  1. Disney is a wonderful experience. Where else do you happily walk around in mouse ears? A longer cruise would be better than two nights.
  2. Congratulations on seeing Mt Denali in bright sunshine, free of cloud, a rare event. We didn't see it! When you organised your trip, it probably didn't sound as exhausting as it turned out. Enjoy the rest of your time in Alaska, one of my favourite places.
  3. Sydney doesn't have to be expensive. Eat where the locals eat. Sydney has fantastic walks at the beach and around the harbour - all free. Get a day transport ticket and ride the harbour ferries to beaches and the river to Parramatta. Agree don't tip as it is included in price. Everyone receives a regulated minimum wage.
  4. Prices would be very expensive for a family. I'd rather fly to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and stay in the magical WDW Resort, as my daughter is doing in November.
  5. A 24year old Brisbane woman is missing in Canadian bear country. The RCMP found her car parked at the Bear Lake Trail Head.
  6. No sorry I call Singapore land travel (any travel not on a ship).
  7. Oh yes, you certainly made up for lost time. Impressive!
  8. Yes the driver has been charged with unsafe driving. He is on bail, confined to his house during night hours, can't drive, etc. Very sad. It has been reported driver was speeding in fog. Ten wedding guests have been killed. They were being transferred from winery wedding reception to Singleton accommodation.
  9. Glad you got boiled eggs. Were they hard or runny. Runny eggs with soldiers are an essential holiday treat.
  10. I doubt most people not on CC or F would know until they were on board. I feel sorry for families. I was taught to be grateful and just do without. But modern parents don’t like to disappoint their children.
  11. Yes that is my problem. Yes solo is too expensive. However it was car hire to my favourite place on my birthday so I went solo anyway and had a wonderful day.
  12. I try to keep an eye out for those medium ships passing through as they often have good itineraries. I'd love to do Singapore to Sydney or visa versa again, with land travel in Singapore.
  13. I still smile when I think of you returning to Sydney after all your cruises to return for yet another cruise when you saw the Sydney weather. I had been visiting Sydney during that period so understood your feelings, "oh no still raining"!
  14. I pay more because I travel on small ships, which I prefer.
  15. Because it is the northern winter. Australians aren’t the priority for Australian cruises. If you want to go north in winter, you have to fly. I fly to Darwin in peak season in winter.
  16. The most OBC I’ve ever had was $50 refundable.
  17. Welcome to Komodo, Indonesia today, 13/6. Early start 6 am to 4 pm. Any passengers going to see the dragons or pink beach?
  18. You have to keep a sense of humour in relation to increasing prices for food which used to be included in the fare. Imagine the shock if this was even suggested years ago, when everything, which made cruising so special, was included. We used to holiday annually on different Whitsunday Islands, because they were all inclusive.
  19. I'm sorry I don't understand your answer. Inside cabin fare for 16 day Azamara Norwegian Cruise from $3392 pp plus $500USCredit, with no gratuities. I got $1.45US for my Australian Dollar on my first trip to the US, so I understand the effects of the current weakness of our dollar.
  20. Researching overseas cruises, I've noticed gratuities are included sometimes. Recent Azamara Cruises include gratuities. This makes a huge difference to Aussies, with our weak dollar.
  21. My daughter showed me that there were a lot of people on another website's roll call, for the same cruise, interested in sharing port experiences. When I was getting some money at the Money Exchange there was a lady going on the same cruise as me. She hadn't heard of CC, so I think it is not as well known as it used to be by people of my era.
  22. There is a large selection of camper van rentals in NZ. Whilst I haven't rented one, names which come to mind are Jucy, Britz and Wilderness. You can peruse their websites to get an idea of what is available. Then ask for opinions on the one you like. NZ is perfect for camper van rental because of narrow roads and short distances. ,
