  1. Per person I believe. And no the intranet wouildn't count as internet time - though I'm not sure you can do much with it except check your account
  2. NA? North America? Yes we leave next week to pick up a cruise out of San Francisco which will go to Europe
  3. Hmm duh yes - my close by cruises are to the Pacific Islands or Australia -very familiar with both -don't need to go again. And also all the cruisers are from the same country as me - I'd much rather meet non-Australians/Kiwis - particularly after the lockdowns
  4. Next cruise we start on our trip to SF from Wellington, NZ - we could fly direct - its a miserable 14 hours out of Auckland plus another hour to Auckland and stuffing around in transit. Instead we are taking 10 days via Hawaii and SF. That cruise will end in Barcelona - where we spend 6 weeks in Europe. Then we get back on the ship in Barcelona and sale to Singapore. The flight back from Singapore is only about 8 hours to Australia and then another 3.5 hours across the ditch (Tasman Sea) to Wellington. This is a trip of over 2 years of lockdowns in the making - I just kept adding stuff to it LOL. In September Air NZ will start flying Auckland - NYC direct - its 18/19 hours. Now we have the time (my partner's retired - I run my own business)- we would always rather take the scenic route and break up long flights.
  5. There's a train to Florence via Pisa from Citivecchia (not Roma) - 4 hours - I'd do an overnight in Florence and return the next day
  6. I've no idea - I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt! But I'm not sure where they would put jackets - there was no porters to hand LOL . This was past security - the queue wasn't bad this was the queue to get on the ship
  7. Well nothing has changed - I just checked in for our cruise on the 24th - guess what time I got to board 12 - let me take a wild guess what time everyone else has got?
  8. Nope it was pre-Covid - basically we were the last Australian cruise unaffected by Covid. It was just a stupid queue because everyone was given the same boarding time.
  9. Meanwhile back in the real world... Sydney Feb 2020 - this was the good bit - inside in the semi-a/c - the queue outside was much worse in over 30C This is my special document.docx
  10. I like your logic! I figure we will risk going to Rome independently because the next port is Naples - and that's a quick train ride. However I'm far more nervious of heading out in Fort Lauderdale - because the next stop is Bermuda - and I've now idea how to get there!
  11. Good on our niece . And yes you are more likely to get it from unvaxxed people than vaxxed because they are more likely to be infected! There are people who seem to have overally concerned about getting ill. And I know some who are amazed that my vulnerable (older heart issues) partner and I are not just cruising but doing the even riskier thing of spending 10 days pre cruise in the USA! And then we are going to eastern Europe so then they think we will be killed by the Russians! But there have always been people like that - I've travelled my whole life and there is always something to be scared of. But we are still in the midst of a pandemic and we are both quietly relieved to have had Covid in May - just slightly gutted to not know which variant it was so don't know where we stand with Omicron 5 . If we can find a place that will give us an updated vaccine while we're travelling - we'll be very happy to pay for it.
  12. Doesn't matter if they had symptoms or not - they were infected and therefore infectious to others. This is not just about the patient its about the effect that person has on others.
  13. I guess my TA can sort out the refund from Cunard - but he didn't book anything else of my trip - that's all on us. In our case if we fail we have to get ourselves from SF to Barcelona - so that will be interesting - and something we may just start taking trains east and see what happens. Presumably we will be able to find some flight to somewhere in Europe from some north American city. I figure we'll have what 5 days ? of isolation to do the planning in.
  14. I completely agree so can someone who has actually completed the health declaration confirm that it doesn't actually include you providing the test results? That's seriously nuts. We are boarding in the US and the rules are that we can test 2 days prior
  15. You mean the weather is going to be pretty cool? there is no tone to be set while standing for hours in the queues for boarding - regardless of the cruise line - except maybe trackpants to facilitate sitting on the floor when you get tired of standing
  16. No testing agency should be providing your personal medical information to a third party unless you know that's happening up front. Isn't this the whole point of the health questionaire that you have to fill in after you've done the test? You say you are positive and I assume things happen from there?
  17. Trying to work out whether there is anything to see at this port or whether a tour is worthwhile. Iknow we could go to the beach - but we have other beach stops on this cruise - more interested in wildlife and the jungle.
  18. I thought I'd update my close contact's address details on my cunard. I know it didn't work a few years ago - I guessed it would be fine now. Yeah, nah. 2 different browsers using updated windows machine. Tried to check the current price of our booked cruises. Nothing - no cruises available to any destination on en-au version of the website. I have a background of 10 years in developing websites for clients - I'd be embarassed if cunard.com was one of mine!
  19. I have just tested positive for Covid - I only tested as we returned to NZ today from Fiji and self-testing is required at the border. Tomorrow I'll arrange a PCR test which is the requirement here (so they can track variants I think). According the CDC I can now use a letter from my doctor to avoid testing when we fly to the USA in July. I'm wondering if the same thing will work for Cunard? Has anyone had any experience with that?
