You mean the one where you walk all the way over to the pavilion on the right, then all the way back to the harbor area on the left just to try to board 36 people on a 24-passenger ferry? Yeah, I've seen that done better, But I will fight you over best guide...Smoothie was da' bomb. He said he trained the other two, though 😉

You can shear a sheep many times but you can skin him only once. The butler thing feels more like the latter. Trout

That is very interesting. As someone else mentioned, it looks like a lot of the recent pricing changes are aimed at Retreat guests. For example, today a January '24 Nieuw Statendam Corner Aft Neptune suite is ~7.5K / couple / week...almost exactly what it would have been if you had booked that week a year ago. However, last January if you booked a Signature Suite on Ascent for January '24 it was 8K / couple / week. Now that week will cost you 12K / couple / week. Thanks for the data, Trout

Ascent 7 day SS in Jan 23 is 50% more than when we booked, now 12K / week. Insanity. Trout

I think you and I will be able to review the list in person in January. Trout

Not meaning to beat a dead horse, but after being on hold for 30 minutes, couldn't help but notice the "hold music" still says dedicated butler for the Retreat...not team of butlers, not butlers for upper suites...enjoy your dedicated butler when booking the Retreat. And, since I got disconnected midway through trying to change my dining and excursions, I am now getting to hear it again! Trout

Love this idea...how about a sticky of 2024 "Changes" (I used changes instead of cuts because Celebrity keeps trying to convince me they are for my benefit)

NOW I have a problem with the new Suite policies
trout62 replied to sixpackeddie's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I am in the same boat, so to speak. The irony is if X would allow me to cancel, the cabin I currently have reserved (SS on an early Ascent sailing) would quickly be re-sold for 50% more than what I booked it at. And I would cancel if I could do so for free, but not for the reasons most cite. I am one cruise away from 4* on HAL, always in suites, and am not unhappy with HAL...just looking for a better cruise line for me. In January when I booked, X was clearly superior for the minimal price difference vs. HAL. The almost monthly rug pulls are a gut punch, to be sure. But to kick me AND raise prices? Pass. I can't afford to fall in love with X. Trout -
Is Celebrity going to Eliminate Butlers on Sky and Celebrity Suites?

...and the wine policy. -
Call me a nit, but if you advertise... On the Resort Deck, you’ll find one of the most popular spots on every Celebrity ship—the adults-only Solarium. Celebrity Edge continues the tradition of offering a covered pool area where adults can unwind in luxurious style. Here, we turned again to Tom Wright for the design, and he used the ocean itself as his inspiration. ...then it kind of seems like it should be adults only. Trout

question about bringing 2 bottles of wine per person aboard
trout62 replied to l_n_kelly's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I don’t think that is being debated. The question is about the wording of the document referenced above versus the one I posted from the Celebrity web sight. I contend the website is clearer. But thank you for your insightful reply. Trout -
OK, I have to tell this story. As I mentioned, my first cruise was on NCL Southward in June 1986. One of the ports was Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. At that port, for my excursion, I signed up to play a round of golf. Well, while waiting at my designated spot for the others who had signed up for this excursion, the cruise director came down to inform me that nobody else had signed up for that excursion. Figuring that meant the round of golf was canceled, I was a little bummed. That is until the cruise director asked "would you mind if a few of us join you?" The "few" was the cruise director, the band leader, the nightclub comic and (I am not making this up) the captain. I can't remember what course we played, but it was the first and only time I have had a real caddy carry the clubs, and it was by far the most fun I have had playing a round of golf. I even picked up a few Norwegian swear words. The next day, because we were in a suite, we were invited to the Captain's Quarters for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. I felt a little guilty because, although there were a number of guests present, the captain spent most of his time talking to me about golf. True story. Trout

question about bringing 2 bottles of wine per person aboard
trout62 replied to l_n_kelly's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It looks like the website is more explicit. I don’t see where the above says you have to be over 21 to be the one to carry it on board, but my old man eyes may be missing it in that small print. Trout -
question about bringing 2 bottles of wine per person aboard
trout62 replied to l_n_kelly's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I think this may be the pertinent part of the policy: “Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard; with the exception of embarkation day when each guest (of legal drinking age) is permitted to bring onboard up to two (2) 750 ml bottles of wine (which are subject to a corkage fee) per guest. A corkage fee does not apply to guests with the Classic Beverage Package or Premium Beverage Package. “ Though in practice, when you run your carry on bags through the scanner, the individual reading the scan will likely not know your daughter’s age. Nonetheless, it is against the rules. Trout
