  1. Yes, you are going to be in a remote location, even in while sailing around Chile and the southern part of Argentina. It IS really remote. We saw the occasional navy vessel or vessel. The towns or cities where you stop will have medical facilities, but while sailing you will likely be several hours away.
  2. On Volendam last week there were 2 large scooters each parked by the elevators on both deck 6 & 7. I presume the owners on deck 7 were not in the Neptune suites.
  3. We took the cable car up. It was just re-opened after maintenance. You can get your tickets online and skip the local line.
  4. We just did Montmorency Falls on our own. We Ubered both ways: from Gare du Palais to the falls it was $15ca + tax and the return to the Visitor Center was ~ 25. We arrived as they were opening at 9:00, and were able to show our tickets to get into the parking lot. The pick up driver had no problem getting in to pick us up. There sss s lovely restaurant at the top that opens at noon.
  5. There’s a big difference in all the menus posted as recent and current on various ships. I wonder what that is about.
  6. Interesting that the Not So Classic Baked Alaska no longer features Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia.
  7. Wow. Both of those menus are big cut backs. We decided last cruise that after 2 less than good meals in the PG we aren’t going back. These menus only confirm our decision.
  8. I think it the blocking of the halls that is not popular (nor safe) for anyone, not the scooters themselves. As long as you can get it in your cabin it shouldn’t matter to others. Personally I’d like to see HAL providing a “parking space” that is large enough to hold several scooters and charge them, available by registration. That way more people could travel and the accessible cabins could be available for those who are not ambulatory or minimally ambulatory, and those using a scooter for the “longer distances”.
  9. Good morning all, We’re sitting in YUL getting ready for our flight in a few hours. We had rain all afternoon and evening yesterday. We had lunch from food trucks by the port- fish & chips and a “regular” poutine (hey- that was good! - a light gravy and lots of cheese). Had a great guide and walking tour in Old Montreal. The boat ride could have been skipped (even on a sunny day.) Last night we stopped at “Timmy’s” to get muffins as the hotel breakfast didn’t start until 6:30 and our Uber was due at 5:00. So I guess we did the major “Canada Things”. (That muffin was good!)
  10. Just to finish up on Quebec City today- all aboard changed from 8:00p, to 5:30, then 4:30 as of yesterday. The reason- water depth/tide. We reportedly had 2 meters of clearance at THE bridge. There were lots of pax outside to see the spectacle. And as we (just barely) cleared each bridge the Bridge sounded a long blast from the whistle. Lots of excitement and fun! (We guessed that there might have been a few “code browns” on the bridge.)
  11. Zuidie must have gone sightseeing to the falls. We saw you pull in. No translation needed
  12. Zuidie must have gone sightseeing to the falls sorry .wrong thread
  13. You can always move that life jacket to grammas cabin when the child is with her.
  14. We had a lovely day in Saguenay and are on our way back out the fiord. Tomorrow is Quebec City and I’m a bit nervous being on our own. We’re planning to get an Uber to Montmorency Falls in the morning and then we have a walking tour of the old city afterwards. We have 30 minutes after that to get to the ship after the walking tour. I might tell our guide we might leave them a bit early. ( and pre-tip). We were just downstairs on deck 5 and the most beautiful music was coming from the ladies room. The violinist was playing in there, looking out the window at the fiord. (Ladies who have been on the R class ships know what I’m talking about.)
  15. Debbie, was that the blue shop at the bottom of a “sort of” “hill”?
  16. Well, the chocolate covered Cheerios are alive and well on the Chocolate Surprise.
  17. Here’s a few shots from the Cake Me Away event. The chocolate Lindt cake was delicious. Interesting, we’re getting the old HAL chocolate squares and not the new Lindt ones.
  18. So today was a sea day ( our last 😫) and the decks were closed most of the day due to high winds. Despite that, the ride has been pretty smooth. And being the last sea day, it’s also a Gala night, and we’re due for the Chocolate Surprise in another hour and a half. Being we also had Cake me Away at noon, I think we’ve had enough sugar today. Maybe. DH did well on his first “indoor day at sea” and said at dinner the cruise seemed short. (Agreed). So ready for another installment of food porn? Here’s dinner: Beef Tenderloin Oscar with Crab Grilled Chicken And a little “twist” on appetizers from last dressy night.
  19. Good morning all, We’re making our way to Saguanay and it’s our last sea day. We have fog, but I don’t hear the foghorn- probably because I’m inside the Lido. Yesterday we were at PEI. We loved it. Our tour didn’t start until noon so we walked the Historic and the Seaview trails. We didn’t have quite enough time for lunch and a tour of Beaconsfield House, so I’m leaving unfinished business here. For lunch we stopped at the Wharf and I got a crab and shrimp roll (😁) and DH got poutine ( so I think we got the right thing this time). Our tour went to Prim Point lighthouse and Woods Island Lighthouse, and the Rosignol winery. Loved the lighthouses- we got to climb to the top ( not for the faint hearted) and they had the fresnel lenses rotating ( the second one had its light on). The winery uses grapes, but also cranberry, blueberry, raspberry and others. We sampled each but weren’t inspired to buy any. (I usually like to bring a bottle home to share with Dad when he comes for Sunday dinner.) As a special treat ( really I think we had to) we sailed under the Bridge leaving PEI. That’s some structure! Have a great day everyone! Beaconsfield House Prim Light ( there’s something like 6 of these ladders- only 15 at a time!) Woods Island light Under the bridge!
  20. If you don’t have insurance that covers the second fare (single supplement) you may be charged for it. The HAL policy does not cover it.
  21. Good morning all, We’re sailing in to Corner Brook and the fiord was a surprise to us! ( I didn’t have much time to research). Ill be back later
