Two other places to research this: 1. On the Ports of Call board for Europe; 2. The MSC board here, under Cruise Lines A-O. EM

Are the pull out sofa beds (vs bunk beds) a big inconvenience?
Essiesmom replied to Sunny03's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It depends on the class of ship as to the bed configuration. Some have the sofa bed that does not fold out and a bunk above it. Some have a foldout single with bunk above the large bed. But also importantly, keeping your balcony door open sucks a/c out of other rooms in your sector to keep your room cool. It’s a no no, and there are signs on the balcony doors asking you not to do it. EM -
Both lines will have kids programs, but NCL will have more features to entertain kids than any Princess ship. EM

St Thomas - beach for snorkeling and island tour
Essiesmom replied to KJMM's topic in St. Thomas/St. John
Welcome to Cruise Critic. There is a forum here called Ports of Call where you can research St. Thomas and your other ports. EM -
My previous passports had a place to enter your home address in pencil. The new one from last year only has a place for phone, email, and next of kin in pencil. I never had to notify anyone when I moved. EM

Kotor tender docks right at the entrance to the walled city. Split…there might be a shuttle into town, as I understand the terminal is a distance from the city. Last two times I was there it was a tender port except for ferries and small ships. EM

TA in May
Essiesmom replied to Jim1949's topic in Transatlantic, Transpacific, Repositioning & Trans-Ocean Cruises
Welcome to Cruise Critic. Just Google Azores weather in May. Nassau will be warm. Atlantic will probably be comfortable on your balcony but take a coverup in case it is breezy. EM -
I object because their reason for filming is to put it out on their blog and YouTube to make money. Easy money? The same reason I object to people making a Perfect Guide to…posting it here with a link to YouTube….and making money through hits. I seldom look at videos, occasionally if someone is looking for cabin pics, occasionally one in a Live from. Many are so poorly done they are painful to watch. EM

They don’t put iced tea into the machines until breakfast is over. They also have lemonade after breakfast. Tea is unsweetened and they have all of the sweeteners. I like lemon in my iced tea so I add a squirt of lemonade. If there is no lemonade I get a twist of lemon or lime from the bar. EM

Seeking Alaska/Carnival Spirit Reviews
Essiesmom replied to MistyRo76's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Go to the top of the threads page, upper left. Right beneath where it says Find your roll call, in smaller print is See posts about: and to the right of that ‘select ship. Click on that and you will get a dropdown menu of Carnival ships. Click on Spirit and you will get pages of threads about the Spirit. -
Actually, it’s a good idea. Ack in 2009 there was that swine flu scare and cruises to the z Mexican riviera were rerouted to Vancouver. People cancelled right and left. I booked a B2B on Splendor dirt cheap. The first week there was a lady at my table who had had both knees replaced over about three months. After the second surgery they sent her to a nursing home to rehab, as there was no availability in a rehab center. She was depressed and told the doctor she wanted to go home. He said she could if she had someone to cook and clean for her, and room to walk. She said she knew just where she could get that, and booked three cruises, three different ships. And I think knees are a harder recovery than a hip, although my mother did fantastic at 80 or so. EM

Since you are wanting to do the Panama Canal on Princess in November, I see there are two choices: Emerald Princess and Coral Princess. If seeing the historic original canal is your objective, you want to be on Coral Princess, because she will use the old original locks. And she is doing a full transit. Emerald Princess must use the new locks, and is on,y doing a partial transit.. in order to see the original canal you would have to take an excursion on a small ferry type excursion boat, which will be crowded and probably uncomfortable. NCL and Viking Ocean also have ships doing partial transits but through the original locks. EM
