@Traveller20074 I crossed the border (Washington state to BC) by car with my kids and my mother (biological grandmother to the children.) This was a few years ago. The kids and I visited my family in the Pacific NW before we headed to embark on our Crystal Serenity Alaska cruise at Vancouver Place. (My mom drove us to Vancouver, stayed overnight with the kids and me one night in a hotel, drove us to the port where we were joined by DH, she got to dine with us on the ship because Crystal was awesome, then she visited family to break up her long drive home to Oregon.)

I had looked this very border crossing issue up, so had a letter from my husband stating that he knew I was taking our children out of the country. IIRC, DH was literally in the air (en route from New England to Vancouver) to join us for our cruise, so luckily the Canadian Border Patrol didn't attempt to call him. Of course, I also had a folder full of his exact airline itinerary, our dated cruise documents, a reservation at a hotel, etc.

I do believe that the person in the booth asked my kids questions similar to what @donaldsc mentioned: "What's your name. Who are these people with you? Is this your mom? Your grandma? Where is your dad? Where are you going today?"

I'm a mildly anxious type, but it wasn't too bad, and I did feel like the agent was being careful, but not excessively so. It wasn't scary, just thorough.

I can't recall if I had him get the form notarized, but I probably didn't unless I'd read that I needed to. (It is quite easy to get things notarized at our local bank branch, so it wouldn't stick out too much in my mind if we did it.)

    thank you!

  2. YAY!   what a great surprise to see Entourage AND Splash Academy open!   my grandkids had a blast!

they've changed it a bit, from Circus at Sea, to activities.   one of them was to get a picture of you with a crew member 🙂  my grandson loved it

we had all the forms filled out.  custody papers, etc   they never looked at em once lol  they looked at their Birth Certificates, and passports and we were good to go.  I woudn't have traveled without them, but they never asked

During the day when cruising? I get up at 6 and don't go to sleep til 11pm..

The only way I can do that is to take a nap...usually from 2-3:30...I get up energized and ready to go...and I sleep so good on the ship..

    Yes, I'm getting older..lol

lol I didn't this last time untill I was so wiped out, I passed out lol   felt good though. I always feel like im going to miss something

  5. Sitka was boring since our excursion through Viator was cancelled 😞

well, not boring, but wasn't enough time to figure out what else to do.  I can't walk far so was a little disapointed in the cancellation

What I did, if you are able to read this, is make it so you sleep on your side.  It helped me, when I couldn't have access to a cpap while traveling, and may help you. Use some pillows behind you on the bed so you are staying away from being stuck on your back.

Depending on what helps with your particular case is also some breath right strips and trying as best you can to stay on your side.

Good news.  I called CVS and got a mask set up...drove up the road from the hotel the next morning, and then checked out and went to board.   the best part is that it was a new type of mask, and this works much better than my old one!   a blessing in disguise 🙂

Hmmm- you are right - they are prohibited...I just checked the RCL prohibited  items list:

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/prohibited-items-onboard-policy

I have been on 2 RCL cruises and never a word said about my extension cords - guess I was just lucky.

Also best to leave my little Swiss Army knife home too - handy little thing to have with lots of little tools.

Glad NCL has no such restriction.

    no pocket knives on NCL

Google CPAP or medical supply stores in the area you are in. You may be able to get a replacement before you sail or at a port.

We had a cpap issue on a Bermuda sailing when my mom brought the wrong water container. That was discovered on the first night when the machine whistled and leaked and could not be used.  She really needs it to sleep.  I was able to find a piece that allowed her to use the machine and both of us to be able to sleep.  I had to take a taxi to get the part. But it was worth it. It took google time, several phone calls, an expensive taxi ride and a visit to a tiny cottage behind a medical supply store in Bermuda…but it all worked out.

I posted this in your roll call in hopes you see it. Worth a try as it did allow my mom to get Some rest the second half of the week.

if anyone has a CPAP issue on a Bermuda sailing, call The Medical House. They were awesome.

Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

thank you!!!  I also heard that some CVS drug stores carry them. i will be calling every store in Seattle to find one tomorrow.  .Most medical places are closed on the weekend so I'm wondering if i can amazon one to Sitka where I'm be on Tuesday. at least i will have it for part of the week🤪

Odd.  For the first time in the 18 months I've been using a CPAP, I did a grocery order (for pick-up) and they subbed a gallon of spring water for distilled.  Totally my fault, I didn't read clearly and approved it.

No it hasn't.  I just got a confirmation on my "Special Needs" request yesterday.  Might they run out?  Sure.  But assuming no supply chain issues, they'll supply the water (BYO cord.)  Sorry to hear about leaving your cushion at home.  I was in Montreal a couple weeks ago and left my "elbow" so couldn't use my device either.  Haven't slept that well in a long time 🙂

I'm still awake.  at 3 am😪   i was googling and forgetting parts to the CPAP is common   7 days without mine. ugh

Ship's discretion and/or supply chain issues - retired chief "cheng" got insider's tip/a brilliant idea too 👴 - pack a collapsible gallon water jug (sporting goods/outdoor camping store or Amazon route)

If our other BIL is cruising too, he would be very upset about this - OP, which ship is this happening to you.  And thank you for the heads-up for the "CC community"

ive neverhad any problem getting an extension cord from my cabin steward for the entire duration of the cruise. on our recent cruise (april 8 thru 17th) my wife has leg cramps and they can only be alleviated by drinking gator ade. i contacted ncl and they allowed me to bring 6 bottles on board. if ncl cant supply distilled water, try and make arrangements to bring y our own on board

I can't find it in my local stores and Amazon charges an arm and a leg.    I am not going to lug a gallon jug to the cruise lolol

We are sailing on the Bliss (assuming our covid tests later today are negative) this Saturday.

I just got off the phone with the NCL Accessibility Department (1-866-584-9756).

I was told they are no longer supplying extension cords because theirs kept disappearing.  We can bring on our own extension cord for the CPAP and cord can be either with or without surge protection.  I thought there was a rule that one or the other was not allowed but gentleman I spoke to said that is no longer the case.

He said there will be no problem in getting distilled water once on the ship.  Said to just show the cabin steward the CPAP machine and distilled water would be provided.

I'll try that, but it probably wont be since they told me they don't do that
