Late Ovation Royal Up Question
Cruise a holic replied to SWACruising's topic in Royal Caribbean International
congratulations! Not a junior suite? Assume grand or above. You should immediately go to costal kitchen after boarding for lunch- the concierge's should be at their desk. Speak to them as far as arranging your dinner and other reservations. Enjoy. -
Booked Apex for the January 21st to 28th cruise
Cruise a holic replied to glenr's topic in Celebrity Cruises
As your picture shows the restaurant isn’t enclosed. Tables near the curtain can hear the peole headed towards Eden and some stores is very distracting when you are trying to have a quiet meal. The window tables are much better if you get one. On the S and M class ships Blu is an enclosed restaurant. -
Booked Apex for the January 21st to 28th cruise
Cruise a holic replied to glenr's topic in Celebrity Cruises
On the edge, blu is in a crowded hallway- so unless you get a good table away from the hallway- not so pleasant. You also have an infinite balcony- like a regular cabin with a few "perks". The regular cabins have access to three restaurants- you can rotate which is great and each restaurant has slightly varied menus, for example one has a greek theme. I was in a Sky Suite and mostly dined in suite dining room and specialty restaurants, but the concept of the three dining rooms was great. They are much smaller then the ballroom type dining in the regular dining rooms. We still prefer the suite deck and lounge on the edge class ships- and the extra space and storage nice -
We have done a couple of NYE cruises, about three years ago on the Edge. They are great. People in a holiday mood- dressed up to celebrate and it is great fun- hats and noise makers were supplied. This year, we have another NYE cruise on the Apex however, with covid- maybe things have changed- But I am sure will be fun!

actually, I went on an early Edge sailing. Service overall wasn't great. I believe many staff members weren't trained. We will be sailing on the apex later this year on a back to back. Since the ship is out a while now, I anticipate well trained employees and excellent service.

How often do you send out your laundry to be cleaned?
Cruise a holic replied to luv2ndhalf's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We typically send out laundry 2x a week. On a b/2/b same second week. We do pack heavy- but like underwear, socks, pj's and some inexpensive polo's cleaned. I hand wash swim suits, and if necessary dry clean an occasional pair of pants and tops. -
We love the retreat on the Edge- bigger on the apex. The lounge is very large comfortable and offers plenty of seating. The upper portion, has a great large sun deck, full bar and not many shaded areas. The lounge chairs are very plush and comfortable. We try to get their early to reserve our space in the shade for the day as my DH cannot be in the sun. You can also get a nice (limited) menu lunch served. The deck has both a small pool and hot tub. IMO so worth it Makes the cruise extra special. Other perks for suite guest also very good. You will be spoiled and not go back to a regular cabin. Food very good in luminae. And if ordered in advance, they will honor special requests. Enjoy

The summit looks grea, it has been refurbished- others nice but not refurbished yet.

We found Aqua a waste. Didn't like blu- we save the money and dine almost daily in Specialty restaurants. If we aren't in a suite, and CC is reasonably priced, we prefer- the extra points, and better located staterooms worth it to us- or if price high- book a well located balcony and save your money for Specialty restaurants. Since a done deal- enjoy your concierge class stateroom

Current Concierges continued discussion
Cruise a holic replied to CC Help Michell's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Just be in the lounge as soon as the departure time is announced. Speak to concierge day before for specifics. -
Current Concierges continued discussion

Yes. Many people carry off something -
We like to call to reserve air- easy- also we booked via choice air and for our december/january and march cruises flight time and flight numbers change multiple times. So be aware. Not carved in stone if the airline moves planes around.

We were on the Adventure in May with family. We found dining services and food poor. No more AOS for us.

We have sailed on about 50 cruises. Mostly Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. We prefer newer ships. Have repeated many ports. But for us, the ship is the most important part of the destination. Love the Caribbean. Celebrity Royal Princess Disney Carnival NCL Plus a small cruise ship, the stella solaris in Greece many years ago. And a "luxury barge" cruising down the Nile. Will not go back to Disney as it is so overpriced. The best multigenerational cruise IMO is Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships. Just us, we love Celebrity Edge and Solstice class ships.

Help with a cabin selection on The Celebrity Edge
Cruise a holic replied to Kitty16tmc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Definately consider an aft balcony cabin for a true balcony. If your budget allows, consider a sky suite or above. Some near elevators and work for those with limited mobility. -
We did the chef's table on the RC Oasis of the Seas. It was truly a waste for us. Food wasn't good- and we did get wine with each course- but we could have ordered wine with our dinner and some of the wine wasn't for me or my DH. We will stick to booking sp restaurants for a fine dining experience in the future.

On the Beyond Sept 5th. Where are irons or steamers?
Cruise a holic replied to Lindabee5000's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We do not bring any linen clothes. They tend to wrinkle- Try to bring clothes that are "wrinkle free". We also use the fabric softener spray and the pressing and laundry services. -
Ditto with scooter. Also ships are huge and it is a long walk to many venues- why not enjoy the ship and ports.

But the discounts are very small for the dining packages. In the past, we saved so much more. I was hoping that the discounts would be 20% Those days are over
