  1. Yes, thanks, visited there a few years ago. Great place!
  2. We had planned on Scoma’s for lunch but when calling to reserve, discovered they’re closed on Tuesdays. That figures, we’ll be there on a Tuesday. 😟 There are other good choices. Will also look into Fish as mentioned above. Thank you!
  3. Wow, thanks all! No issues with walking, fortunately. We need to stay in SD more than 1 day! Really appreciate the feedback!
  4. We’ll be spending the day in San Diego (during a cruise stop) and looking for opinions on a good, local lunch spot. We’re particularly interested in quality Mexican or perhaps a family owned Italian place. Appreciate your input! 😎
  5. We’ll be there in a few weeks, love a good margarita!
  6. Thanks! That was exactly our plan. Will make lunch reservations for Scomas and wander around. Love the idea of ferry ride in SF Bay!
  7. Re: lion1956 quote on Sausalito: we’ll be on this same cruise in a few weeks with an overnight in SF. We had tentatively planned to visit Sausalito but questioning this after reading your comments. Anyone else think it might be worth a visit? Planning on using the ferry.
  8. Even though we’d all like to know the facts, it’s not appropriate for the ship Physician to discuss numbers of Covid nor anything else about passenger’s health. Of course, he should be relating this info to ship Captain and if elevated, should recommend passengers wear masks. We all know how that would go over. Minimal compliance.
  9. Appreciate your response. It was a total “cluster.” I can’t tell you how many different departments I spoke to, mostly to RS, Mgr of RS, cabin steward…nobody would take responsibility. Was also told by all “Do not put dishes outside door, they have to be red-bagged.” I’m an RN and understand infection control. Certainly don’t want to contribute to problem. Our terribly overworked cabin steward frequently picked up dishes, red bagged all WITHOUT wearing gloves. 😳 Can’t understand why it was not more organized after all this time dealing with Covid. Room Service did pick up on occasion. Was the first time on a cruise I felt depressed and trapped, fortunately my DH did well. After he was diagnosed, we were scheduled to be in Aruba in 2 days, I researched flights to get home, that’s all I wanted to do! Was told by Medical that this was a public health emergency and would not be allowed to leave ship. Sorry…the frustration lingers. I can understand both sides.
  10. We were on the Regal in Jan., DH developed mild symptoms, used one of our home tests, unfortunately +. Medical notified, tested again, another +. Fortunately I remained neg. They were going to move me to another cabin but ship was at 100%. He had to be isolated for 5 days but said I could leave cabin with mask on. Re: those little tables, we never got one and had to make lots of phone calls just to have piles of food dishes removed in red bags. Actually had to put some out on balcony there were so many. Nobody would take responsibility for removal. It seemed there was no protocol in place. Very frustrating. He did turn negative on day 5 which was the last full day of the cruise. We stayed busy all day. We’re scheduled for CA Coastal in a few weeks, just a bit anxious about this! We try to stay prepared, fully boosted. And yes hubby was given OBC for the 5 days of isolation. And the travel insurance fully reimbursed us for expenses on board for medical.
  11. I realize room service varies even on same ship. I have to add a compliment, we were on Regal in Jan., unfortunately DH became + with Covid. We enjoyed meals from MDR over 5 nights. They were all served at same warm temp as one would get in MDR. We ordered a special meal on New Years’ Eve and it was absolutely wonderful. No complaints about temp, quality or amount served. They took good care of us!
  12. True, that’s why I came here for advice. It seems the layover times are either less than 2 hrs or 4+ hours. And of course the EZAir prices are so much more reasonable than booking straight thru the airlines. Will keep looking. Thanks for everyone’s input.
  13. Thanks for this! Delta all the way to Santiago. Am concerned about this layover after an unforgettable transit thru CDG, had sufficient time but lines thru immigration, etc. and lack of staff caused us to miss our connection. Had to spend an additional 11 hrs in terminal waiting for next flight. Don’t want a repeat of that.
  14. Hi all: we have a S America cruise booked for next Feb. Have already had to change flight booking twice. One that appeals to us has a layover in Sao Paolo (from MIA) of only 1hr23min. Anyone been through there with such a short international layover? Appreciate any advice. BTW, this is an EZAir offering. Good price.
  15. Thanks for your suggestions, esp info re: transportation. Our ship will be there overnight and leave second day at 5pm so should have plenty of time to look around.
  16. We’re doing a California coastal in June and ship is scheduled to be spending an overnight in San Francisco. I’m looking at taking the ferry to Sausalito and wondering if anyone has any hints on what to do and see there. Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
  17. Maybe I should clarify “short” walk into town. From the ship it took about 15 min, on level ground. There was a “parade” of passengers headed to the main shopping street. Mobility challenged can take the transportation into town, they run frequently. Yes, I agree with you, since that was our last full day on the ship, we wanted to enjoy.
  18. We stopped at Ensenada on the way back from a Hawaii trip. There’s a fairly short walk into “town” (or ship sponsored trolley). We found your typical array of silver/jewelry shops and of course a good variety of liquor, especially Tequila. We did buy some silver jewelry and DH found tequila he liked. Spent maybe an hour shopping, then back to ship for afternoon cocktails. Did not feel the need to go beyond shopping area.
  19. Thanks friends! Have decided to leave flight as is, do a self walk off and NOT do shuttle. It would drive me crazy waiting for it to fill up and depart. You’ve convinced me it can work. Have a good one!
  20. We’re on a CA Coastal out of San Pedro in June. Delta just changed our flight (again) out of LAX (from a good departure of 1215 to 1104). Never sailed out of San Pedro previously, curious how tight it may be to make this 1104 flight? We reserved spots on the shuttle to LAX but am now am thinking we should do rideshare or taxi instead. Appreciate any thoughts!
  21. same thing happened to us last year and missed Grand Cayman, which was the main reason we chose that itinerary. Capt. stated same, water too rough for the tenders, even sent out crew to check it out. It was a no go. 😕
  22. Thank you so much! Great ideas. I did go to Ports of Call boards, actually did not have as much good info as you just provided.
  23. We’ll be on Enchantment late June. Looking for excursions by locals, specifically in Sicily, Rome, FLR & Provence. We’re family of 5, three kids (18,17,14). Any suggestions? Thanks!
