  1. Hi Selbourne You might find this website useful for New Orleans: https://www.neworleans.com/plan/accessibility/faqs/#:~:text=Is the French Quarter Wheelchair, can be enjoyed via wheelchair. A couple of things we did in NOLA were: - Coffee and beignets in Cafe du Monde the cafe is open to the street and whilst busy it’s on one level. The staff were very helpful when we went. If it’s too busy for you they also have a stall in the shopping mall on the quayside where you can get your beignets to go. - Wander around the market in the French Quarter - Took a steamboat cruise on the Natchez We didn’t do Bourbon Street as our daughter was only 10 at the time but NOLA was a real highlight of our cruise and there was loads that we didn’t get to see.
  2. Life is for living and I’m sure you will both have a wonderful time. Can’t wait to follow the live from!
  3. Well he did have to look after the jam butty mines 😂 Doddy was a huge supporter of the NHS and hosted the NHS carol concert in Liverpool every year whilst he was well enough to do it.
  4. Thanks for coming back and letting the board know. I hope you start to feel better soon.
  5. Great to hear as we’re on Iona in a few weeks. I think we might get on as Tiger B gets off.
  6. I’ll see what the ‘temperature’ is like on this board over the next few weeks and decide then.
  7. We’re on Iona in a few weeks so I’ll see for myself. I was going to do a ‘live from’ but given the level of vitriol the ship attracts I’m probably not going to now. ☹️
  8. I believe that’s now changed, hence the queue for the best seats!
  9. Well if it does turn out to be pagers when we board in a few weeks, we won’t use the MDR at all and will just use specialty dining instead!
  10. I do hope not! I have no interest in sharing a table - ever!
  11. We go on `Iona in a few weeks and yes ours says the same. I wonder what the system will be instead?
  12. We did a 35 nighter a while ago with our then 10 year old daughter on Oriana. There were around 10 other children also on board so not very many at all but it was an amazing cruise. Even better if you go via Tenerife rather than the Azores which is what we did. Watching the colour of the sea change as the days get warmer and you head towards the Caribbean was fabulous and we’d do it again in a heartbeat.
  13. I feel your pain! 😂 We’re due to cruise on Iona in a few weeks and was going to do a ‘live from’ but don’t think I’ll bother now given the reception the ship gets from a few extremely vocal individuals and also the ridiculous turn the recent ‘Saga’ review took. I cruise to have a nice holiday and relax, especially after the last 12 months where I lost my Mum in quite traumatic circumstances and had major surgery 10 weeks ago. I CBA to defend my holiday experience against those descend like locusts on nearly every single thread.
  14. Good morning! Congratulations to the family K on their new arrival and Bon voyage to all those heading off on holiday. So I had my C booster last week and now have an unexpected side effect of COVID toe! You couldn’t make it up 😂😂 I had a little go at driving yesterday after my shoulder replacement, a bit uncomfortable but it’s a start. Have a great day everyone.
  15. We also had the upgrade email and booked with a TA not that we’ll be bidding as we’re more than happy with our deluxe balcony cabin. For information the prices to bid for an upgrade are as follows: Suite £470pp Family suite £420pp Conservatory mini-suite £240pp This is on Iona and interestingly the email splits the conservatory mini-suites into Promenade and non-promenade categories (even though the price is the same).
  16. Good morning! Covid jab today and hopefully home before Agnes pays a visit. The rest of the day will be sorting out presents for my daughter’s birthday and port planning for our upcoming cruise on Iona. Have a great day and stay safe!
  17. It’s the same on Royal Caribbean in that it’s shared with the behind the scenes staff. You can remove, reduce or increase the auto-gratuities at guest services but we’ve never felt the need to do so on our RCI cruises. We just view it as part of the cost of the cruise and factor it in when looking at the overall cost.
  18. Quite simply yes. We started cruising with P&O in 2002 and back then there wasn’t the choice of alternative venues that we have now. I’m a pescatarian and a fussy one at that and P&O have served me very well with my restricted diet - much more so than some of the other cruise lines I’ve sailed with.
  19. I know my late Mum would have as she was a very plain eater and she wasn’t alone in that respect. I read some posts on this board and wonder why the heck some people put themselves through the horror (in their minds) of a P&O Cruise 😂😂😂
  20. If that was the full menu I’d agree but it’s only a small selection of it as per the original post. Having done a long cruise in the past we got to the point where we craved ‘normal’ food so whilst it wouldn’t appeal to me as a pescatarian my husband would have maybe appreciated it. I had a quick mooch through other boards and there are complaints about the standard of food on most of them, including Celebrity and Cunard which goes to show how subjective the perceived quality of food is.
  21. It looks like you had a fabulous day in my home city. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary 🎉🎉
  22. Good morning everyone after reading Josy’s post what I was going to write seems so trivial. I can’t even begin to imagine how you and the family are feeling but I send you all of my love and thoughts ❤️❤️
  23. Me too! Especially as my handbag brand of choice isn’t available onboard.
  24. Today I’m back to physio for my next set of exercises/torture 😂. I’m pleased with my recovery so far but being off work is costing me a fortune - we booked another cruise yesterday adding to another one we booked a fortnight ago! A miserable day here but at least the garden is getting watered.
