  1. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Dixie, Debbie, and Ann, and Happy Birthday Pauline. No idea what the menu suggestion is, I haven't had earmuffs in years and don't have a lot of jewlery. I hope I'm smart and sexy. Great quote bu Angelou. Dunedin is a special port as it's the home port of @erewhon. I've been there twice and both times met @erewhon for lunch and a little bit of touring, In 2018 they joined me on the Crystal Symphony for lunch at the equivalent of Dive-In and in 2020 they took me to a local restaurant when Crystal Serenity visited, I slept well last night but am still a feeling a bit lazy this morning. Roy
  2. Princess finally moving? Not per AIS now on camera. Roy
  3. I was somewhat mistaken about Port Klang. It was not on the cruise I thought but an earlier cruise on Queen Victoria (Bangkok to Dubai) March 25, 2010. At the time I was doing a text blog but not posting the photos I'm not quite sure what they were exactly although these were all from Klang. From the blog: "We docked at a container port at Port Kelang (pronounced clang, and named for the clanging of chains on the ox harnesses first used in loading and unloading ships). By the time we left the ship it was hot and so humid the feeling of stepping on shore was somewhere between entering fog and stepping into a steam bath. Our guide Julie Chang met us for the 45 minute drive into Kuala Lampur (KL) and our 'Colorful Kuala Lampur. tour." While Malaysia is an Islamic country all religions are accepted and in our travels we visited both an Anglican Cathedral and what I think was a Buddhist shrine, as well as a few views of the city: Roy
  4. I'm no expert on the science and I think I can live with changing the clocks twice a year or not. What I do know is that in my area many kids go to school at the crack of dawn much of the year, but are always home in daylight. An extra hour of morning darkness would have them either walking to school or standing at the bus stop in pitch darkness. For me it's either change the clock or stay on STANDARD time. Roy
  5. X was pretty much on time yesterday. Can lightning strike twice? Roy
  6. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Ann, Dixie, Debbie, Graham, and our other Dailyites. I'm definitely not a gardener, have worked with Boy Scouts but my only involvement with Girl Scouts has been buying cookies, and am not big on Genealogy. I think I've been to Klang but will check later. I'll pass on the Goulash. I love the Leigh quote. Special Bon Voyage to @Lady Hudson and hope your cruise is not impacted too much by the ship's problems. Could have been worse last night but not a good one. I went to bed an hour early but did not sleep in that hour and did not sleep past 3AM. I think I'll be quite drowsy tonight. Roy
  7. Love boat toots but I did not hear any regular toots. THanks Leann, Lou & Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy
  8. I'm pretty sure the problem was on the Cruise Critic end, not the user end. I got the same thing and it;s back to normal. Roy
  9. @Lady Hudson I second that thought about going with the flow. I think it was my first Grandeur cruise we had a lifeboat failure in Charleston and were severely delayed in reaching Port Canaveral. I had my heart set on Kennedy Space Center but it was impossible, We did dock in the terminal 1 area (I think then at one of the quonset huts) and decided to walk over to the little tower there, It was not really a destination but interesting enough that I was glad to have seen something I wouldn't normally see, @RMLincoln, I sure hope what you have is just a cold. With regard to I95 the last couple of times in Florida I've taken the auto train and really liked it. Roy
  10. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Dixie, Ann, Debbie, and fellow dailyites. I slept pretty well last night but am concerned about how things will go tonight with the time change. I was never into fanny packs, salute Johhny Appleseed, and probably have more tools than I can use now. Love the swift quote but will pass on the lasagna. Reunion is extremely isolated and only a few cruise ships stop there. Oddly, it is a frequent stop on QM2's World Cruise, both 2023 and 2024. The only HAL connection I see on cruisetimetables dot com is Bolette (former Amsterdam) going there in 2025. Roy
  11. Happy Friday. Thank you Rich, Sandy, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, Ann and the rest of our posters. Welcome @lvhh; is this your first post here? Slept well again last night and will soon be leaving on errands. I have not been to the port, not sure when I last saw a pay phone, will pass on the fish and chips, and agree that all our posters here are awesome. My middle name is my father's first name. Love the quote. Roy
  12. Happy Thursday (FRIDAY EVE). Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, Ann, and other Dailyites. I don't think I really relate to any of today's days and especially try not to panic. I was supposed to be visiting Apia on Crystal Serenity in 2018 but the Captain said they were renovating the pier and we had to pass it by. The meal sounds interesting. Had my best recent sleep last night. I'm usually up for the 4:30 news but slept until about 4:45. Wishing Pat luck with his surgery today. Roy
  13. Love in Any Language and Cold Soups. The in-person disembarkation talk where Love in Any Language was done is NOT something I miss. Roy
  14. I just talked to the Doctor. It was to be an e-visit but his internet was down and we just talked on the phone. There were actually 4 tests, and nothing much to talk about. I had exactly 1 minute of lower oxygen in the night so that was not a concern. Nothing special about my blood work or a walk I took in his office last time. There were some possible concerns from a CT scan. He could not see the image as we talked because his internet was down.but he thinks the likely plan will be a repeat CT scan in about a month. In the meantime, my feet seem to show signs of improvement I think I slept to about 4 this morning. Roy
  15. Happy Hump Day. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Ann, Debbie, Dixie, and other Dailyites. I didn't think I was that late today but see all the departments have weighed in. I hope I can pass on Be Nasty Day, salute all working women whether at home or outside. When I was working we had one person who had a very keen eye for errors and was an absolutely stellar proofreader. Great quote by Angelou. I was in St. Johns just once on a Smithsonian Studies trip way back in 1999 and was supposed to visit there on MS Zuiderdam in 2020, I completely forgot about the Rotterdam being in Port Everglades. Roy
  16. Thank you Rich,Sandi, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, Ann, and other fellow Dailyites. Peace Corps could use 2 days, a great tradition. The only cereal I have in the house is oatmeal and grits; if I get cold cereal on the road it;s usually raisin brand. I'll pass on the meal and love pork but do not make it myself, I have not been to Ulvik. I think I slept reasonably well last night, Roy
  17. Hugs to @kazu. She just posted a Bon Voyage so she is at least somewhat functional. Roy
  18. Auckland is at a place where the North Island is quite narrow, and there is a coast to coast walk laid out. I think I did the original walk in 2003 (16k) and a shortened (10k) version in 2018. The photos are from the 2018 walk: Parks along the route: The Cathedral: First glimpse of the tower: The original railway station, no longer used as such: And back home: By contrast to the above elegant station, the Northern Explorer now leaves from a hidden away container place: Roy
