  1. Thanks everyone. We will be flying domestic from New Delhi to Mumbai. After a little more research, I found that the cruise port terminal does have a duty free shop. That should solve the problem.

  2. Have searched and can't find the answer to my question. Is it possible to buy a full bottle of scotch on board the ship (room service or bar) for in room consumption? Not sure there will be a place to do so before boarding in Mumbai.

  3. The clinics in the US are called Passport Health. They are in most bigger cities, or one day a week in smaller towns. We got a YFV when we went to the Amazon 14 years ago. Just got it again for a trip to India. This one is now good for life. Here is the thing, these places do not REQUIRE this vaccination if you are coming from countries where Yellow Fever is not endemic. We got it for our own protection since it is endemic in Brazil and Delhi.

  4. So, basically, no one so far has actually experienced a late flight with Viking? Since the ship will be overnighting in Bangkok the day of our departure, maybe they will let us hang out on the ship.

  5. We will be using Viking Air Business. Does anyone know what the baggage/transfer situation might be for the way home if we are on an evening flight. I’d really prefer to see something on the city than sit at the airport for 12+ hours waiting for our flight.

I am curious about this as well. Our flight out of Bangkok is late evening and we wondered if we be forced to sit at the airport all day or, if some other arrangements could be made for touring.

  6. We disembarked this last Sunday the 29th from our Oceania cruise. As Anne stated light traffic but airport security tight.

I would suggest contacting a tour operator and arrange your day. They would suggest a church for you to attend. And drop you off at your hotel.

Thanks for the advice, however, we would want to get a taxi at the cruise port and be delivered back there.

  7. We will be embarking the Viking Orion on Sat, Sept. 8 and over nighting in port. On Sun. morning we would love to get a taxi to the nearest Catholic Church for Mass. Is that possible? Would the driver be willing to return for us after an hour?

  8. We too are Clevelanders - know Hopkins well. Be interested in hearing what your experience is once you get your tickets.

We are down in Kent. My quick research shows only two choices, UA and AC. Delta is our prefered but that would be a much longer trip it seems. We did a Viking river cruise on the Mekong a few years ago. CLE to Hanoi and Bangkok to CLE was cheaper and the connections were good.

  9. In Sept. we are flying from Cleveland, OH to Delhi, India.and then back from Bangkok. We are going to use Viking air business class. Like you, we can no longer endure 18 to 24 hour trips in economy. However, our life is so crazy at the moment that searching for flights was not something i needed to add to my "to do" list so, i bit the bullet and for the first time in all our many years of cruising I am letting the cruise line do it. Hope i didn"t cost us too much money..
