  1. You didn’t say which ship you are on, although it probably doesn’t make a difference…but one of the things that may surprise you is how small the bathrooms are, particularly the showers. At least most have plexiglas doors rather than friendly curtains. EM
  2. I think the OP is referring ships that are new to the area, not new in age. Looking for variety. Unfortunately there are no new itineraries…. EM
  3. I visited Rose Hall Great House years ago in Jamaica. It was on a ship tour from Falmouth. I see it is still open for tours. Also visited one with rum distillery in Barbados. I would google the ports on your cruise for plantations, then ask about them on the Ports of Call boards for those islands. EM
  4. The only islands in the Caribbean that might refuse dollars are Martinique and Guadeloupe, which require euros. They are also happy with plastic. EM
  5. All the pics show TV over the vanity. Also, there is no seating other than the chair/stool at the vanity. Any cabin called junior is smaller than others in the same category. If you have a choice, I would wait. Unless you are sailing solo. EM
  6. Did you cat ladies see this April Fool spoof? Just up your alleys…
  7. I think you should post this in the UK cruisers board here. Might be someone there who would qualify for the gig…or offer to tutor you for the gig…. EM
  8. We need to know where you are from to give you accurate answers. It is reported here that for US and UK guests you get a free water package, since drinking water with meals is customary for us. Folks on the MSC board here can advise you more. Welcome to Cruise Critic. EM
  9. Seashore has four MDRs. I believe Central Park on deck 5 is peons only, fixed dining. It is the largest. Tribeca is the next largest, on deck 6. Up on 7 are 5th Avenue and Manhattan. One of those will probably be Aurea, the others overflow peons. Someone may be along to clarify. EM
  10. I was on Seashore in Dec., same itinerary, and going back through the menus, no prime rib or lamb. I could have sworn I had it, but I also sailed Celebrity and Carnival last year where I did have it. E
  11. There will be a lot of two tops. All in a row about 6” from the next one. You just go to the door of whichever MDR it is, tell them what you want, and a waiter will take you there. EM
  12. It’s called the James Bond pier because it was used as a background for scenes in Dr. No. EM
  13. It can be any time. The first time I was only notified of the upgrade, never had an original assignment. EM
  14. There is an app. It is MSC for Me. How much you can order depends on where you are sailing (from). If you are sailing from the US you can order as many apps and desserts as you want, but only one entree/main. Second entree is $5, although there are reports of some. Not being charged. This does not apply in the YC, I believe. If you are sailing in Europe they say they are not being limited to one entree. I believe you can book excursions in the app. EM
  15. Go to the websites of every cruise line that you have even a slight interest in sailing, and sign up for their emails for special deals. If you already know when and where you want to sail, try poking around in cruisetimetables.com. Plug in some places you want to visit using the tab ‘cruises to’, then choose when you want to go. It will tell you who calls there and their itineraries. It is purely informative, not a travel agency. Once you have narrowed it down to a few, go to the boards here for those cruise lines and ask questions there ( presuming you have some). Go to the websites of the lines for the ships you have listed, and try a dummy booking, going all the way until you have to pay to see what you might pay. Then call your recommended TA, and maybe a few others you have found online ( we can’t recommend any on CC) to see what they can offer you to book with them. EM
  16. You treat Rome just like any other port day. EM
  17. Legend is sister to Pride, which you sailed in Europe. There is only one available pier in Ocho Rios, since Magic damaged the main pier. If two ships are scheduled, one will dock at the James Bond dock, and the other goes to Montego Bay or Falmouth. EM
  18. I have never sailed RCL, or have I sailed any line with a child. But I believe the kids programs are free, although there might be an activity or two that have a fee. It’s the after hours care that costs. They will have boosters/highchairs, but you need to bring the kids utensils. There is a board here for Family Cruising, under Special Interest cruising. You might also ask your questions on the RCL board. EM
  19. The heads of the beds will be under the window and the bunk will be in the ceiling. EM
  20. That yummy yacht is the M.Y. Faith. She is available for charter, 12 guests in 7 cabins, crew of 31. Costs a bit more than the MSC YC: $1,736,000/week plus expenses. EM
  21. HAL 3 Star, Cunard x3, platinum on Princess. Couple short visits to Japan plus changing planes enroute from Shanghai. EM
