  1. We have taken our family of 4 on two Christmas/NYE cruises so far (the last one on Solstice in 2019). Our two adult kids will not be able to make our third this coming December (Solstice again). Here is a thread similar to yours from earlier this year (link). In it I posted my comments along with photos and links to the Celebrity Today that was issued for the two holidays which you may be interested in. I think you and your family will enjoy your holiday cruise plus Silhouette is a nice ship. Tipping the crew extra is a great holiday idea. While Christmas is a bit understated in terms of how it is celebrated onboard, NYE is one big party spread across several different venues. Since your ship will be in the warm Caribbean on NYE, the pool deck will be where the action is. If you look at the thread that I posted, you can see we have decorated our cabin for Christmas. To me, I think the only "don't" is not hang any lights out on the balcony. You are going to definitely want to have your family's photo taken by the ship's photographer on Christmas Eve/Day by the Christmas tree in the Main Foyer. If you have any questions, let me know.
  2. And during our Dec 2019 Solstice sailing.
  3. I have yet to witness that type of behavior during any of our cruises. Now if there were special Elite lifeboats and the cruise ship was sinking, I could see such a scenario.
  4. Next thing may be that Cruise Critic Connection gatherings will be brought back on every fifth sailing...
  5. Ok, Ruth. I am going to have to educate myself on this teahouse moon thing. I am guessing that it is a place or maybe a poem....
  6. Thanks for posting. I would like to see it held more frequently like it was before--but this is an excellent and welcomed start. I imagine they may be well attended?
  7. Who has accumulated the most Club Points (via PUPs) before their first Celebrity cruise?
  8. PowerUp Point Activity Summary (Including Q&A Webinar with Laura) PowerUp Points from social media activity not included.
  9. Thanks. I checked mine and I got the three Club Points as well.
  10. If you look at Settings>Privacy & Security>Location Services, you will get an idea of some of the apps that may depend on GPS (not all apps "Location Services" are completely GPS dependent as they can use other things like W-Fi). For me the most important apps that become disabled or less functional when GPS is switched off is Uber (less convenient to use), camera (no geo tagging of my photos), Pokemon Go (won't work), mapping services (less convenient to use), and weather apps (less convenient to use).
  11. As you probably know, when you raise your wrist to look at the watch, there is a ~7 second digital Snoopy cartoon that plays (many with Woodstock in it). There are so many different ones, I have rarely seen a repeat. I try not to chuckle out loud at the office.....
  12. As long as my new Snoopy watch face works onboard, I am happy.
  13. Once a year for us because of work schedules. But thanks to Covid induced delays, we’ll be taking two exotic cruises (not B2B) in Nov and Dec.
  14. Bonaire is renown for its diving and snorkeling. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
  15. I think that the risk level is pretty small. I also think your Edge cruise to New Zealand is just too awesome to give up. Great ship, great itinerary. Besides, that plane ain’t getting shorter as you get older!! Milford Sound, Solstice, Dec 31 2019
  16. Yes. I wasn't suggesting that the lack of paperwork inspection would tempt me to not get one next time. I am pretty sure that I printed out the paper copies because that was the instruction on the ETA website after the payment was processed. When we purchased our NZ ETAs for our second cruise out of Sydney, I remember that Guest Relations called me to tell me that they didn't have the NZ ETA on file for our daughter. I gave them the paper copy that I brought with me and they were satisfied. So there's that.....
  17. Your hotel's live webcam is pretty nice. Have fun in Sydney.
  18. Been to Sydney twice for cruises and you are right, the paper ETA was not examined at all. During our first trip the immigration officer said that he could see it electronically (or something like that) when my passport was processed.
  19. How much time in total do you estimate that you have spent with FBC for this particular sailing?
  20. Last year, we received multiple BCC offers spaced about 5 months apart (July-Dec). It was during a time that it seemed like Celebrity was desperate with filling their ships.
  21. A far cry from the Captain and boombox being offered to the OP.
  22. Then there’s famous Cask 23…. And I hope we get more PowerUp Point opportunities.
