I do not have a current booking so can only imagine what you two are describing. Is it possible the Upgrade banner is there to indicate what you get in addition if upgrade the package to the $60 level? My understanding is that the new benefits only apply for guests who have booked/paid/upgraded at the $60/$80 price-point and don't get them otherwise. Basically, the old Plus gets the new drink cost limit. Anyway, they were pretty clear about the new things only applying to those who pay $60/$80.

The survey results on this new post: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2953482-poll-how-will-you-sail-now-with-all-of-the-upcoming-package-changes/ Indicate approximately 50-50 between Standard and Plus, with a slight edge to Plus and that is pretty much the feel I have from various threads and posts. Both groups are impacted in different ways. As a Standard booker, the only real impact to us will be new a la carte costs to have lunch at Alfredo's/Gigi's. I can live with that and don't see it as out of line with the other similar for-fee casual dining spots (sit-downs pretty much). I am not surprised to see price increases. That said, I wouldn't be happy as a Plus booker because I think they didn't do a good job with figuring out the new service fees and number of times to get free casual dining. PS - We didn't use the delivery services before, so no impact.

This has been clarified on the point that the $15 covers delivery to room. I would have same issue because the App is defective in that it doesn't have all bar drinks and they have no custom "name your drink" option. And no notes as you say. I had bugged PCL about this when Ocean Now first came out. I guess they still have not fixed it. So, I think you have hit on something where a guest who has paid the $15 is going to end up complaining if assessed a $5 fee because they had no choice other than to call in. Perhaps staff will be trained to look for the Ocean Now fee and not charge or the trips to GS (or Crew Chat) are going to climb to get $5 removed. It would be so simple if they had just put a custom option in the Ocean Now choices as OTHER or CUSTOM NOTES. But no. More obstacles instead of JP's promise at the outset that this was going to make cruising a breeze and remove barriers to guests so they could just have a wonderful, carefree vacation.

IMO, your mention is irrelevant since the ship currency is USD. You either book and pay in USD or book and pay in CAD which is just the conversion rate. I book in USD to USD credit card and control when I get or convert USD (I have a supply in any case). Everyone's break even is independent of currency and best to analyze in USD. It still costs you $60 USD for Plus however you look at it. In CAD, it is $81.

Yes if you mean at dinner. They are always around. Some waiters are prowling the open decks, but maybe a few less as they will be delivering drinks ordered via Ocean Now in the App.

Blogging from the Sapphire Princess

The Sapphire is posted as first out the gate on AUG 2. Next ships are August 12. -
Many folks reported as you but then said their credit card was not charged $10. I believe you get 2 comp'd meals per segment. This is based on guests getting the 2 SD credits per segment already. They specifically stated that a guest who booked two physical voyages B2B (say 7 + 7) will be assessed two Ocean Now fees of $15. However, if guest booked the logical 14 night version, they will be assessed one Ocean Now fee. Will that hold is a whole other question. A WC booker for 95/111 nights or so is going to be assessed one $15 fee.

Yes, it has been a lot of changes in a relatively short period of time. I imagine most of those agents sell other lines and don't have the time to keep up as experts in PCL. I imagine some of the folks on this forum know more about cruising with Princess than 90% of TA's. Not looking to toot my horn, but I believe I am in that group and who knows if we will keep up the frequency of sailing with PCL? Not because of these changes, but maybe we are mostly cruised out. That said, Alaska is still on the list and no question we will go with PCL. I would also repeat part of S.A. and a trip around the Caribbean sometime again is always a nice Winter break.
