  1. Since you brought up the topic of pet peeves... I have been silently sighing every time I see Millennium misspelled. 😪
  2. You might find some useful information here. Be aware that if you ask 10 people for recommendations, you will get more than 10 answers. 😉
  3. I am not familiar with AA policy. I have had good luck in the past with United, perhaps at least partially due to my loyalty status with them. Generally, the airline will try to re-book on their own flights, then look for joint venture flights if any, and then look for other airlines in the same alliance. I would suggest you look at AA flights that might work better for you, or perhaps British Airways flights as an alternative. Then present these alternatives to the AA reservation agent asking for their help with your situation. It is useful to try to get the agent to be empathetic and want to help you. Getting angry will be counterproductive. If the first agent with whom you speak is not helpful, then implement the HUCA guideline = Hang Up and Call Again.
  4. Retreat and Luminae will be available. Drinks outside of Retreat lounge are not included. You will earn loyalty points at the level of your originally-booked cabin type (verandah, in your case).
  5. If you have the time and motivation to post here, others might learn from your bidding experience. Congratulations on your move-up.
  6. To finish check-in you will need passport numbers. You can start the process and complete it in phases; the system will save your entries and let you continue at a later time.
  7. I assume you have a balcony cabin now? If you have an OV, then the move-up makes a compelling case. But from a balcony cabin, I see no advantage to move up to concierge or Aqua if you do not care for the spa or Blu menu. You would not even earn extra loyalty club points with a Move-up offer.
  8. Flights are often not available for reservation/ purchase more than 330 days in advance. I suppose if your flights are in early November they could be purchased now. Do you know if the reservation was actually made by FBC? If so, you would have to call them to get record locator ("passenger name record") if this information does not appear on your documents. Without the number, I would question if you have a real reservation.
  9. I received two-small value gift cards from my bank as a customer appreciation amenity, years ago. I just recently used them toward purchase of a cruise. Cards specified that they could only be used to buy a new cruise. They were not valid for onboard purchases. So, it is useful to read the "fine print"
  10. Over my decades of frequent flying, whenever I have had flight delays or cancellations, I searched for alternative flights myself and then verbally fed my preferred itineraries to the airline agents. I did NOT rely upon airline staff to generate my alternative plans. This strategy might work with Flights by Celebrity. The less work and time the FBC agents have to do, the more likely you are to get your desired results. Their agents allegedly looked and could not find any other flights!!!! There are numerous ways to get from IAD to BCN, best of which is the non-stop on United. Obviously the issue is $$$. That should not matter to you given the published verbiage about FBC having your back. As others have stated, FBC owes you alternative flights. Persist and escalate with them as needed. It would help if you can remain calm when speaking with the FBC agents and try to get them to sympathized with you. I will add that you might ask for assistance in the Cruise Air forum. Your problem is related to Celebrity, but some of the participants in Cruise Air forum are very knowledgeable. And as others here have suggested, avoid using upper case letters in your post title in that forum; that will be a distraction.
  11. Not in my experience. But I have not used FBC in the last few years because their Prices have been equal to or greater than those found on airline sites.
  12. Concierge perks are "meh" for a lot of us. Some people like it because of cabin choice/location, which would be irrelevant if you select a "guaranty" cabin/
  13. Oh my. If the quality of the wine is important to you, you may have to resign yourself to purchasing a glass or bottle from the wine list. The free Elite happy hour wine is basically Chateau Rotgut with varying labels.
  14. Some of us prefer RCL Diamond benefits and others prefer the Celebrity Elite benefits. IMO, Celebrity is better for free internet and a free bag of laundry. The free internet is 90 minutes that you can spread over the length of the cruise, unlike the consecutive 24-hour benefit on RCL. For those of us who never purchase an alcohol package, the free drinks on RCL is a much better benefit. We all value different things, so you will have to make your own decision as far as benefits.
  15. Several people have taken the time and trouble to answer this VERY question. It might be helpful for you to read the responses to this post.
  16. Yes, that was the way it worked in the past. Do you know if this is the way it will operate in January?
  17. This thread is from all the way, a week ago.
  18. Welcome to the Celebrity Boards here. You might want to read this thread.
  19. Thank you for your comments here, and in your dining reviews. Although I have cruised to Alaska a couple of times, I enjoyed seeing your perspectives and ideas for shore excursions. Also, I much appreciate your format - paragraphs with headings. Easy to read and this format would be a model for other posters, IMHO.
  20. We are not able to take these featured cruises, but nonetheless we found your post to be valuable because it introduced us to a new (for us) cruise research web site. Thank you.
  21. In addition to what the previous posters described, the OP should know that each card has a bar code that will be scanned when you pick up your cards. The game computer knows who owns which cards and if a card is a "winner" of some prize, big or small. Therefore, the audience players do not need to feverishly try to open the boxes on their cards. As the game's director (often the cruise director) tells the audience.... you can take a nap during the game or not attend the game at all. Later that day you can simply take your cards to the casino and the cashier will scan your cards and tell you if you have won anything.
  22. Since this seems to be your first cruise on an E-class ship, I will add a couple of "tips" that I did not know before taking my first Edge cruise. I have been on many Celebrity cruises, but my first time on Edge was last month. There has been a lot of information posted about the infinite verandah, good and bad, so that was not a surprise to me and there is no need to resurrect that topic here. But a few other bits of information may be helpful to you: The table surface at the foot of the bed in front of the large mirror will slide away if you want that. That large bedroom mirror puts out a lot of light; I assume this is designed to be a make-up mirror? It is an annoying amount of light, from my male perspective. There is a small button on the side of the power cord connection box (or whatever it is called) that will turn off the light, as I learned midway through my cruise. And my final discovery on day 5 of my cruise.... there is a drawer under the bathroom sink and it contains a hair dryer and extra rolls of toilet paper. Also the electronic control panel on the wall outside the bathroom will require some exploration on your part. Perhaps you should ask your cabin steward for an orientation to the cabin features upon your first meeting. In retrospect, I should have made such a request, but I did not know what I didn't know.
  23. I had a similar experience (>5 years ago) in Naples when I was the beneficiary of a fellow passenger not being allowed to bring some local pastry onboard. The passenger distributed the contraband pastry to any and all nearby passengers. It seems the OP's post has gotten a definite maybe as a response to his/her question 😉
  24. GE can be very helpful at Canada Place because passengers have to leave Canada and enter Alaska and thus will pass through US immigration at Canada Place.
  25. Your question suggests to me that you are Elite on Celebrity due to Diamond status on RCL (or maybe you are new to Elite status) The free internet is one area in which Celebrity is greatly superior to RCL in terms of loyalty benefits, in my opinion. The free "24 hour" wifi on RCL is of little value to me. Your free 90 minutes on Celebrity can be stretched to the length of your cruise, as long as you remember to log off after each session.
