  1. Thanks for your quick reply. I did try to enter the two additional sailings on the b2b2b cruises we have coming up but the app only shows the first segment. Very frustrating and disappointing. I had hoped that the new app would work better than the old one but that doesn't seem to be the case. At this point, I certainly wouldn't call it new and improved. Unfortunately, as soon as my husband uploaded the new app, he got rid of the old one 😞 . At least our dining arrangements for the first cruise did transfer over to the new app, so that's a blessing. Hopefully by the time we cruise in March, the new app will work better. Thanks again for answering and I will follow with the Princess New App thread for more information and updates.
  2. Can anyone explain how to find all of our currently booked cruises on the new app. I have just downloaded the new app and can only see one of our upcoming cruises listed. I've tried all the various headings but only see the first of three b2b cruises in my profile. I notice that there is a small symbol under and to the right of the cruise ship under the heading My Voyages. I thought perhaps tapping this symbol would bring up our other cruises but it does not. If anyone could share their expertise on this question, the help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. For the Orkneys, get in touch with Lorna Brown from See Orkney Tours. seeorkneyweb@gmail.com You won't be disappointed. Barb
  4. On our first trip to Sydney a few years ago we hailed a taxi right outside the airport and despite all the messages I had read on CC re fares into Sydney and to ask the driver to take the tunnel, he told us that the tunnel was backed up with traffic and we had to use the local roads. We crawled along and once we got to our hotel, found that the taxi ride was costing us double what was suggested on CC. I think the taxi driver took us on road level streets rather than the tunnel on purpose as we didn't know the city at all and we ended up paying way more than we thought the ride was going to be. This was on a Sunday too and not sure why the tunnel would have been packed with traffic. A lot of us who are visiting a new city for the first time and don't know any better seem to be at the mercy of taxi drivers. Barb
  5. For the Orkney Islands, contact Lorna Brown from See Orkney Tours. We have toured with her twice and she gives a fantastic all day tour to the major attractions. seeorkneyweb@gmail.com
  6. When my husband and I did our first cruise to Hawaii, with 9 sea days, we enjoyed the cruise but not the number of sea days. Now, many years later, we are looking forward to relaxing on all the sea days that we will encounter on our trans-pacific, resting our bones and bodies from all the touring coming up on our around Australia cruise. Being that the trans-pacific ends in San Francisco, we felt that this was a no brainer as our son, DIL and grands live there and we'll spend a week with them before continuing on to Toronto. We're hoping for a positive experience. Good luck with your search for airfares.
  7. As you are retired and have no time constraints, would you consider flying one way and cruising back. There are cruises from Australia which end in San Francisco or you could continue on up to Vancouver before flying on to Ottawa.
  8. Usually we're only staying there one night pre cruise and so I carry my valuables with me. Just a tip - if you are staying at the Premier Inn West Quay and are going on a cruise, don't wait until the morning of the cruise to book your taxi. There is a courtesy phone for calling a cab but do it the night before and give them a time to pick you up the following morning. If the port is busy with three or four ships in, then the cabs will be few and far between if you haven't booked one.
  9. The Premier Inn West Quay in Southampton, where we recently stayed, had both AC and a hair dryer. The outside of the building was shrouded in material as they are working on the building but we never heard any noise when we were there (a couple of different dates in Aug.) We had a standard room and had no issues.
  10. That is very kind of you to pass along her information. And it's too bad that we're not on the same cruise, it would have been nice to meet you in person. Perhaps someday... Barb
  11. Thank you so much, I'll do that. Barb
  12. Thanks so much for your reply and the pictures. My husband is a bit concerned about the taxi issue and not being able to get back to the ship on time for all aboard if a taxi doesn't come back for us. We'll have to ponder a while on this one. Barb
  13. I've posted this on our roll call as well in hopes of getting some responses. We are thinking of getting a day pass at the Hilton resort on Moorea and was wondering if anyone has done this before and how the resort was. Was the beach nice? We know we'll have to take a taxi to the resort from where the tender dock is but we'd like to know how far away it is and are taxis readily available? TIA Barb
  14. There is no guarantee that Princess will get you to the ship if you are delayed for any reason. They will "help" you get to the ship or next port but they do not guarantee this. Barb
  15. Not sure if that is true. We recently went on a cruise with a young lady from London and she had arranged to leave her car behind the Premier Inn while on a 12 day cruise. Check with the Inn to see if they will let you keep your car in their lot. Barb
  16. Hello to both John Bull and Colin, Adding my two cents worth to the discussion. A couple of weeks ago we had trouble getting a cab due to the number of cruise ships that were in port that day. We phoned the morning of the cruise to secure a cab and was told it would be a two hour wait so we decided to walk from the Premier Inn all the way to the Queen Elizabeth Terminal. It was quite the hike with our luggage. For our last cruise just over two weeks ago we phoned for a taxi the night before and it arrived on schedule and we were at the Ocean Terminal in no time. So I would suggest prebooking a cab to ensure that you get to the terminal in time to board and with less stress. We also took the opportunity while in Southampton to visit the small but nicely done Maritime Museum. Smooth sailing, Barb
  17. Sounds like fun. Thanks for the info. Barb
  18. Don't forget about the time difference when booking your flights to Australia. Whatever day of the week you leave the US, you get to Australia two calendar days later. So make sure you have a day or two to recover from the jet lag.
  19. It was a very small amount but good to know all the parameters.
  20. We ran into the same problem on our last trip to the UK. Fortunately we were with friends who live there and we were able to deposit the old bank notes into her account and then she withdrew the money to give to us. So, you have to be an account holder to exchange the old for new notes. Other than that, you need to go to the Bank of England in London and you can get new notes for your old ones. It certainly is not being made easy to get rid of the older bank notes. Barb

  22. Heard yesterday that Portland is being taken off itineraries as there is some unrest there at the moment involving refugees and Princess has deemed that stop too risky. Heard this second hand so please confirm with your cruise line whether it is fact or fiction.
  23. Unfortunately, you are correct. There's always a lot of talk about time running out to make changes to save our planet but very little gets accomplished. I worry for the generations to come 😞
