  1. Actually our ship departs at 6 pm. I would prefer to be back by 4:30. So I guess booking a 3:30 high speed ferry would be best?
  2. Thank you! My only worry is our ship leaves at 7 p.m. All aboard is 6:00 p.m. I'm looking at the 4:30 p.m. slot. Do the seas every get rough to the point where the return trip is cancelled?
  3. How long does it take to get from the ship to Capri by ferry. Im assuming return takes the same amount of time?
  4. We took out travel insurance thst covers all Covid related expenses.
  5. It was passed yesterday for kids 6 months and older. Just remember to time it so they are fully vaxxed. Moderna is 2 shots and Pfizer is 3. Shots will start this week, unless you live in Florida.
  6. If one goes to a pharmacy in Italy to take a proctored Covid antigen test prior to boarding a cruise, do the results get reported to the local Health Department if it comes back positive? And if so, do they determine where and for how long you quarantine? I know in the U.S. the quarantine is 5 days, but I've heard in Italy it is 10 days. I just wonder if it's reported, do you get to quarantine at a hotel of your choice, or do they send you somewhere?
  7. Has anybody else seen the new commercial for Virgin Cruises featuring kids singing their anger that they arent allowed onboard? Its hysterical!😂
  8. Do you know what the promo dates were? If a booking fell between the promo dates, but we did a Lift and Shift, will that qualify for double points?
  9. Are they still giving double points. I thought that ended?
  10. My husband cannot take Paxlovid because he's on a blood thinner and its contraindicated.
  11. As miserable as we both felt, at least neither of us wound up on a ventilator or worse. Obviously with hospitalizations and deaths down, the vaccine is effective. I don't care if it becomes an annual vaccine, like the flu vaccine. I wish the vaccine was available before Covid took my Mom's life in March 2020.
  12. My understanding is that with a Letter of Recovery, you don't have to test. Am I mistaken?
  13. I'm pro vaccine, in fact DH and I are fully vaxed and double boosted. I'm a nurse and have worked through this pandemic and remained virus free. However, 5 days into a recent trip to Florida DH got sick and tested positive. A few days later I was sick and tested positive. We were both pretty sick. I called all around trying to get monoclonal antibodies, but none to be had. Just a warning that even vaxed, you can still be pretty miserable. We were useless for about 10 days. DH has some pre-existing conditions; I have none. Same thing with my young and healthy son and DIL who live in LA. They were both pretty sick too.
  14. When my husband tested positive for Influenza A (on our last cruise February 2020), he was quarantined in our existing cabin. If you don’t leave the cabin, there is no cross contamination. Our cabin attendant wasn’t allowed in our cabin and any room service food was left outside our cabin door. It really doesn’t make sense to move everybody around. That’s when you stand a greater chance of passing on the virus.
  15. If you test positive during your cruise, why can’t you just quarantine in your own cabin?
  16. It really is a shame that dressing for dinner has been so dumbed down. I always ask people who say they wear shorts and flip flops to the MDR, would you wear that to a wedding in a formal venue? If not, then you shouldn't be wearing them into a formal dining room on a ship. I know, "it's my vacation, I paid for it, I'll wear what I want." And we wonder why people in this country have no respect for rules. I know it's not actually a "rule", but there is such a thing as respect and common sense. Which apparently many are lacking. The waitstaff dresses for dinner; is it that hard for the passengers to do the same? What you wear won't impact my dinner, I think it's disrespectful to the venue and staff. My opinion, just like those who wear shorts have theirs.
  17. Thank you all for your responses! It is most helpful!
  18. We have the classic alcohol beverage package for a future cruise on Celebrity. My husband, due to some medications, is unable to drink alcohol. First question, do they have any non-alcohol wine and/or beers onboard. And secondly, with the classic alcohol beverage package would he be able to get a soda or other non-alcohol beverage? Ordinarily we wouldn't take the "all-included", but we had no choice.
  19. 2 1/2 years as a nurse working around Covid. Managed to avoid it. 5 days into a vacation in south Florida, hubby and I both got Covid. Wear our masks everywhere (but no one in Marco island does) We're vaxxed and double boosted. And feel like crap. Cant imagine how much worse we'd be without vaccines. Only positive thing is its been a cheap vacation. We've been quarantined for over a week, so no restaurant dining for us. Hopefully we ferl better in a couple if days because this is one miserable virus.
  20. So sorry for your loss. It's so disrespectful when i hear people say this virus is no big deal. It is if you've lost a loved one before vaccines were available.
  21. I agree that Covid will be sticking around longer and perhaps forever and keep mutating. But we can't compare the 1 million lives lost to Covid to Norovirus and Influenza. Hopefully it will weaken over time and anti-virals will become more readily available. I'm glad you had a mild case of Covid and have recovered. I lost my Mom to Covid before the vaccine was developed 😞
  22. Thank you for your input. I checked my policy, and it will pay out more than enough to cover our expenses if we missed the cruise. It's only a 3 night cruise. However, I called the insurance company, and what may not be covered is reimbursement of the cruise fare itself. We booked the 3 night cruise thinking that, given the price of hotels and meals, it was less to do the 3 night cruise prior to a 10 night cruise. We normally go in at least 2 days prior to a cruise in the winter, but as I said, the cruise was more cost efficient that spending money on hotels and meals. So we figured we'd fly in the morning of, take the 3 night cruise, and the day that cruise ends,we'd board the other ship for the 10 night. There are so many caveats to this particular situation, I think we're probably just better off going in 2 days prior and forget about doing the 3 night cruise. The deposit is refundable, so no loss. And I can amend the insurance policy to cover our hotel, air, and the 10 day cruise.
  23. Thank you. That pretty much answers my question. I think I'll stick with third party insurance because if we miss the cruise due to a cancelled flight, I will be reimbursed fully as it would be considered trip delay.
  24. If i took insurance through Royal and my independently booked air is cancelled and i miss the cruise, is my cruise fare reimbursed? I usually use third party insurance, but this is just a 3 night cruise and given age is not considered with Royal's insurance, its more reasonably priced.
