Another reason to check out Oceania, in their buffet they exclusively serve B&M baked beans.  Nothing screams "luxury" like pork and beans

I did look at Oceania online. The next day I got a phone call from Oceania. They must have called my IP Address. Penthouse Suites are under the pool and or the buffet. On the S Class ship. I was in 2133 sky suite and could hear what sounded like a conveyor belt during the night/early morning. I do like the M Class as most suites are on deck 6.

Maybe it does not apply to you, but I find that a number of North American cruisers do not have adventurous palates. They often do not like fish and are convinced that steak is the be-all and end-all of proteins. Lamb, squab and duck are considered "exotic".  Heaven forfend they have to deal with sea urchin or pork cheeks. Most don't know a veloute from a vierge.

Yes, you are talking about me. I really dont think of myself as a picky eater. When it comes to meat it is mostly beef, chicken or pork. In general I wont eat lamb, duck, goat, quail, pheasant, horse, deer or veal. Mostly because they are cute. Squab. I new it was pigeon, but did not know it is a young pigeon. Got to put that in with veal. When it comes to fish I do like Pacific salmon. I will eat shrimp, raw or cooked oysters, crab, clams, escargot, octopus, lobster, pickled herring. I do like Luminae's menu over Blu's.

I will eat what is served to me at some ones house or business trip at corporate event. In China I had turtle soup. In Saudi Arabia I was invited to a goat grab.

I have been disappointed in the Oceanview Café Indian food at lunch as Celebrity seems to be pushing fish dishes. What happened to the Indian food with chicken.

  3. Since the restart we have done 4 cruises. 3 of them have been Alaska cruises. 2 were on Millie and 1 on Solstice. I'm currently looking to book an Alaska cruise for Sept 2024. We have done 1 cruise on the Edge in a sky suite. The Summit would be very nice, but adding airfare to Anchorage and transfer to Seward. I decided to pass on the Summit. The Edge out of Seattle would be the simplest for us. We are 30 mins from the cruise terminal. Solstice out of Canada Place is about a 3 hour drive from Seattle. In my eyes Solstice has the better itinerary. I like Hubbard Glacier, Icy Strait Point and glassblowing. So I looked at the cost for a celebrity suite. Well, I was thinking about giving the Edge another chance, but the cost difference means we will pick Solstice out of Vancouver. Solstice will cost less and has the better itinerary. Sailing on the Edge in a CS will cost $3900 more then sailing on Solstice. Photos are of Hubbard Glacier.

  4. In the past when we went to Broadway trivia. My DH would know most of the answers. We used to get luggage tags, tote bags, neck lanyards for your seapass card. This was years ago before smart phone and wifi.

  5. Friends in a sky suite asked their butler to set up an anniversary party for about 10 people. Wine, sparkling wine, water, soda and snacks. Went to a party in the PH. They had Sushi on 5 items as snacks.

We have coffee and fruit delivered at 7am each morning by the butler. Celebrated a birthday in a sky suite.

understood, but there are many land/resort vacations that offer as much or more value. The cruise lines should pause a bit because many of us will stop patronizing them if they continue to treat us so disrespectfully and just do land resorts. The BS factor on cruises is getting too high.

We will be doing our 1st all-inclusive resort in Playacar, Mexico later this month. It has nothing to do with Celebrity and the recent changes. We are meeting up with friends from England. We met them on a cruise in 2016.

If I might ask, how long do you have to actually book a cruise with a FCL certificate before the OBC booking perk expires?

You now have 1 year to book a cruise with your certificate. Or get your money back.

So you could only use 1 ($100) certificate towards the cruise and paid additional $100 deposit for the second name added for a non refundable cruise?  And ended up the bonus credit from 1 certificate?  She told us that deposit would be $100 that is from the certificate but will have to pay $450 for the second name added.

I had my TA book a Celebrity Suite for us last month. My reservation has a total of $200 deposit. Quote is from my TA.

"Celebrity required a additional $100 – they said that your certificate number xxxxxx had only 1 guest (Richard) and $100 so they needed to add Randy plus $100.

Please confirm that your certificate has only a $100 deposit on it."

In the past I have upped to a full deposit to get additional benefits from Celebrity.

  9. More info needed. What class of ship are you going to be on? If M Class ship is it Millie or the Summit? With 3 different classes of ship and then some have been revolutionized other have not. More I think about it. I dont think M class ships have Sunset Sky Suites. So Edge or Solstice class ship.

Celebrity's new "connecting" cabins don't really connect.  There are doors in the hall that are closed to create a small vestibule common to the regular cabin doors.

There are vestibule between sky suites 8214 & 8216 and a inside cabin 8212 or 8218. Are you booking a suite?

From a flier about the Edge, dated 2019

    57. WILL THE CONNECTED STATEROOMS FEATURE THE SAME SETUP DESIGN OF ONE DOOR BETWEEN BOTH STATEROOMS, SIMILAR TO CELEBRITY SILHOUETTE AND CELEBRITY REFLECTION? • There are 174 rooms that can be connected by a vestibule or a door. • 134 connecting, and 40 vestibules.

I had brought the luggage charge up a long time ago, even before they had many ships sailing. The airlines brought in $5 billion dollars in 2019. The cruise lines are much smaller but zI would guess it would be well into the tens of millions. They should have levied the fuel surcharge as stated in the cruise contract, which I believe it is $14 p.p. per day with a seven day max per cruise. Based on 2,000 passengers that would be almost  $125,000 per ship per week. From what I can find, there are 60 ships in the RCL Group, do the math 60 x $125,000 per week. Between the two, they would have turning a profit for awhile and the would have been making a profit and paying off debt for several months now. Instead the cut services, by cheaper materials raise prices, and most of all alienate loyal customers.

Ten years ago we knew about a dozen couples who cruised several times a year spending big bucks every time. Now we know nobody who has cruised or even plan to since before the pandemic.

This year we did a land trip to England 14 nights with carry-on luggage only. On BA we could have checked 3 bags free each at 70 lbs. The main reason we did this was LHR was having baggage issues earlier this year. We also did a 7 night Alaska cruise with carry-on only.

I think the outdoor retreat is a joke , need to walk up stairs to get there , no bar , just a hot tub , only good thing is you can get lunch there on port days when Luminae is closed , only a couple of things on menu, I prefer the old Michael since it had a piano .

I do agree, but we had a really nice lunch on Millie at the Retreat deck in Alaska. 6 people and 2 staff, great service. Yes on a port day after ziplining.😵

There is no dress code in the MSC Yacht Club.  Smart Casual works every day all day, unless you choose to dine in the MDR [and why would you?].  After dinner, no dress code on the ship – and your butler will escort you to the reserved area for the show.  Granted the ship is huge and crowded, but as a Yacht Club guest you never feel the crowding.

I read Gala Night wrong. I can still wear my jeans with no holes. Thanks
