  1. Many restaurants broil the bacon, it's a more efficient way of cooking it. As you point out there is a right way and a wrong way to do it, though. I have had many breakfasts onboard- a made to order omelet, home fries, corned beef hash and fresh fruit come immediately to mind.
  2. As noted they've done this for years, but they don't do it to prevent people from taking too much (as witnessed by the fact that they will give you all that you want), they do it to keep passengers from holding up the line while they look for that "perfect" piece of bacon (something else alluded to in another response). I've only witnessed the bacon police on duty during the busy times of the morning buffet. Once things slow down they move on, which also supports the reason they are there to begin with. ETA after reading the responses- it also depends on where the bacon pan is located, if it is in the back then a crew member needs to serve it since the passenger can't reach it, which is true of any food that is in the back.
  3. The only thing they carry AFAIK is Martinelli's sparkling cider.
  4. I've never really cared much for Carnival's bacon. It is crispy, which I don't mind too much, but the taste isn't there for me.
  5. Royal Anthem of the Seas. Nice lay out and even with the large number of passengers there were few times when it felt crowded. Loved the extra entertainment venues.
  6. I'm sure if they saw a market for this they would do it. You could try writing to the person at Corporate that is in charge of this to put the bug in their ear but the ability to store the extra product is limited. I'm not aware of what sorts of agreements they have with vendors but that might also have some impact on their ability to offer this.
  7. I wouldn't risk it because dogs are routinely used at many ports. You don't mention your itinerary but I know that for some ports (like Bermuda) if they authorities find anything it's not just losing the rest of the cruise that is at stake, it's also being taken into custody and being charged. The risk might be low but the consequences can be high (no pun intended there, I promise🤭). DW also makes use of edibles and I make sure that she leaves them behind.
  8. We've only stayed in one suite so far and it was nice being able to soak in a tub. We don't have a full size tub at home so being able to soak in one is a plus. We're in our second suite in April so we will see.
  9. If you don't want to recognize that you are venting your spleen on innocent folk then you won't, but that is what you are doing. The steward had nothing to do with the decision that you are so opposed to and reducing your auto grats won't change a thing, other than the steward's income. Carnival is still the "Fun Ship" for us in what really matters and I'm not going to pay more to sail another line. Should the day come that Carnival doesn't meet our needs that will likely cause us to stop cruising all together.
  10. This the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the subject.
  11. As I understand it popcorn on Carnival has always been criticized and hasn't qualified as a "special touch" since its inception.
  12. As I understand it this is due to staffing issues. Since the passports are made with specific materials this might also be linked to supply chain issues.
  13. It's unlikely that any insurance would provide coverage, especially if she didn't have a passport when the cruise was booked. Some insurance does cover if travel has to be cancelled because of lost or stolen travel documents, I don't believe they cover not having the travel document in the first place. She should probably wait to book until she has the passport in hand (which means hoping that there are cabins left by that time).
  14. All forms of Cruise Cash are actually limited to $500 per cabin.
  15. Yes, I've seen them play Bingo onboard as well and they charge a lot for that, too. 🤣
  16. I can say that about anything because I don't spend money on things that I don't like. They offer it at a price and people can buy it or not.
  17. Popcorn isn't something that I pay a lot of attention to but I do seem to recall seeing it being popped.
  18. If one has enough money in the checking account it probably won't be a concern, but as folks have pointed out it's real money that is being held and not a credit line. OP, here's my personal experience. We put a debit card to hold our account one cruise and I knew that they would put a hold on the account so I planned for it (this wasn't Carnival, BTW, but the result would likely have been the same). I made sure that we had money in the account to meet our budget plus some. I also made sure that we kept within our budget. We disembarked after getting our final bill and stopped for gas just after leaving the port. I used the ATM to check our balance and to get a bit of cash for incidentals. Account overdrawn. What happened was the cruise line put a hold on our account for the balance of our bill the night before disembarkation and then the actual charge went through the next morning. While I had a little in reserve I didn't have twice the amount in reserve so it over drew the account. I was beside myself because that reserve was supposed to get us home (Miami to Vermont with 5 kids). We did have a credit card that we were gong to use for gas but it didn't have much of a limit and it wouldn't be enough to cover much else. The good news is that when we next stopped for gas the hold had been released and all was well in the world. Haven't used a debit card since then. The moral of the story is debit cards are okay to use but you have to be prepared by having enough money in the account to cover the holds and the final charge to keep from overdrawing. If you can manage that then using the debit card is a viable option.
  19. I would think asking for a double (and only having one per day) would be way less expensive than bottle for the cabin.
  20. They were charging for the popcorn pre-COVID so this is nothing new and I recall the price being $3. For what it's worth, Royal sells their popcorn for $5 for the same sized small bag.
  21. Except the homeless person didn't do anything for you, did they? The steward did perform the service and what you used to get in the past is irrelevant (and to be fair you never received twice a day cleaning, you received a cleaning and turn down service).
  22. The passport cards and authentic EDLs are machine readable as well, but I can see it being helpful to the staff to only worry about one form of documentation.
  23. Back this morning and all is well in the world. I would hate for our cruise that happens in about 55 days to disappear.
  24. From a price standpoint it's probably Carnival for the most part but there are deals out there with other lines if one shops around. It depends on how much shopping around the newbie wants to do. A lot has changed in our lives since we started cruising, we are empty nesters and I've received several promotions that have moved us well up on the economic ladder, but Carnival has everything we need at a price we like so we stick with them. We are always on the lookout for an inexpensive cruise on other lines because we still want to sail with as many as we can, but we have no qualms booking with Carnival.
  25. Mine weren't there yesterday. I'm hoping they are there when I log in later today.
