  1. Bringing at least some bags on, if not all, has never stopped me from opening a beer prior to getting unpacked.
  2. @Mary loves to travel, another way I like to look at it is as a couple. Often each person in a couple have differing drink habits - types of, alcohol or non, etc. In your case a 4-device package seems to suffice for two of you. That is now $40, which is more than 2x 1-device ($30), unlike previous pricing where they were the same. I have also read where the upgrade charge being applied on board (from 1-device to 4-devices) is not $25 as one might expect ($40 - $15), but rather $10!!! (the old differential). Now, this may not last long because likely a system pricing bug, but there is also no financial reason to pre-book MedallionNet as there was before. Same pricing on board as pre-cruise. So, Crew Appreciation is $32/day combined. Plus is $120/day combined. Balance is $88. MedallionNet (with discount) is going to cost you $15/day for 2x 1-device, $20/day for 1 x 4-devices, or perhaps as low as $12.50/day if you buy a single device plan @ $7.50 and can immediately upgrade it for $10 x 50%/day. Figure out this number and the balance is drinks for the two of you.
  3. Aside from your analysis, if you tend to travel a lot, why not have a bank account in USD and a credit card in USD to avoid a lot of the costs you mention? Also, there are credit cards that do not have the currency conversion surcharge and they are great for the world beyond the USA.
  4. If you are doing math analysis - a good idea - it is important to work with the correct numbers. MedallionNet pricing has been increased for some time now and the 4-device package is priced at $40/pp/day now, so $20/pp/day with the discount. Also, since you are going for that, it is not likely you need two of them if were not on an inclusive package. If you are looking at the PLUS package, Crew Appreciation ($16), plus included single-device MedallionNet ($15 or $7.50 with discount) will give you the correct differential for the drinks (excluding over-the-top desserts). In your case, the balance for beverages is $60 - ($16 + $7.50) = $36.50/pp/day. A small difference, but just wanted to correct the record for those reading.
  5. One way to look at it. Another way - or option - is TA could give it as a cash back discount off the fare or OBC. I say it still should come down to a math analysis and what each guest beverage habits are and whether the drink portion of the Plus/Premier package makes sense. For example, for us it would be useless for our TA to offer to do this when we could be much better place with that money in our pockets.
  6. Interesting number there. Indicates the regular price was $45 total, or $15/day. That is quite odd to me because prior to the last MedallionNet price increase, single day charge was $20. It looks like they gave you the multi-day rate of $15. Perhaps they only charge the $20 if a single day is booked, or non-consecutive days.
  7. Correct - no guarantee of that at all. However, ask DR Mgmt to lock you into the same table and you should have great chance of success.
  8. I wouldn't exactly call it retail pricing, but it is probably about the most reasonable thing Princess has on offer considering all the price increases of late and it is MUCH more convenient than lugging heavy containers of water on board. I save my lugging for fermented grape juice. 😎
  9. @Host CJSKIDS,.. Hi. I have an idea, but may not be something CC would consider and beyond the "work" you guys want to do. Nothing against the OP because some folks don't drop in here all that often, but I couldn't begin to provide a count of how many threads have been started along the lines of "What happened to the coffee card/pkg?". Similarly there are multiple reposts asking about other changes that folks just don't seem aware of, even if information is on Princess.com. What if CC had a "Latest Princess News" type banner at top of the Princess Forum (could be done for other lines as well) and topical sub-thread entries are made in descending date order whereby changes a new things are highlighted with a description of the information so that members could go there to check into news and updates about Princess since they last visited CC. These posts would be admin type posts with no ability to discuss and debate - that would still be done in the normal way if members care to pontificate on a news item. I am thinking this could be a useful reference/reminder section. Princess.com is not really a substitute because they seem to take forever to update documentation and have it consistent. Also, like many other organizations, they don't tend to announce deductions in services, or perceived loss of value and perks.
  10. There cannot be an "old" . The "new" is the same old WMD, except with a new vintner name and some new marketing spazz to blow smoke up our whatevers and try to make us think gee-whiz this is something to lay down $280 for to dine out with the spouse.
