  1. I, also, don't see anything wrong with trying to offer selections for "simple eats types." I do react to generalizations such as "maybe someone should tell Virgin that people don't want curry chicken and other weird food while at a beach club." If this person wrote: "I, personally, don't want curry chicken and other weird food" I wouldn't have commented.
  2. i agree with this statement.
  3. I sailed on Beyond in October and had zero noise. I suspect the problem is overstated.
  4. I like youtube cruise videos. They were super helpful when planning a Virgin Voyages cruise, because I didn't know anything about the cruise line. If you don't want to be in video or pictures, I suggest you stay home because cameras are everywhere nowadays. I think back to traveling in my past and packing cameras, film, camcorders, tapes, etc... What a hassle. Today, virtually everyone has a sophisticated camera and video recorder in their pockets. They're everywhere and if you want to be unseen, you better not go out.
  5. You're traveling the world. You're not in Kansas anymore.
  6. You make good points but you lose me when you over generalize what "most people" want. There are "some" people like yourself who want burgers and fries but there are others who want something different.I think the intent is to serve foods they can prep and cook on the ship and still serve warm at the beach club. Burgers and fries require cooking on shore which have logistical issues. Personally, I wasnt crazy about the food choices at Bimini, and I think they could do better. Speaking only for myself, Im not sure burgers and fries would have been better.
  7. I think this will be reality soon enough. Those red flags on the table seem to be a temporary fix.
  8. I like Razzle Dazzle. I had a muffin, plain scrambled eggs, hash browned potatos and amazing bacon. And a Bloody Mary. Can't forget the Bloody Mary.
  9. Wow. That's generous. In the old days on other cruise lines, you'd get a $50 OBC or something similar
  10. I found the poolside Scarlet night dance party to be the best part of our Scarlet Lady cruise last week. Because I watched youtube videos ahead of time, and knew what to expect, my wife and I, and the other couple we were with (we're in our 60's) headed up to the pool area before it started. We sat at the edge of the pool as the crowds filled in. We got up to dance when the music got lively. We stood around the pool as 30 dancers and performers circled the pool and got closer to the water. We got up on the pool edge when the dancers moved into the pool and splashed everyone (including us.) We danced more when guests filled the pool. We enjoyed the dance music, lights, and the vibe. I felt 30 years younger, and it was a fun club-like atmosphere. I'm glad I participated. Even if I were unable to dance, I probably would have enjoyed being up close and in the middle of the action. It was a party in my brain. Afterwards, we got drinks then late night desserts in the Galley and bed by 2am.
  11. I read through this entire thread and I don't think Vloggers, Youtubers, Instagrammers, Promoters, Photographers, Kodak Camerapeople, etc are legitimate concerns of the OP. It's not like you'll be on a 24 foot sailboat with a documentarian with no escape. There are many places you can go if anyone onboard is annoying and I assure you, on a cruise, there will be people who annoy you, just as you will likely annoy someone else. . It surprises me how many responders take this concern seriously. I think this thread is here to stir the sh*t. The goal was achieved.
  12. Maybe they don't want to notice you either. lol
  13. I was on the cruise before yours and I didn't experience any of the app issues you are encountering. I mostly used the app for dining, shows requiring reservations, and music locations/times, The app seemed accurate for us and I didn't notice any scheduling changes. Perhaps there's someone new handling scheduling this week .
  14. I'm still trying to process if this is a cruise line I want to return to, or was it One and done... With other cruise lines, I felt like they provided the space and it was up to me to bring the party. With Virgin, I feel like they bring the party. My question for myself is "Do I want to go to that party again or find a new party?" It was like 4 days of an interactive dinner theater and I'm asking myself: Do I really want to see the same show again?" I'm not sure the answer the day after my return.
  15. Ive read other threads
  16. We had a lot of fun. Stayed up a lot later for 4 nights than we typically do. We went to the pajama party on embarkation night and had fun and danced at the Scarlet night party . We had some great brunches. Went to the Diva show, Ships in the Night, and Duel Reality and enjoyed those. The music on board was excellent. We used $395 of our $400 bar credit (so you get a good idea we were having "fun." My wife got a massage and enjoyed it a lot. We went to an outdoor bar in Key West and had conch fritters, key lime pie, and drinks while listening to music. We had a relaxing beach day in Bimini. All in all, a great trip. Just what we needed. Wish I wasn't at work today.
  17. You'll wait till 1-130 to board. You can drop your luggage at the pier and take a free shuttle to Bayside to kill time.
  18. Having sailed Carnival, NCL, Celebrity, and now Virgin V. I now have an informed opinion of the dining comparisons I've read and want to express mine. I agree with many reviewers who have said Virgin offers the best all-included overall dining experience and the best all-included food of main-stream cruise lines. (and that includes Blu and Luminae on Celebrity) but I say this with a few caveats... While the all-inclusive specialty restaurants we went to (Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Wake) were very good, the food and service were not as good as the Specialty restaurants on board other cruise lines I've experienced. Now, you're going to say: "That's not a fair comparison! You had to pay for Specialty Restaurants on other cruiselines and they were included on Virgin." And I'm going to reply: "That's true! I did pay for specialty restaurants on board other cruises, but the problem in my opinion, is Virgin didn't offer me an OPTION to pay for better food and better service. I would have spent the money." For those on a budget or those who don't want to spend more, the dining options are excellent. One can eat very well on board Virgin (if you can snag a reservation on a sold out ship). The reservation experience leading up to the cruise is frustrating when it's difficult to book restaurants if you missed the first day or two in the booking window. I was fortunate to have priority boarding, and I made it a point to rearrange all our dining immediately when I got on board. Others I spoke to, who had boarding times after 2:30, were not as fortunate. I did not feel the Galley was as good as a Celebrity Buffet. The breakfast food was better in the Galley, but the wait for food was not good. One goes to a buffet/galley for quick dining, and to wait 30 minutes, two days in a row for poached eggs, isn't good. I know a lot of people like the Galley better. To each his/her/pickapronoun own. I believe the Galley saves VV a lot of money on food vs a traditional buffet and VV can allocated those resources to other venues, but I felt the options for lunch, dinner and late night to be limited. My last two Celebrity cruises had excellent buffet options. I think the Galley options would have been awesome for late night bites after 11pm. I definitely would have had tacos, ramen, or sushi at midnight, but the only choices after shows which ended at 11 were burgers or breakfast. I also wish the Social Club was open later. I would have wanted late night wings or a hot dog but it also closed at 11 and that was too close to our 8pm dinners to be hungry. I didn't have the opportunity to experience SC. I didn't have room service because I didn't want to wait an hour. The one night I wanted to order breakfast in advance, I couldn't. Apparently one can't order breakfast ahead the night before debarkation morning. Pizza. Nom. I enjoyed it. My wife didn't like the crust. There ya go. That's my opinion.

    GPS on SL?

Problem solved. On an open deck I get GPS and maps work. Inside the ship it doesn’t work.
  20. It’s decent We’re at sea near Miami. I have 5.5 Mbps download and 24 Mbps upload currently.
  21. I’m on Scarlet Lady now. Why doesn’t GPS work to show us on Google or Apple Maps where we are at sea? Is it blocked by the VV app? It works on land.
  22. Here’s the bottomless menu at The Wake. Sparkling wine not the same as Champagne but a good brunch substitute if you’re not a connoisseur.
