  1. I read a whole article how not just princess, but many of the cruise lines are doing away with one time use plastics. One I found interesting was water bottles. As an Elite passenger, I always trade out my  complementary mini bar setup for a case of bottle water. I hear they may potentially use a brand called "Just Water". It's a a recyclable box with a bottle cap made from sugar cane. Originally when I read doing away with bottles water, I thought to myself, oh no, my water supply for the week. It will be interesting throughout the year how they replace many of the one time use plastics and to see what it will be substituted for or if there will even be any for some. Such as balloons, coffee cup covers, picks for drink garnishes, trash can bag liners. Straws we know have already went bye bye.

Can anyone else confirm this?  Didn’t want to start this line of questioning on that other thread as it has little to do with the original poster’s question. We’ve been on a Princess ship every Christmas or New Yrs for the past dozen yrs and it was one of my favourite things. Don’t want to turn this into an environmental debate...just looking to see if anyone else has heard this or if it’s a rumour at this point. Thanks! 

    Sadly it's true. It's also one of favorite things on board both weekly and for New year's!

    Just saw your question and I was going to ask the same! We’re on the week after you, 12/28-1/4. And though the new app showed everything, it did keep saying my Cruise Personalizer was incomplete—weird. But it showed green in My Princess. However, all the ‘bubbles’ to be Ocean Ready in the new app went green the day I made final payment! I was able to order our medallions several weeks ago, even though I didn’t have all green bubbles.

    thanks a lot! You have been extremely helpful. I'm also on the New year sailing with you as well. With technology comes lots of glitches. Tomorrow I will get it all sorted. I just love the excitement when I get to place my Medallion order.

  4. On the phone with Princess as we speak. looks like I have to call them back again tomorrow as the ocean department is closed for the day. Pretty much it's a glitch which is what I had for my November sailing where the ocean tech team needs to reset my account and go into it and fix it. I too had the problem with the green circle for my November sailing and when I called them up they were able to fix it.

Full disclosure: I had not even gone into Ocean Ready for this cruise at the time I got the new app; my details within My Princess were all complete at the time I opened the new app the first time.

    Do you mind me asking what is your cruise date in Dec? Trying to see if that makes a difference. My first sailing on the sky is not until Christmas week.

    yes I've downloaded the app and have updated to the new Medallion class app. I've used the app several times on past failings. My Regal one for November pops up but none of my December Sky ones. Which is odd. I may try to log out and then we login otherwise I guess I'll contact princess to see what's going on. Thanks!

Didn't understand, as there were so many empty tables when we got there (the one slot they had left).  Also, do we pay ahead for specialty?  OK, as long as I can switch it around onboard if necessary.  Thanks! 

    That's. Great question. Well I do remember that they put cute little itty bitty stockings with chocolates and a candy cane in your during turndown service on Christmas Eve. As for the dinners, Christmas Day is the dinner they do as the formal holiday dinner.

    Awe. Also just the simple act of kindness and talking to the crew, asking about them about their families makes them feel so appreciative as they are far from home

     

  9. Hmm. Great question. They usually do it in February or March. As I was on board for one of them. It was great fun being able to see some good quality acts and being able to vote. And the excitement of watching The winner being announced with the check. However I don't think they even did it this year. And there's no mentioning of it. It would be a shame if they have discontinued it.

  10. I don't drink soda, so the freestyle machines have no meaning to me. I see no harm in keeping up with the Joneses, if other lines have rolled the machines out. It's all about keeping up with competition, especially if they think it will beneficial for them and their passengers.

  11. It depends. If the b2b is booked as 1 cruise, then you will not become elite till after both legs are done. Now if the b2b cruises are booked as 2 separate cruises, then after the first leg is complete, you are elite on leg #2. It should be automatic switch over, but any issues you encounter contact the captain circle rep while on board. If the medallion status colors bothers you , if you have a B2B as two separate Cruises and you really want the black Medallion you go to the front desk and they will make you a new one.

  12. Correct. They count based off the number of cruises you have taken, not by the days when determine loyalty tiers / status. There are also ways to earn double credits within a sailing. If you travel solo and pay double occupancy you receive 2 credits. If you stay in a suite cabin (not mini,) that's 2 credits per guest.
