  1. yes it does. The highway has been diverted past the small town where I used to buy steak and kidney pies. 😢 😔 In my travels I discovered NZ was one place you could get steak and kidney, liver, etc. No wonder I feel so at home in NZ!
  2. Steak and kidney pie is my favourite. I was happy I got the last one yesterday. It reminds me of the family size home made steak and kidney pies, with a black bird funnel, which I loved as a Child.
  3. When people talk about the distance from BICTvto the city, I recall the long distances from many cruise ports in SE Asia to the closest cities. Passengers just paid the transfer costs!!
  4. Saw a new sign which I didn’t get. after waiting until I saw it twice I Mentioned this to my daughter how good is a sign which you don’t get. She replied “you’re not the target audience, mum!” About speeding yeh yah or Similiar!! 😀
  5. You were lucky. We met Europeans who Were returning their rented mobile home early and flying home. We were on a ferry so more comfortable with the weather. Pros all ports were having fabulous sales. Taxi Driver told me most people go home after the Season finishes.
  6. 😀 I have been on several ships with built in siingle beds along the wall t shape )not suites)
  7. I have just been to the National Folk Festival with lots of volunteers of all ages. Cruise Lines deserve to loose their elderly passengers if they don’t subsidise transfers and insurance, with support of Auths.
  8. The Grain Wharf Terminal with big ships had bus transfer to and from the city (ANZAc Sq) for $20 pp. There was a marquee there with volunteers handing out maps and providing assistance. I’m ashamed that service is not provided by the new BIT! short sighted by cruise lines and Auths.
  9. Thanks. I was at the time and still am. I wonder what cruiselines are going to do when their passengers can’t buy affordable insurance. Not everyone elderly who is healthy can afford to self insure.
  10. Yes Bulladelah was packed when we drove down. Pies looked thick crusted. people were having breakfast which looked good. We just had coffee. My daughter bought small jars of Tomato sauce and marmalade perfect for travellers
  11. Yes still there. Thanks Les. Found Frederickton. I just had steak and kidney pie and my daughter had traditional. Delicious with thin pastry. Also bought raw honey and pink sticks.
  12. I bet that caused some excitement. April is too early for Alaska. May is good before all the tourists!
  13. Thanks! Fredericton is closer to Port Macquarie. We are at Forster, took the scenic route along Lakes Way - Nat Parks, lakes and beaches it has it all - just beautiful region!
  14. Anyone had pies etc from Nabiac, with its big best pies sign, on Pacific Highway? Karuah, north of Newcastle, on the river off the highway, was perfect stopover en route to Gold Coast from Canberra.
  15. Fast Cover Travel Insurance is back! Good company to deal with. I have used them in the past, when I needed evacuation cover, however I didn’t claim.
  16. Thanks Julie. How could I forget that name! I’m currently at the National in the dark listening to my last concert!
  17. There is a motel at Hamilton which provides free transfers. Someone on here will know the name. (I’m on holidays). You could catch the scenic ferry in to the city and back to see the city sights then get free transfer to the airport when you depart.
  18. The best upgrade we have gotten was from a guarantee with the cruise line where we were advised of the upgrade on the wharf on the day of departure. Makes sense to fill cabins and reward risk takers.
  19. Sorry to hear that. I wonder if passengers are reluctant to cruise because of the missed ports in addition to catching Covid.
  20. If you are on a paid ships transfer they have to take you back to the ship. However they usually announce
  21. I think the days of free shuttles are gone unless they take you to a shop like in Hawaii!
  22. Seeking Pacific Highway recommending for pies, pasties and sausage rolls. We are driving home to GC tomorrow two days. We stayed at Goulburn Bakery on way down. Any recommendations for fish and chips en route welcome although we have two. Wont be an early departure with today 3c feels like 2c! Happy Easter everyone from a Canberra early Autumn!
  23. On a road trip from GC to Canberra these are road signs which caught my eye. Don't be a tosser Don't trust your Tired Self wrong way go back (an old favourite which always makes me smile) Enjoying the National Folk Festival in Canberra despite the wet and cold weather!!
