  1. Thank you for the Friday report, Rich, and welcome to Port Canaveral (looks like you're on final approach). I'll pass on the Nachos, try not to babble too much, and don't really count buttons. The quote strikes me as true. I think I've been to today's port but not sure. No idea what the meal is. My alternative is Chilled Apricot Soup, Japanese Chicken Yakitori, and Blueberry Crisp, as served on MS Amsterdam October 21, 2017: Today’s care list: RIP kochleffel’s friend Fran 10/16/22 RIP StLouisCruiser friend Beverly 10/18/22 HAL4NOW testing positive on Koningsdam Cruisin single’s step son with double cancer Vict0rian’s cousin in final stages of ALS Luvteaching DH recovering from fall and facing dimentia Marshhawk’s friend Sheri Quaartzite Cruiser DH with post surgery complications From the rotation: Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney HAL Sailer Sister in Law with aggressive cancer therapy Marshhawk’s friend Jesse with throat cancer Status of St. Louis Sal (7/1) and JAM37 (7/7) Celebrations and Shoutouts: Birthday week with sister for Seasick Sailor Birthday week for SusieKIslandGirl Aliaschief off for a river cruise New apartment for Cruzin Terri DD and DSIL helping Quartzite Cruiser Another great golf score for Mister67 3 days for Oceansaway17 (Equinox 10/24 to 11/3) 2 Days for Cruisin Single (American Star 10/23 to 10/30) Cruising-Along(11/5), dfish, NextOne, Richwmn, Live4cruises, SharoninAz (Nieuw Statendam to 10/22), MissG (Oosterdam to 10/22), HAL4NOW (Koningsdam to 10/24), and AncientWanderer (Nieuw Amsterdam to 10/25), Dismomx5 (Rotterdam to 10/27) , and Av8rix (Rotterdam to 10/30) Cunnorl (Noordam to 1/2/23), and Horizon Chaser1957 (Zaandam 10/1 to 12/20; Zuiderdam 12/22 to 5/12) at sea Roy
  2. I only sailed QE2 once; it was her final transatlantic in tandem with QM2 as the torch was passed to the newer ship. I only saw one sunrise, it was October 20, 2008: Roy

  5. Thank you for the Thursday report, Rich. Three great culinary days to celebrate, today. If I were Marx, I think I would rather have a good friend than a best friend. Rich, I believe Rotterdam is actually going to Manhattan rather than Cape Liberty. There's a Celebrity ship at Liberty that day and the New York terminal guide shows Rotterdam in Manhattan rather than Brooklyn, I've never been to Taiwan (scheduled there on Amsterdam in 2017 but cancelled for political reasons) and I have no idea what the meal is. My alternative is Fruit Cup au Naturel, the turf from Surf and Turf, and Cherry Crumble Tart, as served on MS Amsterdam October 20, 2017. 8. Thank you for the Hump Day Fleet Report and Daily, Rich. Every day should be Evaluate Your Life Day. Hopefully, we should love our bodies enough to take care of them. Rain forests are a vital but disappearing resource. The Gatsby quote sounds very dark. I think most of us have been to Puerto Vallarta. I think I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Lingonberry Soup, Macadamia Crusted Chicken, and Apple Buckle, as served on MS Amsterdam October 19, 2017. 9. All I know is people on the Koningsdam were told she was no longer with the company. I would not expect them to give out any additional details. Roy
  10. A little background here. The Koningsdam is actually a combination of 2 short cruises which cannot be booked independently, but only in conjunction with a land tour that leaves the ship in Skagway and then continues overland to Denali and Anchorage. The 3-day segment to Skagway does not offer any glacier viewing form the ship, so a small boat meets the ship at the entrance to Tracy Arm and the small boat goes deep into the glaciers, getting far closer than a large ship can, and them meets the ship about dinner time in Juneau. It's a fabulous way to REALLY see the glaciers. https://morethangetaways.wordpress.com/2018/07/21/day-y4c-3-part-1-friday-july-20-entering-tracy-arm/ https://morethangetaways.wordpress.com/2018/07/22/day-y4c-3-part-2-friday-july-20-south-sawyer-glacier/ Roy

  13. @StLouisCruisers, so sorry to hear about Beverly. Prayers for you and all her family. Roy
  14. Volendam's first cruise was September 24 to October 8. You might try posting to that Roll Call. Roy
  15. Thank you for the Tuesday report, Rich. I'm not really a fan of meatloaf, and sometimes feel like I am getting information overload. I don't really have a beard although sometimes I get stubble since the hormone shots for my cancer really slow down hair growth and I'll often forget to shave. I love the Vonnegut quote. I have not been to Kirkwall. The meal sounds interesting. My alternative is Fruit Palette, Veal Cutlet, and Pineapple Crisp as served on MS Amsterdam October 18, 2017. 18. Thank you for the Monday report, Rich. I'm not into fashion but I don't think I have anything that would be considered gaudy. I've had some great bosses and at least one real stinker. I celebrated pasta day a day earlier (or on New Zealand time) but will not repeat it tonight. The Huxley quote is so true. I have not been to Timaru. No idea what the meal is. 19. I hope @cruzn single will weigh in. I'll be waiting to hear her opinion of American Cruise Lines. I've sailed their former competitor many times (Blount Small Ship Adventures featured special itineraries with creature comforts somewhere between basic and spartan, but a fantastic crew), but haven't really been motivated yet to try ACL. Roy
  20. A couple of thoughts here. I was told in cardiac rehab that if one is dehydrated the blood pressure will generally drop while the heart rate increases. I also know from experience that I do get cramps at night and they do seem to be dehydration related as they stop quickly when get a cup of water just out of the bathroom tap. I don't know if you checked your blood pressure last night, but the combination of fast heart and cramps after strenuous work does seem to be reasonably related to dehydration., @kochleffel so sorry to hear about Fran. @mamaofami that is so sad about the minister. I will take a guess since @kazu knows who he is that he also serves as a HAL chaplain. I echo the sentiment that a favorable resolution for him is just but have a sad feeling that it is unlikely. What injustice we do in the name of religion. @grapau27 I usually don't get to Father David's sermons until late in the day. It's clear that both he and my pastor follow the same lectionary and it's usually interesting to get two takes on the same reading. My pastor is currently on sabbatical and it doesn't always happen with the guest preachers. Today, however our guest did and the variation was interesting, with our preacher focusing on the power of storytelling. Two different but very valid views. Roy
  21. Unfortunately, the number of ships that can get under the bridge is decreasing rapidly, and both Zaandam and Volendam are doing a lot of long cruises. I think one Vista may have modifications that allow it but the there aren't many ships left that can do it. I feel the pain. I would love to have a BHB in Baltimore but it's very unlikely. Roy
  22. I’m guessing you left fairly recently if you miss Wegmans. I remember visiting a Wegmans in Upstate New York several years ago (it didn’t exist when I lived there) and ours here probably opened in about the last 5 years. Roy
  23. Thanks. Sorry to hear that. I hope she has a great new position. Roy
  24. Making better progress than expected. Part of it is an improvement in the weather forecast so I will stop at the grocery store after church rather than before.
