  1. Did you book the cruise as two legs, or one long cruise? If you booked as one and your cruise card is good for the whole cruise, you can just walk off with the first self debark group, and when you return just go through security and use your transit pass/continuing cruiser card to bypass checkin. EM
  2. Forward elevators…then midship and aft elevators
  3. I thought I saw a picture somewhere of eggs Benedict. Where would I find that? EM
  4. And she’s a Spirit class ship. Too bad Carnival Corp. sold her to Jimmy rather than transferring to Carnival. We can always use another Spirit class…. EM
  5. Assuming you will be there on June 2, there will be two other ships there with you. MSC Sinfonia and Explorer of the Seas. Sinfonia will leave earlier, Explorer an hour later. Hopefully that will mean the lines for the cable car will not be too bad, but you will have to allow time for that. Almost any restaurant will do, with a nice view of the bay. I would go over to the Ports of Call board for the Med and ask for restaurant recommendations . EM
  6. How many days will it take to clean up the mess after the bash is over? EM
  7. So that’s why we don’t have facial tissue on MSC. When I got a box, I thought it. Must be a diamond perk. Pack up those extra bags and slips so you will have them for the next Carnival cruise…. EM
  8. Just to update…on the 30 day when I could check in, my cabin was assigned…a balcony. A person on my almost non-existent roll call also got a balcony for his OV gty. EM

    Divina

I suggest you go to the top of the MSC page where you will see See threads about and to the right Select ship. Click on the arrow and you will get a drop down list of the ships. Click on Divina. You will get a page of threads about Divina, including several reviews and Live From threads. Should make interesting reading. Most involve the YC. EM
  10. Totally agree. When I entered that hall and saw the large counter, I realized that was where luggage rested for the great liners of the golden age. (Yeah, I love history…). EM
  11. All four of Azamara’s ships are sisters of Insignia, Nautica, Regatta and Sirena. EM
  12. My go to source for canal schedules is cruisetimetables.com. But some companies do not list their transit…NCL in particular. And there are some smaller lines not included. If I see a ship coming down the Pacific side, or coming from Cartagena or Limon I check their schedule. If they are in Cartagena one day and a couple days later in Puntarenas, you know they will be doing a transit. I cross reference with cruisemapper.com as they cover many ships that cruisetimetables doesn’t. And then there are the ships that spend a lot of time chartered and don’t have a published schedule. Looking at the current schedule, it appears you will be sharing the canal on Dec. 14 with Azamara Journey, but going opposite directions. If you keep an eye on Marine Traffic you might catch some pics as you pass. EM
  13. Some of the best entertainment might be people watching. That’s my favorite…. I’ll be on in July…I just turned 80 this month…. EM
  14. Depends on the cabins. Some shouldn’t be opened because the partition will swing and cover the door to the balcony of one cabin. EM
  15. There is a restaurant l’Obelisco that is aft of the buffet, deck 13, but no idea what it might serve. EM
  16. Well, I’m glad I’m reading this…I will know to bring my genuine Venetian mask on my cruise in January. EM
  17. One of my favorite features of the site is creating a pdf of the public decks and printing it for reference. EM
  18. The charter is guaranteed income for the cruise line. They set the amount the chartering company has to pay, and get that whether or not the charter sells all of the cabins. EM
  19. Cruisedeckplans.com for all your deck plan needs. A modest membership fee will give you access to tons of cabin pictures, and can be recouped by submitting your own pics. Congratulations on getting a starboard balcony, you will have a nice view of the light show at Ocean Cay. Here is your cabin location…you will have a connecting door to 13172. EM
  20. I only have experience on Carnival, but the pullmans are the same size as the large bed when it is split into twins. The quad balconies will have the sofa bed and upper. EM
  21. Here are the kids menus offered in the US as of December 2023:
  22. Since you are in Aurea, you will have open dining and do not need reservations. I have not sailed MSC in Europe so don’t know how the kids menus are there. The version we get sailing from US is not all junk food. But your daughter can mix and match adult and kids menus. I don’t believe you can schedule specialty dining before boarding. I have never done specialty, even though I get a free meal every cruise as Diamond. Others here can tell you more about the dining packages. As to Yacht Club, only you can decide if it is worth it. I have never sailed in YC, and when evaluating the benefits, conclude that the restaurant is the only one I would enjoy, as I don’t use the pools, or lay out in the sun. There is a whole big beautiful ship to be explored and I want to see it all. EM
  23. Alone? It hasn’t been alone since he gave it to the porters…. EM
