  1. Welcome to Cruise Critic. As MCC retired said, see what she may be able to offer beyond what the cruise line website offers. If nothing, book online. We have many resources here for Alaska information, primary of which is the Alaska board, located under Ports of Call. Well traveled Alaska cruisers there, as well as locals full of info and advice. EM
  2. Nearest might depend on which pier the ship is using. Do you know? There are two Princess ships in Soton on Sept. 12. Maybe someone on the UK Cruising board has a link to a Soton schedule with docking location listed. EM
  3. I shouldn’t think immigration will play into it. If you are sailing from a Med. port, you will already have been cleared by immigration when you entered that country. Since chances are all of your stops will be in Schengen countries, no need for immigration. EM
  4. I believe as long as one of the original guests remains on the reservation, other guests may be switched out. Sometimes there is a minor fee for this, but that depends on the cruise line. It would be best if you ask this on the board here for the cruise line involved. EM
  5. Schools in the South finish by the third week of May, sometimes earlier. But they start up in early August…. EM
  6. I booked a fantastica inside gty and got a balcony. EM
  7. You might also consider MSC in the Yacht Club. You won’t find enrichment lectures due to the international mix of guests, but there is plenty to do. EM
  8. Go over to the Alaska board under Ports of Call. Lots of experts there. EM
  9. MSC uses the dock in Marghera where the fast ferries dock. Across the lagoon from Venice proper. Perhaps Fusina? There is a ferry from Fusina to Venice.
  10. Ahhh…so she’s a little chubby…EM
  11. I believe someone who did a Live from recently did this. Perhaps @TxTeach79 or @Saint Greg…EM
  12. Mahogany Bay is a Carnival created port with two berths. But other cruise lines occasionally show up there, and I believe maybe Divina was there in the last couple of months. I’m sure if the two ships call at different ports, a cab will take you to Coxen Hole. EM
  13. Carnival will amp up the supply of bug spray in the shops, and raise the price even more. EM
  14. Ask on the Alaska board here, under Ports of Call. EM
  15. And then we have a puzzlement. I was quite surprised when Explora l headed for the new locks. Her dimensions are 813x105, 64000 by. Why? No live from on the Explora board, and the roll call went silent more than two weeks ago. @BillB48Any ideas?
  16. Today 3/28, started with Viking Polaris going eastbound
  17. Wrong forum. Ask on the Forum for Virgin Voyages.
  18. Brindisi on May 20, Piraeus on May 23. EM
  19. I note Explora Journeys ships are not on the list…possibly because it is a new line, extension of MSC. Explora l has length of 813, beam 105, so within Panamax dimensions. Yet today, 3/28, she is transiting through the new locks. EM
  20. Do you have a medical emergency? Otherwise, why are you heading back to Panama? You are supposed to be halfway to Puntarenas…
  21. Lots of suggestions on the Florida Departure board, under North American Homeports.
  22. Pack the laundry bag as you are unpacking and give it to your steward the first night. EM
  23. Pedro Miguel cam…sorry I missed her passing, you can barely see her approaching the Cocoli Locks in the upper left. And entering and leaving the first Cocoli Lock.
  24. On Seaside the Sports Bar and Seaview Lounge opposite often were empty during the day. The Sports bar has not yet been invaded by slots… Seaside has a second, smaller buffet on deck 16. It is only open for breakfast and lunch, so afternoon and evening you might be able to find tables there.
  25. Yes, wish they would replace this cam…but part of it is the angle of the sun in the mornings. There will be two more cams, one overlooking the Pedro Miguel locks, and the cam at Cocoli Locks. Ship can also be seen passing by the Miraflores Locks. They can be found at multimedia.panama-canal.com. EM
