  1. Now I have ads that move around my screen!! At least they have the "X" to close them, but unfortunately on every page you have to do it!! I DO NOT LIKE these ads! Please make them less obtrusive!

  2. One thing I just remembered also is that on formal nights they would take pictures of you on that staircase right there by the casino. (That area is nice for pictures and we do like having some taken in our formalwear). We have one on our desktop and looking at that picture you would be able to see casino machines in the background or in other pictures the chairs (edging into the atrium) would be in the picture. They may have to rethink using that staircase now.

  3. In the better late than never category....

I promised photos of my beautiful recycled handbags on my cruise and here they are.

First the great evening bag from Amy (magandab).

This was a formal night (Valentine's Day).

Then the very useful crossbody bag from Marie (Porthopper101).

Thank you both for these wonderful bags!

I love, love, love that red outfit you're wearing! It looks great on you!

  4. Thank you very much for that very interesting report! The information regarding QM2 refit was interesting as well. The Kings Court is always the part that lets QM2 down IMO and I will be glad to see that reworked. Additional rooms on the top deck? Wonder if those will be for solo cruisers like QE just "put in" during her refit a week or so ago? It is hard to believe that they will do a refit like that in January 2015 as she has a TA 3 Jan and does her WC 10 Jan thru April.

  5. I tried to search the forum, and did not come up with any info.

As far as I understand the buffet turns into 2 restaurants in the evening? Hubby and I are trying to decide where we want to eat in Halifax and Boston, and that will depend on what we eat aboard the ship. If anyone has any insight, or menus, we would appreciate it!

The link below should help you. You can also find there a sample of the menus.

If you type in what are the dining options on board? The answer should come up.

  6. We finally booked our flights with Air Canada - the fare was around $1400, but the flight went from over 30 hours with Korean Air to 18 hours with AC. Our first time with Air Canada so I hope it will be a good experience. So I will be happy with what we booked and move on to hotel rooms:)

Glad you are happy with the process! Sounds good from 30 down to 18 hours too. Have fun researching hotel rooms!:)

  7. I can't wait to see actual pictures! It sounds good that the TV's be on the wall and not taking up room on the desk. The window looks a good size too and I wonder how nice the view will be? I think we rarely even went into the casino on QE last time, so next year will have to check it out.

I tried to do a dummy booking for some 2015 cruises (after I figured out to enter 1 as number of passenger...duh) and I finally saw what the solo passengers have to deal with...pricing! For the solo cruisers out there who have tried to book, is booking these new cabins over regular cabins a better deal for you? Just wondering.

  8. Thank you for posting your live blog! Can't wait for the next installment! Glad the waves calmed down a bit and I hope the sun does come out for you. Congratulations on becoming Diamonds!

  9. We will be flying from Atlanta to Hong Kong in April and I am obsessing over when to buy my flights. I think that June is a good month to do this, but I am not sure if the fare I am seeing is good $1200. Anyone have any incites, even if you flew out of another airport?

I totally get it! I know my flight search is not the same but here is what I do.

We had to book a one way flight next March HK to MEL (Aust) so I started my "process" in January of this year. I checked the flight I was interested in for about 20 weeks (made a list of the prices for 20 consecutive weeks). That gave me an idea of what prices were high and low. Once I had that I would check daily/weekly and once the price was where I wanted it I booked, which was just a few weeks ago. In summary, I booked for my March 2015 flight in May 2014. I am aware that the price might go a bit lower than what I paid, but I think (because of my research) I got a pretty good deal.

  10. I hate it! Very, very distracting!!!!!!!! When I get home from work all I want to do is sit back, relax and read CC NOT see ads where they are now.....Very distracting!!!

  11. Hi Julie again! I was just looking at the deck plans and realized that BC is forward on decks 4, 5, and 6 SHELTERED. But BD is forward on decks 8, 11, and 12 NON-SHELTERED.

One consideration with regards to that is whether you are prone to motion sickness. Typically (if you are prone), you could feel more motion on forward/aft and higher decks.

  12. Barbara, your answer was very very helpful. It help me understand the differences much better than the pictures or descriptions on cunard.com.

We sail 24 June from Southampton for New York.

    Julie

    Glad I could help Julie!

    Have a great cruise!!

  13. We originally booked a BD room for QMII. Recently we were advised that we had been "upgraded" to a BC room. Is this really an upgrade? We continue to be on starboard - no question port would have been our first choice.

Do any of you have experience on QM II? How sheltered are the BD rooms vs non-sheltered BC rooms? We are trying to decide if we should insist on being returned to deck 6 vs deck 4.

Obviously, our cruising experience is NIL .... advice, ideas to consider? Please no snarky comments ... Thanks,

    Julie and her sister!

We have had a sheltered balcony on QM2 and that means that when you step out onto the balcony, it has metal rather than glass enclosure around the "window". If you are sitting, you cannot see the ocean. If you want to see the ocean you must stand up. We've had a BC balcony, or glass fronted balcony before as well. We liked both of them, but obviously a glass fronted is better to us as you can enjoy the views better.

The sheltered balconies are good if the weather is going to be windy, cold, etc. Where is your cruise going and when?

Pepper has good photos of QM2 cabins at the following link.

    QM2 - QE - QV - QE2 - interiors. QM2 cabin photos & ship tour. Crossings & Cruises - photographs here . .

    Just click on QM2 cabins.
