Adelaide has a great Cabaret Festival, which is just finishing for this year (7-22/6/24). They also have the best original agricultural show, the Royal Adelaide Show. (2/9-10/9/23). We used to combine a visit to the show with a visit to Kangaroo Island, prior to the fires. They also have the Adelaide Festival (1-17/3/24). I think Adelaide has the best annual festivals.
I was offered a high deck supposedly better, on my last cruise. No thank you. I choose middle low down for a reason1
I have noticed final payment is earlier now than it used to be.
No I'm looking at an Alaskan cruise now. I absolutely loved Alaska, but didn't like five big ships in port at once. We cruised by the Alaskan Marine Highway and stayed days in ports.
I agree. I paid for a cruise for each of my daughters, but they don't enjoy cruising as much as I do. However, both have inherited my love of independent travel. We enjoy camping together.
I just had a look. I just saw where not to cruise, the Med and Alaska. We are the lucky country, so we should enjoy it before the cruise lines wake up.
SA school holidays might make it less good. When I was at Sanctuary Cove sitting in the sun, enjoying a coffee, most people around me were from SA! Seeing their recent bad weather, I don't blame them.
Buy merino/possum warm gloves, plus a merino/possum neck gaiter in NZ. Expensive, but you get your money's worth on all future travel to cold countries, plus they are light. Also merino singlets will keep you warm, without weight.
I cruised on Carnival Luminosa last year and I liked everything about the ship, which was in good condition. The food was very good. Maybe it is just Splendour which is sub standard.
Yes, it is possible to cruise with carry on only, but you'd need to wear your heavier winter gear. Or have it across your arm on departure in USA, plus a small material bag to put it on the flight. This becomes an extra pillow.
