  1. I've stayed on deck 2 on V/F class ships. What would you like to know?
  2. Anything can go wrong with any flight at any time. Just like the time JetBlue cancelled my 2 PM flight home at 1:30 PM. I should have booked a 10 AM flight.
  3. That is one of the major issues, in my mind, with O class ships. They are very weather and tech dependent. It is great when everything works out but it is not rare for things to not go as planned.
  4. Hopefully the eclipse will replace Covid and supply chain issues as the excuse for everything that goes wrong in the world.
  5. That is interesting. When I was on Odyssey in February my attendant asked me if I wanted AM or PM. I told him AM and the earlier the better. He was happy to have a cabin that he knew he could start with and not have to worry about people sleeping. Honestly, in your case I would have seriously considered adjusting the stewards gratuities. I don't know why the Bahamas enforces the casino and shop rules at CC. It isn't as if it has any impact on local spending like when a ship is in a regular port. Maybe RCI would have to collect and pay taxes from sales to the Bahamas.
  6. Did Oasis stay tied up at the pier overnight or did the ship float around and then dock for the second day? I've never had a cabin attendant with that type of attitude. How was he the rest of the week?
  7. I've seen people with dementia who manage pretty well at home and for some reason end up having to be hospitalized completely decompensate. Change of familiar environment is no joke for folks with dementia.
  8. Personally, I would do a 10 AM flight and would not even be stressed out about it. Yes, sometimes things go wrong but most of the time they don't. We all have our own level of risk tolerance. I would also mention that since Port Everglades instituted facial recognition walking off the ship WITH YOUR LUGGAGE and getting out of the terminal and into a cab is a breeze. If you are travelling on a non U.S. passport then pay no attention to what I just wrote.
  9. Oasis was refitted? The last time I was aboard the cabin doors still used magnetic strip technology.
  10. In fact, changing the environment of someone with dementia can really destabilize them. Taking them to a foreign country where nothing is familiar to them certainly has its risks.
  11. How do you know? Other than that the man is missing are you privy to some other facts? I appreciate the post that you question. I haven't been to Cozumel in years and I thought it seemed quite safe when I was there. I now know better and would be more vigilant should I find myself back there any time soon.
  12. Nassau seems to have a similar problem from what I've been reading. If I remember correctly, years ago St. Croix had an issue and when tourist income dropped off enough the island cleaned up its act.
  13. People seem to have the answers for a situation that happened thousands of miles away and for which they know close to zero facts.
  14. Had to turn some lights on in the office that we typically don't need during the day. Outside shadows appeared that are never seen at 3:30 in the afternoon and in no time it was all over. It must have been a very cool experience to be in the totality zone.
