  1. This is a very helpful post. We, too, are staying at the Auberge before our cruise this summer.
  2. Curious what the best restaurants are in Vancouver for dinner the night before our cruise in July. Not looking for fine dining, but something fun and locally popular, that shows some of the vibe of the city. Perhaps a pub or bistro?
  3. I just changed my room from an ultra deluxe veranda on the Millennium to a sky suite guarantee two days ago, after I'd already made final payment, and it was fine. There were no penalties. They didn't consider it rebooking, it was just an upgrade. I paid the price difference of the new cabin compared to my old one, and that was it. We sail on July 7. I had originally booked online and I simply called and spoke to a customer service rep at Celebrity to make the change. I received the current OBC promotions for the new cabin. I had changed my cabin previously, before final payment, and I lost $50 in OBC that was part of the deal when I'd booked that cabin, that wasn't offered when I changed cabins. So there is a chance you could lose some OBC if there is a special deal that was offered at one point and isn't being offered again. But that had nothing to do with my change two days ago. All of my previous OBC carried over and I received another $650 in promotional OBC for the sky suite and a spring deal they were offering.
  4. it's very odd that they do not have a rubber lip for the roll-in shower. I am used to accessible showers. we have an accessible bathroom in our home because I was a caregiver for my mom and she needed it. it's very simple to keep the water from flooding the bathroom if the shower is properly designed. Fail for Celebrity.
  5. I just received a MoveUp email offering new prices and reflecting the fact that I'm booked for a Sky Suite at this point. I'm going to have to make a few offers. Quite tempting! The only rooms that even show availability on the sites that show all of the open cabins are one penthouse suite and one aqua suite. So I doubt there will be much of an opportunity for MoveUps. Still, it's always fun to give it a go.
  6. The supervisor said that he was making a special exception to honor my husband's service. He was very gracious about it and did it in a flash. I was very appreciative. I told my husband about it afterward and he was appreciative, too. As a new cruiser to Celebrity, I didn't know that we could get the discount, and I told that to the supervisor.
  7. There are six sky suites left on my upcoming Millennium sailing to Alaska. The cruise is in 74 days. Each of the sky suites are wheelchair accessible cabins. Yet, Celebrity is now selling these suites to guests who don't ask for accessible rooms. Why are they doing this? Is this standard as the sail date draws near? I booked a suite guarantee yesterday and I'm fine with being placed in an accessible sky suite, particularly since I knew that was all that's left. But I'm surprised they're already selling them to guests without waiting longer to see if guests in wheelchairs need them. I know they're doing this because I did a mock booking and didn't click on the box saying I wanted a wheelchair accessible room and yet those six cabins were the ones that showed up and were allowing me to book them. Screenshots here:
  8. I've used outhouses. Actual outhouses that are holes in the ground. I win.
  9. ah, okay. I know my husband's brother has a DD214 and he was army national guard and didn't get called up to active duty. but he went through basic training and spent time doing a stint for the army overseas on a short "project" of some sort during one of his summer two-week stints. Edited to say since I've never been in the military I clearly don't know what active duty means.
  10. Here are the MoveUp prices I was sent today from Celebrity. The top one is a Royal Suite at $1,500 pp and the bottom one is a Sky Suite at $700 pp minimum bid. I was in an Ultra Deluxe Veranda Suite when they sent these. I've sent changed my cabin on my own. Just wanted to share the current minimum offers on Millennium for an Alaskan cruise in July.
  11. My husband took his DD214 into the DMV and had his veteran status added to his ID when he renewed his driver's license and got a Real ID. People in the reserves also get DD214's. You should be able to get one.
  12. Okay, that's what I thought. So if I had won the MoveUp with the minimum, I would have just had the cabin, with no perks like drink, wifi or tips. Yup, I feel like a winner today. And I have the extra $200 off. I'm looking forward to the cruise. I am well aware that I will likely fall in love with the suite life and never want to go lower. But I'm also too cheap to pay high prices for suites. So it's a quandary. Not gonna worry about it, tho. Just gonna enjoy.
  13. I'll go with a combo of both. I am never rude on the phone, but I do explain what I want and ask for it in clear terms and why I think it's a fair thing to provide it. Good point about the restaurants!
  14. Interesting - received a MoveUp email a few hours ago and Celebrity based it on the Ultra Deluxe Veranda that I was in until yesterday. I've attached the screenshot below. The top one, with the name cut off, is the Royal Suite, at $1,500 pp minimum bid, and the bottom one is the Sky Suite at $700 pp minimum bid. I paid $1,940 more to get the suite guarantee yesterday, so $540 higher than the minimum MoveUp bid and I get all of the goodies such as Premium Drinks, Premium Wi-Fi and gratuities that come with doing it that way and not as a MoveUp. (I think those aren't included in MoveUp bids, at least.)
  15. I just called and the first person on the phone said I would have had to do it at the time of booking and before final payment and she wouldn't give me the discount, but I asked to speak to a supervisor and when he came onto the line, he was super helpful and gave me a $200 discount credited back to my credit card. He said my husband will just need to show proof of his military service when we check in at the pier.
  16. I didn't know this discount existed when I booked. Should I call and mention it now?
  17. My husband is an Air Force veteran. He didn't retire from the military, but he was in for seven years with an honorable discharge. Is he eligible for any military or veterans discount on Celebrity? We have an upcoming cruise in July and I've read this about Celebrity and I'm not sure how it's applied or how to get it if he is eligible. (His Real ID shows his veteran status.) Celebrity Cruises offers military members special savings. Savings are per person, for first and second guest, and are based on type of stateroom: $25 – Inside and Ocean View $100 – Veranda, Concierge Class, AquaClass® or The Retreat At least one guest in the stateroom must be an active, retired or veteran member of the United States military. A valid military ID must be presented at the pier to validate eligibility.
  18. Wow. The exact opposite of my recent spring break cruise on Harmony of the Seas with thousands of screaming kids. 🤣
  19. I love both vases! So gorgeous. Now I want to be on a cruise with one of these classes.
  20. I appreciate your advice about making sure my booking documentation reflected the Wi-Fi, gratuities and premium drink package. I looked at it a second time yesterday afternoon and realized it did not. I was only getting the OBC, so I called Celebrity, and the customer service rep said oh, you have basic Wi-Fi for one person and the basic drink package for one person but it's just not on your booking doc yet. I explained how it was the premium version of each, and for two people. She asked where I was seeing that. I told her it was on the website for a suite guarantee booking at that very moment. I sat on hold for ten minutes, she came back, and said she'd put them on my booking and was sending a new booking confirmation. She said, "normally you wouldn't see them until you're assigned a cabin, but I'll go ahead and add them for you now." Since she'd said three completely incorrect things during our conversation, I didn't comment or question, just let her go on with it and send the new booking. I looked at it before we hung up and the new booking docs show the premium drink package for both of us, the premium Wi-Fi for both of us, gratuities and all of the OBC is still there (I made sure!) So, thank you! While it's possible I could have resolved later, it's also possible that it wouldn't have happened. Always better to fix it ASAP.
