  1. Can someone currently sailing confirm what hours it is open, on port days and sea days? Someone on FB said in passing that it's not open for lunch, which would be a big disappointment for us. Also, if it is open for lunch, how about embarkation day? Thanks in advance for helping with our meal planning for our upcoming cruise!
  2. For us or the ducks? On a more serious note (I think), I'll be sailing on Sun Princess in June with my 9 year old granddaughter, I think we'll give this a try. Sounds like fn and I bet she will love it. The cruise ducks are readily available on Amazon and I'm sure other places.
  3. Can one of you lucky Sun cruisers please most the MDR menu for at least one dinner? I saw a copy of the suite menu, which looked lovely but most of us are not in suites (or Reserve mini suites, for that matter.) Are the Always Available choices still there? Also, I saw a post with the American Diner menu on Deck 8. Is this their every day menu (I saw it doesn't change) or only occasionally? We're working on planning our meals for our June cruise and could use the input. Thanks in advance.
  4. I just looked at the Deck 8 American Diner menu, which apparently doesn't change all cruise. Yikes. I might enjoy that style of food occasionally, but not on a regular basis. Is Deck 8 the one that is only walk up? We were thinking of going that route, but not if we're faced with American diner food on a regular basis.
  5. Absolutely true, but this is a good spot for those who just want to post a few pictures/videos. Thank you for starting it. Hopefully it will be more user friendly than that terribly long Sun Princess thread lumping all issues into one.
  6. I was interested in Spellbound, but probably not for &149/pp and 4 of us sailing (one 9 years old.) Also, does this mean the regular afternoon tea is no more, you have to pay $30 for the upgraded one?
  7. Are those separate wristbands, or the disc you can buy to attach to an Apple Watch? I also have been looking on Amazon!
  8. Just go to Amazon and type Princess Medallion Accessories in the search bar. Apparently AirTag accessories will also work but I don't have any personal knowledge of that (although I will check it out too.)
  9. Amazon sells a selection of accessories to hold the medallions, at a very reasonable cost. There is a choice of wristbands making it look similar to a watch ---- reminiscent of Disney's MagicBands, for the Disney fans out there. They also sell several versions of clips, a necklace, and a few other choices I don't remember at the moment. Much cheaper than the Princess jewelry and more durable for days spent swimming, sightseeing, etc.
  10. I also hadn't thought of this but Cholula is absolutely my hot sauce of choice. It would be easy enough to bring along a small bottle in my luggage ---- think I may do this. Cruise Critic always has the best ideas!
  11. Princess has had a couple items on the menu in the main dining rooms that you can order for an additional charge, such as a steak. The 18% is probably added to that, as well as drinks for those passengers not on a package.
  12. Should we plan to tip the delivery person in cash, like we do for room service ? For drinks, where a tip is included? How about food items with no additional charge? And if so, about how much? I have sailed Princess before but OceanNow is all new to me.
  13. But the Plus and Premier packages only cover the fixed price menu , correct? Or can you order 1 app, 1 entree and one dessert from anywhere on the menu? I'll be on Sun Princess in June and am trying to figure all this out!
  14. My family and I will be in Taormina off the Sun Princess in June. I have read the other thread about DIY Taormina, which indicates that taxis will be plentiful at the pier in Messina but may be problematic for our return. Can anyone recommend a private car service or taxi service we could book with in advance ? . We specifically want to coordinate with a private tour in Taormina that sounds exciting but does not include transportation. Or is this a crazy idea? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions or input on this projected plan of ours!
  15. Interesting. I'll be on the Sun Princess in June, and assumed the 3 levels referred to style of dress. I'm not sure how the service could be more or less formal, unless they bring out all the courses at once on the least formal part. Looking forward to the first reviews from Sun Princess when she sets sail next month, that will answer a lot of our questions. Some of my traveling party generally enjoy staying casual on vacation evenings, so I have been thinking this new plan might be perfect for them. I used to enjoy dressing up but the world has changed so much, I'm pretty much over it.
  16. We cruised the British Isles with Princess a few years back, and were delighted with the local entertainment they brought onto the ship. There were late afternoon on ship shows before sailing, there were local performers on the dock, and one night a young Irish tenor came onboard for 2 evening production shows then left the ship at the next port. This year, we'll be on Sun Princess, Athens to Barcelona. Can we expect anything similar? We have previously done a Med cruise on NCL and there was none of that, you could have been sailing anywhere (still a lovely cruise, however.)
  17. I'll be traveling with family who are sailing in a separate cabin. How do we link our booking numbers so we can reserve dining together?
  18. I am also considering Avalon as a single, they seem to encourage solo travelers so that seems a good omen, I know there was a small number of passengers on your trip, so it may not be a good indicator, but did you get much sense of how they handle singles? Is dinner all at the same time or flexible arrival? Do they have some larger tables for socializing and meeting other travelers? I enjoy my time alone but also want a chance to spend time with others. Thanks for any input.
  19. Has anyone on these boards tried the beach barbecue at Coconuts? Sounds like a nice alternative on a warm summer night........
