  1. That's because many folks are spending prior to the actual sailing. Drink packages, meal plans, excursions, etc. If anything, I would expect future ships to offer more revenue generating opportunities in addition to the expanded offerings. More specialties, more bars, more stores. Make the ship a destination as much as the ports are.
  2. I read it as using a proctored/supervised test will meet the requirements. You cannot use a home self test kit on it's own.
  3. lol, no problems here. Maybe you're reading too much into it. Often, since tone cannot be completely determined from written communications, the reader will inflect their own personal tone. I also didn't say you're not entitled to your opinion. You absolutely are just as I am entitled to mine. I already said, I have seen problems from staffing issues and I agree they do exist. It still doesn't change the fact that those types of problems weren't part of the original complaint. If I read reviews that a restaurant has a 2 hour wait for seating and the food is subpar and I still go expecting to be seated immediately with a five star meal and it doesn't happen, is that on the restaurant or is it on me? In my opinion, both parties have to share the responsibility. Rah Rah Team! 😀📣
  4. Thanks Biker. I was just going off of the 6000/6500 number. I wasn't sure what the ship's capacity was. Either way, cruising numbers are returning to pre-pandemic levels and some of the OP's complaints are reflective of conditions that existed prior to the pandemic as well. Please show me in the original post where they criticize Royal for staffing issues. I have seen the problems from a lack of proper staffing as well as a lack of resources. I'm not denying there are real issues caused on board but those problems aren't even mentioned. I don't remember the last time I could sail so inexpensively either so I am okay with cutting them some slack right now. Honestly, if you're a member of this online community you have had the opportunity to read reviews and postings regarding current sailing shortfalls just like you said. If someone still decides to book a cruise and expect something different, that's on them. It's probably going to take awhile for many of the lines to return to normal so I would suggest waiting until reports indicate conditions have improved. Go Team!😁
  5. Trying to break this down in my mind. 1 - The ship is at roughly 90% capacity. Many have been sailing over 100%. 2 - Rude and I mean rude passengers. Just curious as to the difference between rude and I mean rude. Rude people are not just limited to cruise ships by the way. 3 - People are cramming into elevators. Sounds like a normal cruise experience. 4 - Intoxicated passengers in the dining room. Are they limited to the dining room or can they wander about the rest of the ship? Do you prefer them to be intoxicated in a specific location? 5 - No seats on a sea day. Hmmm, see #3 6 - Overcrowded casino. Did someone sit down at the machine you wanted to play? Again, see #3. 7 - People from the US are a minority on the ship. Wow, just wow. Saved this one for last and it actually didn't even feel right typing it out. Can you please go into specific detail as to why this is a bad thing? Am I to understand that you believe the ships should specifically cater to only US citizens? You don't have a problem sailing to foreign ports of call where, gasp, US citizens are the minority, as long as you can return to the sanctity of a US only ship? You do realize you were sailing on Royal Caribbean International don't you. Honestly, I'm just shaking my head at this one. WTG Royal for allowing everyone back and not limiting your capacity to whatever number this poster thinks it should be. How dare you resume normal sailing numbers in order to survive the massive amount of debt you had to take on during the shut down. Not trying to be a Royal Caribbean cheerleader here. Just giving my opinion. (Because there is a difference between truth and opinion).
  6. I'm one of the odd ducks that love them too. Been able to get them on every cruise since the restart so far.
  7. As Biker said, you need an internet package. Wifi texting is also dependent on your provider and/or your messaging app. I was able to do it using Verizon and their message+ app. It would not work over standard sms.
  8. I hope you enjoy it. We are staying in Trastevere at a VRBO for a few days before our cruise so we plan to try it one of the nights. We also just booked a local food tour that starts out near our apartment. I'm beyond ready to start this trip.
  9. Thanks for the info and link. Booked it for when we are going in November. We're actually staying right in Trastevere for a few days before the cruise so it works out great.
  10. We will be there at the beginning of November. I have a friend who flew international for Delta for many years and he recommended the Old Bear in Rome. He said it was one of his top 5 favorite restaurants. Looking forward to trying it when we get there. Old Bear
  11. The last few cruises we've done, they were on our door. We just gave our room number when ordering drinks at the bar.
  12. Sitting in committee along with 507 other bills. I'm just a bill, yes I'm only a bill, and I'm sitting here on capital hill. Cruising for Alaska's Workforce Act
  13. I always looked forward to the warm rice pudding. Sadly, I haven't seen it back in years.
  14. We sail Feb 2024 and ours is updated with the same room. Aft balcony.
  15. Well I thought I did. I swear last night when I looked it had already been changed over. Just looked now and all I have is a cancelled sailing. Guess I'll see when it comes back if we get moved.
  16. We must be in the minority but we have the exact same room on Adventure as we had on Voyager. It's not until Feb of 24 so don't know if that made a difference. We have an aft balcony on deck 9. Voyager didn't show it as an obstructed view but Adventure does. Has anyone had one of these on Adventure and how was your view. We are in 9692.
  17. Yes, we got one at the end of January. They didn't have any the first couple of days but dug them out of storage when they re-stocked on the 3rd or 4th day.
  18. Ours have been anywhere from a day to a week and a half. It's nothing to get too excited about though as you are still required to show it on boarding day.
  19. I would agree that the 5 day is very similar to the 7 day. We've always taken friends that are new cruisers on a 5 day as it seems to allow them to experience cruising on a shorter trip that offers a fuller experience. If they don't like it, it's only 5 days, if they like it, the are ready for a longer trip. It's never come across as a booze cruise experience to us. We've enjoyed doing them, but really do prefer a longer cruise because it's a long drive/flight from Michigan.
  20. Yes, you are responsible for the port fees and taxes. You're not limited to the interior only cabin either. (if that's what you have) If you would prefer a different category, you can upgrade if you would like for an additional fee. I would recommend calling them with any questions you might have. I received my first offer this past year for the free room and the CSR I spoke with was very helpful. They can let you know what your cost will be for the sailing you select.
  21. We sailed late August/early September last year and while it was raining most of the time, the seas and temperatures weren't bad at all. Friends went 2 weeks later and said they wouldn't cruise that late in the season again. Bad weather with high winds and rough seas was their experience.
  22. I was supposed to fly 3 times last year. 1 cancelled, 1 slight delay and 1 on time. SWA, DAL and DAL. SWA cancelled my flight about 3 hours before I had to leave to drive to the airport. No alternatives offered to get me to my destination because they had none for 3 days. On our last flight we sat in the terminal (FFL) by folks who were still trying to get out from their cancelled flight the day before.
