To be precise, Crew Appreciation is the former auto gratuities billed to the cabin account nightly and you had the option to pre-pay via the Cruise Personalizer. These monies are for cabin stewards, dining waiters and other behind scenes personnel. The daily CA is included in Plus & Premier. If a guest doesn't have Plus or Premier, they pay directly, but there is the option to remove all or a portion of CA in this case (not with packages). Most of us on here frown at a suggestion to remove CA if allowed to do so. For bar service and other similar, there is 18% automatically added to every item and this is not optional and cannot be removed. If a guest has purchased a beverage package, then every ordered beverage under the package comes with no extra gratuity charge because the package cost has 18% added to it. If a guest has Plus or Premier, they have a beverage package included and therefore the bar gratuity of 18% has been included. Notice this is something separate from the CA. Finally, if a guest orders a beverage outside the package coverage, then they pay the full cost and the 18% (example would be ordering a beer when guest has a non-alcohol package). If they order a beverage that would fall in the package, but is over the maximum cost allowed (e.g. $15), then they pay the difference between the max limit and their drink, plus 18% on that cost difference.

I do have to wonder how long this will last as the quality of beef served had gone down a year and so ago and several had noticed as I did. This is a welcome change and was noted as well by our OP. Is it due to the new ship and a lot of reviews being done? If this is indeed a change, will we see it across the fleet? Sorry, but my two bits is on this is being temporary except for SD locations and Signature restaurant.

You should apply for a job at Spellbound.

On another thread, someone new to PCL was asking about clothes line (i.e. the retractable ones in the shower stalls). Anyone know if Princess has installed those in the Sun cabins?
-
But it is a good question if they included them in the Sun cabins.
-
I get you, but there are always those who expect something and may or may not be deserving. You have been diligent in dealing with Princess to get the anomaly rectified.
-
My guess would be a combination of things. I believe, generally, that Princess moves Captains among the vessels at certain intervals to keep them fresh in a way, but also keep them current on the different vessel classes, etc. Also, the introduction of Sun meant new assignments and shifting and a need for two new captains to fill voids left by moves to the Sun. I recall a posting about one of the captain's needing time off for some personal situation, so that triggers a shift and then again when he returned. I imagine things will settle down again into the regular 2-captain rotation, but you should expect some movement around the fleet at times as had been the case over the recent years I have been paying some attention.

Perhaps Princess is planning to contact all those booked in a D0 - won't be too many since number of cabins x number of voyages won't be all that many. This would be smart of them to try and nip the issue in the bud and not have it on-going. You'd think they might offer a SD credit or some OBC for the screw-up. But that seems a pittance especially for the folks that wondered if it could be true and specifically inquired of Princess about it.

Interesting "Value" Breakdown of Premier Package
Steelers36 replied to BlerkOne's topic in Princess Cruises
That seems conservative since it equates to roughly Sabi's cover + 18%, whereas the CG is more expensive (like $46 with gratuity). -
For me, the concern is there can be no or little opportunity for non-Signature guests to access the Sanctuary if they were happy with the cost, the sunshine and a non-padded lounger. Or, even if those things were fixed (shade and pads).
-
I seriously doubt a Sanctuary employee/manager is going to prevent a teen from coming in to check in with parents for a few minutes before heading off to do something else.

Interesting "Value" Breakdown of Premier Package

Exactly, forget about PCL bs numbers and write down what you will do and consume (as a couple) and what it costs and see how that compares to $60/pp/day ($120/day). Then, make an informed decision on which way to go. PS - PCL has given some notice of the package price increase in the past, so I would expect same going forward. -
Yahbut.. most of the other loungers (to date) do not have the nice pads.

I don't see young kids being able or interested in being plunked down all day in a chair snoozing or reading/listening to a book. And teenagers ought to know how to act, so I don't see a big deal. This is hardly anywhere close to the biggest issues with the current setup.

As long as you can get a lounger.
