I’ve lost track of the wifi prices for elites, I have a 4 day cruise and the price is $77.52 with 50% off

i have a 15 day cruise and the price is the same $77.52 going by the app for both cruises so I think the 15 day cruise is a glitch in the system

Bob, if you have a 15 day cruise and that is the price, book now. There have been a few errors in the app on this cruise….one being two specialty dinners for $78, so take it what you can!

I'm doing a B2B so it's Tokyo, Aomori, Akita, Busan, Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Tokyo, Busan, Sasebo, Beppo, Shimizu. I'll have a couple of days in Tokyo pre and post-cruise.

Hoping to find the cherry blossom still intact when we get to Aomori where it will still be quite a lot cooler than Tokyo. I've been to Japan once before and loved it but not cruised there before.

We have friends who have posted photos today of Mt. Fuji and Cherry blossoms. Absolutely amazing.Just hope to see half of what they posted.

It's the luck of the draw with Mt Fuji sightings. If we hadn't known where it was last year we wouldn't have guessed there was a mountain there, it was solid cloud.

Fingers crossed you get a good sighting. 😊

    Yes, hopefully this time!

We were going to do a cruise on the lake at the base of Mt Fuji and then a Tea ceremony.

Not sure what we will do next year.

That’s sounds like a great tour. Cruise going great, you would have loved it! Hong Kong on Friday after 5 sea days, which we have hardly noticed.

By "see My Fuji" do you mean just see it from a distance or actually go there?

If it's the first it is weather dependant but if you're lucky you'll get this view - taken from Diamond Princess in April 2018.

I can't recall if there were any last minute tours offered at the port. We just wandered around Shimizu on that trip. If you actually want to go closer to Mt Fuji, i.e. to the Visitor Centre, or even up the mountain to the Kawaguchi-ko Fifth Station as we did on a land tour in 2006, then it's probably best to book an excursion.

No just view Mt Fuji! We do have a ships tour booked but it is just views too! If we can see Mt Fuji from the Port, we will be happy! We missed it last time (weather not great). I will go and see the Destination Expert this afternoon. Thanks all.

  6. Morning all,

For all of you that have been to Japan, can you see Mt Fuiji easily from this Port (subject to weather) or do I need a ships excursion. It is the last day afternoon of our cruise and as we have been to Japan before this is the only interest in this Port. If we can do something on our own for a short time it would be our choice. If we need the tour, so be it!

    Thanks

The $250pp is still out of pocket, which may/may not be compensated by the cruise line.

We will be flying Singapore shortly and have the cancellation fee to the equivalent of about $100. Problem is all these $100add up with different legs of the trip. Although much better than losing the fare all together.

Length and beam at and below the waterline (not LOA) are the main restrictions. There is plenty of room above the waterline and the wharf is large enough to accept two of these ships at the same time.

It is the width of the dredged shipping channel and the area of the dredged turning basin that restricts what ships can visit. There has been work done 5 - 10 years ago to increase the size of the channel & turning basin. Prior to that, even Pacific Dawn would tender from Yorkeys. She could physically fit in Cairns, but her design made it difficult to navigate the tight channel. Back in her earlier days as Regal Princess, she drifted out of the channel and was briefly stuck.

Geoff, Another question for you, what Princess ships that sail in Aust has a concierge lounge?. I know Majestic and Royal do, but what about Crown and Diamond. PS I am getting used to it unfortunately!😩

Did Yorkey's last month on Quantum. Completely hopeless getting 4000 people off and on by tender. Never again.

Exactly. Our son lives in Cairns and have wasted at times 1/2 day getting off even with priority tendering. Doesn’t matter when Royal Caribbean or Princess too many people to get off!

I can't see that any ship over 290m length has gotten onto Cairns wharf.

    Voyager is 311m.

I think I have been to Vila and Auckland though on Voyaget? I don’t want to tender in Yorkeys though, so my options are limited. I have a hold on a Crown Princess cruise, so that might be it for us it does say Cairns.

Definitely a limit of $22 per drink for those of us still on the old plus package. We ordered Katnook Cab Sav last night at dinner. Cost on menu was $23 per glass. Charge to our account was $1 per glass.  Most cocktails are still covered. Just had a 24K Gold Margarita.

So weird. We were told $20, wish they could make up their mind.

Royal Caribbean has listed Voyager of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas as new ships sailing out of Brisbane and Sydney.

If Voyager can avoid tendering at places like Cairns, Port Vila and closer to town in Auckland, I might just cruise from Brisbane.

Anthem doesn’t hold any joy for me unfortunately.

Enjoy the rest of the cruise. it's a lovely itinerary and it looks to be quite a good crowd. The passengers seem to be a lot more lively than on the Tas/SA cruise last week... which was a very elderly crowd. I knew the destinations would attract a certain crowd but thought maybe because of Easter and Qld school hols it might skew a bit younger, but it was definitely the oldest demographic I've seen onboard.

I'm very surprised at the family mix on the current cruise, being that it's a long cruise and ends in Japan. I'd say the average age is about 20+ years younger than last week, at least. I was not expecting that.

Thank you and safe travels for you too. I hope your parents enjoyed their trip too or did they only do the TAS?. I find Australian itineraries attract older people as no passports required. I am surprised about the amount of children on board, as I generally don’t find a great deal on the longer cruises. Yesterday all areas were packed inside  as it wasn’t outside weather wasn’t great. I am sure the rest of the trip will go well, and hopefully the weather will behave too.

    Rule #1

Always take a change of clothes, plus whatever you need to freshen up, in your carry-on.

We've had to resort to using ours once. Oddly enough that was on Royal, out of Barcelona in 2017. We dropped our bags off around 10:30am so they had plenty of time to get them to us. They arrived just as we were leaving our cabin, around 7pm, for our pre-dinner drink. 🙄

We had clothes, but not suitable for dinner and make up was looking very tired! Even this old woman didn’t know look ok😩

Well in line this morning my friends overheard a conversation from some people fretting about the fact they have to get off in Brisbane as they thought the ship was returning to Sydney. They had no idea the ship had commenced the repo to Alaska. So therefore they had made no arrangements to return to Sydney. They assumed very wrongly in was a round trip.

OMG that’s beats mine, by far! BTW first theatre show cancelled tonight due to technical issues. Last time this happened on Royal Caribbean, we had no shows at all.

Ok, someone approached me and couldn't work out where they knew my face from. They were from Port Macquarie and cruise a lot.

Anyone else on CC I could be missing?

Not sure on that one, but if I see you I will chat, although you are getting off tomorrow. Definitely not me. Our luggage was extremely late being delivered so after dinner straight back to room for us as I was starting to get concerned, and we didn’t look great as we could not change or freshen up, so didn’t hang around anywhere last night.
