Ok, someone approached me and couldn't work out where they knew my face from. They were from Port Macquarie and cruise a lot.
Anyone else on CC I could be missing?
Not sure on that one, but if I see you I will chat, although you are getting off tomorrow. Definitely not me. Our luggage was extremely late being delivered so after dinner straight back to room for us as I was starting to get concerned, and we didn’t look great as we could not change or freshen up, so didn’t hang around anywhere last night.

Did you speak to me in Allegro dining room tonight, thinking I looked familiar??

If they try that on me I might have some fun:
- You can have two speciality desserts a day - Will Princess provide free medical care in the case of diabetic coma due to eating said desserts? No? Value $0
- You can have unlimited juices from the juice bar when it's open - See above. Value $0
- You can have two fitness classes per cruise or sector - Do they have fitness classes designed specifically for seniors with joint issues? No? Value $0
- You can have two free casual dining meals per cruise or sector - No thanks, we prefer the MDR for lunch on sea days. Value $0
- The Ocean Now delivery access fee is included - We don't use Ocean Now to order things unless we're ill and anyway Princess already gave us OBC to cover this. Value $0
- You won't get charged for ordering room service by phone. - See above. Value $0
<loud voice> So you want us to pay over $5000 to upgrade our package for no benefit to us? We need that money to buy wine by the bottle as most of the included wines are poor quality and there is very little choice - certainly not the 25 wines by the glass that were advertised.
I wonder what they'd say or do if we did do this? I'll try to resist temptation unless someone pushes too much and gets up my nose! 🤣
They are pushing all those things actually! Definitely won’t be getting us, but they are getting many!

It must be a nightmare for all concerned, except those paying as they go.
They are trying really hard to upgrade guests. From the minute we boarded must have been asked 10 times. Not for us though.

Yes, for the Royal class ships.
We felt the same with a suite on Majestic late last year. Spending each evening in the concierge lounge, we didn't get value out of our drinks package. We could have easily managed with concierge and our mini bar.
Because of that, we have booked a suite on Discovery as a standard fare.
Definitely don’t need it. Standard fare would have been sufficient for us but as our upgrade was a bid, probably too late to cancel.

Is that a suite perk?
Apparently, but never had it in the past.

I wish they'd make up their mind! In the last couple of weeks I've heard of $22, $20, $18, and the T&Cs for the older packages still show $16.
As long as it covers our favourite cocktails and liqueurs/digestifs, plus we still get 25% off wine by the bottle, we'll be happy. Upgrading wouldn't actually give us anything we want.
Which ship are you on?
Royal Princess. We also get Concierge drinks, so not sure why we need the package at all. Wish I could cancel it!

Hi all, Just an update to the old plus package. The drinks limit price is $20AUD. I did ask the upgrade price and it was $630. Not for us🤣. We will find something I am sure.

A shame but sensible actions, the weather is forecast to be better by noon, so that will be better for those embarking.
Drop your bags after checking out of the hotel, grab some lunch come back at 2 or 3pm.
That’s the plan at this stage. Aren’t you glad you pulled out this cruise?

Don't rush to the port. The Captain just announced over the cabin speakers that we are expected to dock 3 hours late as the Pilot will not be able to get to us until 7.30am, instead of 4.30am.
Luckily we can get a late check out.

Supposed to be a bit better by tomorrow midday? Think I will be exploring Sydney before the cruise in the pouring rain!
As I hear the rain belting against our hotel windows. I hope to be on board be midday! Need to dry ourselves off after two days in Sydney.

I'm on the Royal Princess and we're just turning north from the south east tip of Victoria to travel up the east coast. Sydney tomorrow and Brisbane on Monday. We've had mill pond seas for a week in Bass Strait so let's see what happens over the next few days!
I am boarding tomorrow. Absolutely horrible weather in Sydney as I write this.

Thanks Cheryle
yes it was a good cruise and i’ve never seen on any cruise where you had to queue up 1hour 40mins to get a decent seat to watch a show and when the show started it was standing room only
Let us know when you see another good one and we might join you.

I haven’t cruised p&o for about 5 years and I just got home today after doing an Elvis 4 day cruise to Airlie beach from Brisbane
the entertainment was first class with all the Elvis entertainers onboard and to get a good seat in the Black Circus or the theatre you had to get there 45 to 60 mins early to get a decent seat
they had a show booked in for 2.30pm yesterday and people were lined up at 12.45pm to get in and watch the show in the Black Circus and that show was supposed to end about 3.30 but the Elvis entertainer said they was no acts after him so he gave the crowd their moneys worth and finished about 4.45pmI’ve never done an Elvis cruise but p&o put on a great show, anyone who hasn’t done one and is 60+ it’s worth the wait to line up if your an Elvis fan
Glad you enjoyed yourself Bob!

So excited!
Four days ago we received the dreaded "You've been outbid!" email. We'd already bid as much as we could afford so did nothing even though it was a relatively low bid - not the minimum but still fairly low.
This morning we got the upgrade email - a mid-aft starboard side minisuite, which is exactly what I wished for. 😊😊😊😊😊
It is weird how the bid process works. We put a very low bid in for the cheapest suite on our upcoming cruise, which was a forward facing premium suite. We also got a notification to say it wasn’t accepted and we thought ok, we are happy with our mini. The next email we got was if we wanted to add an extra $60 each to our low offer we would get an aft facing penthouse suite for the same price, which we did. This cabin was being offered at over $2700 each more minimum bid on the original offer! Same on Majestic recently I rejected their counter bid to a premium deluxe balcony for an extra $78 but got the same cabin anyway! Not sure how the process works.

I hate to tell you but the US Plus wines may be worse than Willowglen, and that's saying something! We only tried three on Diamond:
- the pinot noir which wasn't as good as the Australian one
- the pinot grigio which had no pinot grigio characteristics and was even more bland than the Willowglen Semillon/Sauvignon
- the chardonnay which, like the Willowglen, was overly oaky with that raw new oak flavour.
Luckily I'd budgeted for wines by the bottle and we had some very nice ones, made even more enjoyable by our wonderful waiter sourcing Riedal glasses for us. We were very spoilt!
We are only on to Yokohama so hopefully after that all might change. They then go to US dollars. Believe me I know from Cunard some US wines need a lot to be desired! I think our OBC will stretch to bottle wine occasionally.

Congratulations! Amazing for a world trip.

It will be interesting to hear what they are doing on Royal. At least $18 covers the price of all the wines on that pathetic Plus list.
I am wondering on our cruise if they might have other wines too. Might try and get rid of all the Australian wine before Vancouver. Will report next week though. We are prepared to start off with the Willowglen and see how the OBC goes.

I'm not sure. Someone on the Coral Round Australia cruise which is just about over reported not getting the $22 limit, they were limited to $18, so I suspect that change came in for that voyage.
I am on the 6th April, so it will be interesting to see what they say on Royal. I am guessing the same as Coral.
