  1. Please don't blame the victim.
  2. Great excuse for some popcorn and champagne before lunch. It has always been fun on the Quest and other Seabourn ships, except when the CD doesn't like your team!
  3. I don't believe so. If Microsoft discriminates against someone in Italy, Italian law would apply. I am not an expert in maritime law, but to the extent that the ship is not under U.S. jurisdiction (i. e. in territorial waters or a US flagged vessel) I believe it would be subject to the law of the country of registry (the Bahamas).
  4. Our only experience was on SS was an Antarctic cruise last November. It was the worst cruise my wife have ever experienced. COVID was rampant because of poor protocols. The passengers ranged from over-entitled to dull. Our first cruise without having a meaningful conversation with any passengers. The expedition staff was basically an amateur clown show. We got a little tired of the fact that by night eighteen the restaurant host was still asking us for our room number. Most staff were ok, few superlative. The food was ok at best. Can't wait to get back to Seabourn in January and to try to see Antarctica properly. Some of our cruises on Seabourn have been better than others but we have always enjoyed good company and good food. We have never left a Seabourn ship saying never again.
  5. We were on Silversea Antarctica cruise (never again) last November and the weight limit was never clearly announced and like most things (e.g., COVID protocols) was not enforced anyway. I would hope Seabourn would set a policy, make everyone aware of it, and enforce it.
  6. The problem was straightened out quickly by a call to Seabourn. For some reason they had my hometown listed as in Texas (Have cruised many times with Seabourn and they always had my correct address). The receptionist immediately corrected it and all is well.
  7. Thank you. If I try to use the booking site it only allows me to return to Texas - we live near Washington, DC.
  8. Can one use FlightEase for one way flights?
  9. Letting the Som or even the wine pourer know that you appreciate wine is a good start, but even better is to make sure that when you are drinking wine you bring aboard some is set aside for the Som so they can know your tastes and learn about wines they have never tasted before.
  10. Sorry about the wine shop confusing. It was a wine bar I was mentioning . I hope it is still there as we are booked on the Quest Antarctic cruise next year.
  11. Those of you on the Quest headed to Montevideo there is a wonderful wine bar just outside the cruise port gate. The owner will give you a great recommendation for a restaurant.in the attached market. Steak to die for.
  12. Pulpit rock is a tough climb. Avoid it when wet - it will be slippery and likely shrouded in fog.
  13. Are there still belly buttons at the old British navel base? PS Love your posts.
  14. Damned delightful drivel. Thank you.
  15. P. S. Our quarantine time was spent listening again to Endurance on Audible. Great narration and highly recommended.
  16. Your reports are much enjoyed and reassuring. Last November, we were on another "luxury" ship on an Antarctic cruise, which was pretty much ruined by lax COVID (fully vaccinated required, but those who showed up for boarding without proof were just tested), protocols, seven days COVID quarantine, and a very lackluster expedition team. We have previously sailed on the Quest two times and loved it. I am trying to convince my reluctant wife to try Antarctica again next year on the Quest. Can you describe the COVID protocols on this cruise. Are you aware of any COVID cases onboard? Hope these questions aren't bothersome.
  17. Probably a question of little importance to most. On the leg from Santiago on to Antarctica, South Georgia and beyond are there formal nights and, if so, how dressy are the dressiest of passengers. Any tuxes? Thanks.
  18. Thank you for the answers. One landing a day would be fine for us.
