  1. Too bad that Oceania is taking over the reputation from Holland America as the old fogey's favorite cruise line🤭. It would be nice if they could move things up a notch to cater to the boomer generation, we've got a few years to go before we start dying off.
  2. If you look at the cruises in November and December from Miami, they are all waitlisted which means they are sold out. Even cruises on the R ships are waitlisted which rarely happens. It's because many of use have use it or lose it credits that are going to expire at the end of 2022. It's the main reason I am cruising on Marina Dec. 4, 14 days.I wasn't going to let O keep hundreds of dollars for nothing so I booked a cruise I wasn't particularly excited about, just spending my credit. Some on my cruise are being offered to switch because this cruise is oversold. If O would extend the FCC's into 2023 more people would give up their space and take a different Oceania cruise. I would gladly give up my space if I could apply the credit to a cruise I've been looking at for Sept. 2023., to the Canary Islands.
  3. Looks like Marina Dec. 4 cruise is oversold. Some on the roll call have received an offer to switch to a 17 day Riviera cruise in January 2023 for the same price as the 14 day. No one has taken them up on it, I did not get the offer myself. O will have to sweeten the offer to get any takers. I'd be open if I got free airfare and O life as I'm booked cruise only in an outside. I doubt they want my cabin though.
  4. You can also wrap the bottle in a washcloth from your cabin to keep the condensation away from other items in your tote bag. Just remember to bring back the washcloth.
  5. I sent in the required paperwork for an upcoming cruise on Oceania. A week went by and I heard nothing so I sent an email asking for status of the shareholder request. I got a reply stating they will be applying the OBC to my account but I won't see it in my account until I am onboard. NCL does this differently than Oceania even though it's the same corporation. I have to trust that I will see the $100 credit once I am cruising.
  6. If you go to the ship doctor, test positive for covid, you won't be able to go fill a prescription at a pharmacy in port since you will be locked in a quarantine cabin. You will get limited medical care with OTC meds but no paxlovid. if you are very very sick you will be offloaded at the next possible port and sent to a hospital, all at your own expense.
  7. Good to know, I won't have to bring my own water bottle.
  8. Do all cabins have a reusable water bottle to put the Vero water in? Can we take them off the ship on excursions? If not, are there disposable water bottles handed out at the gangway when disembarking at the ports? Should I bring my own refillable water bottle to take ashore? Just one more thing to pack if O doesn't provide water bottles to take ashore.
  9. No. it is very expensive, a 5 day course runs over $530 from a discount pharmacy like Walmart. If you are worried about testing positive on board you will need to bring your own Paxlovid if your doctor will give it to you before you are sick.
  10. PORT ROYAL: What would be the names of these beaches you recommend going to in place of Grand Anse? I hate crowds.
  11. I will be visiting Grenada December 11 and have nothing planned for the stop there. My ship Oceania Marina will be in port from 8:00-11:00pm so I have all day to see the island. Is Grenada a good port to put together a taxi tour on-the-spot after disembarking the ship? Will there be taxi drivers with signs offering tours of the island? I'm sure they know all the hot spots to visit that the big organized ship tours go to. How much would a 1/2 day tour like this cost for 2 people in a cab? How much is a cab to Grans Anse beach?
  12. Husband and I disembarked Dawn late August after a 10 day Baltic cruise. We spent 3 days in Amsterdam before flying home. 3 days later my husband got covid. Maybe on the ship, maybe on the flight, maybe somewhere in Amsterdam. Who knows, who cares. We are just glad he got and is over it and now has natural immunity for a while. We have another cruise in December planned and will not worry one bit about getting covid on that cruise. BTW, we are both double vaxxed, 1 boost, and no more covid jabs for us.
  13. Same here, I had $500 credit towards the price of the cruise that had to be used before the end of 2022. I wasn't very excited to go to the Caribbean again as I was just there a year ag but I was not going to let O keep $500 of money for nothing in return. This is the only reason I am cruising in December. I have another O cruise booked for Sept. 2023 but I was not allowed to use the $500 towards payment for that cruise.
  14. My husband and I are double vaxxed and boosted. We cruised on NCL Dawn in August on a less than 1/3 full ship. 3 days after getting home we both got covid. Everyone I know who has been on a cruise within the last 6 months has caught covid. If you go on a cruise be prepared to get covid. This is the new normal now for cruising with an endemic virus in the global population. Vaccines will not prevent anyone from getting covid.
  15. No more tests, masks, vaccinations to sail on NCl. Will Oceania be next? NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE TO ELIMINATE COVID-19 TESTING, MASKING AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS BEGINNING OCT. 4, 2022 https://www.ncl.com/newsroom/norwegian-cruise-line-to-eliminate-covid-19-testing-masking-and-vaccination-requirements-beginning-oct-4-2022
  16. You can have lobster every night in the Terrace if you sail on Oceania. And I do. You can also have lobster every day for lunch at Waves on Oceania.
  17. My cruise Dec. 4 Marina, Miami to Miami is definitely all waitlisted as is the TATL cruise prior Barcelona to Miami bringing marina over from Europe. How often does a TATL sell out, not very. All waitlist is usually the sign that cruises are about to be cancelled.
  18. Please let us know the situation as all cruises in Oct., Nov., and Dec. Are waitlisted.
  19. Maybe my recent NCL cruise was a one off one as to sharing dinner tables. I hope so. If people areafraid to dine with others because of covid it's time to get over it and rejoin the world as it carries on.
  20. Maybe it is just the Dec. 4 Marina sailing that has a lot of unsociable people onboard. I am the only one on the roll call who has planned private excursions which I am excellent at doing. Only 2 other couples have joined in the planning.
  21. What about the people who have written here on CC about being quarantined and being allowed to stay in their cabins?
  22. YoPhilly: are you on the roll call? You can find out some info there about how to get in touch with me. There is very little activity though, just very few of us planning to do anything together.
  23. My Marina cruise Dec. 4, 14 day Carribean, is waitlisted in all categories. I think it will be 100% full as this itinerary is very popular. I doubt O is holding back cabins for anything if they have an opportunity to sell them. Why would O use deck 7 for quarantining when they quarantine people in their own cabins? My cabin is on deck 7 so that deck has been sold. They don't move people out of their assigned cabin to quarantine like other cruise lines do.
  24. Were tables for 4 being used by only 2 people? Were people willing to share on your post pandemic cruise? I was on an NCL Baltic cruise in August and every night when we went to dinner in the dining room we asked to start a share table. In 10 nights of dinner not a single other person coming to dinner wanted to share. We ended up eating alone every night when we would have liked to meet new people. Based on the posts on the roll call for my sailing Dec. 4 on Marina, there is a lack of interest in sharing excursions, meeting up, or anything. Maybe it's O cruisers who are still afraid of covid and are going to keep to themselves and isolate socially. This could be a very boring cruise.