  11. But that won't take up the entire DR. My thinking is they have been doing this a lot lately and allows for walk-up space and for satisfying guests who want to secure same table and waiters every night.
  12. Yes, it takes a couple of days for a res to get updated in the Princess App database. And never attempt to use the Link a Booking option. No one here knows why it is there. It has no function for the guest and many posts have advised not to touch it.
  13. They recently had some 80's themed cruises. Pre-Covid, the CD staff would put on a Sock Hop event a couple times in one evening. They used to have themed parties on the open deck in warm regions, but it seems like they just want to blast the guests with over-amplified sound in the Piazza these days.
  14. This was the consensus on the original thread started when the press release came out a month ago. Or, at least the consensus was, book a SD dinner and bring your own Caymus for far less money.
  15. This news has been posted before, but I have yet to see anyone post a report about it. No start date was given and we may be waiting a long time to hear anything about it due to the ridiculous high price. In the original thread, other posters were pointing out that most of the wines, other than the featured Caymus Cab, weren't worth much. There is much better value in the Chef's Table Lumiere at a lower price point. I don't understand how many people are going to be roped into this. Sure, the meal is elevated over the CG menu, but you could bring your own Caymus and dine in CG for a lot less. Or, take in the CT at $120 (unless price increased) and get similar meal experience plus extras. As to the old one, I cannot imagine they would offer the similar thing for $100 less and expect to sell seats for both. The former WMD was the best value dining on the ship when the price point was $11 more per person than a CG meal and came with lots of wine.
  16. Interesting. Reminds me of the old way of selling concert tickets when you went to an actual outlet and they would hand out numbered tickets or wristbands and then draw for which number was going to be first in line. Same idea at some concerts when they have a "pit". Anyone looking to get there and holding a "pit" ticket gets a numbered wristband on arrival and at a designated time, they draw the number for first in line, so everyone lines up from that number to the max and then from 1 up to the number drawn. Worst luck would be to have the number that is one less than first-in-line. The key is they only give out the number of wristbands equal to capacity in the area, so everyone gets in, but may not get their ideal spot.
  17. But they aren't because the guests checking in at the special off-site location are getting these bookings before the rest of the guests have boarded. Once general boarding has commenced, it wouldn't make sense to show up at the off-site location and I don't believe it was going to be in operation all day long. That said, the person at the off-site can always call the Sanctuary mgr on the phone and get information exchanged on available loungers. Also, the person at the off-site handling it has to call the ship to discuss bookings made ahead of boarding in any case so that the diagram is update prior to other guests coming aboard and the off-site person probably knows which chairs are already gone to B2B'ers. Just my figuring on the situation.
  18. True. AFAIK, this is a Port Everglades thing right now, which of course is the launch port for the most voyages with super-high demand. Most of those Suite folks would never beat me to the Sanctuary reception, but I cannot in truth begrudge them this extra perk. Much. 😉
  19. If offered, it's in the buffet area. It is not a dining option offered in the App. I have not heard this mentioned recently, but a while back folks were reporting not seeing it offered on their ships.
  20. I spent a bit of effort attempting to figure out the Australian website for Princess (perhaps you could supply the URL, but I suspect I won't be able to get into it from North America). Anyway, unless Princess has a completely different policy from Australia market, a guest cannot book one with Plus or Premier Cruise Fare option and the other with Standard Fare option. The first two guests in a stateroom MUST be booked under the same Cruise Fare plan type. It could be that the rep booked you both in Standard Class and then "sold" you the Plus beverage package. If so, you got taken for a ride because that is a waste of money and you may as well have booked both of you using the Plus Cruise Fare package. This could be why you think he was overcharged - I really don't know. You should make inquiries and see what your booking really is and see if you can change it.
  21. It isn't an App or IT issue. I'd start with a regular rep or sales actually since they may know or have done it before. I gather you book directly with Princess. If I got nowhere, I might ask for customer solutions as it means the phone rep goes up a level for information and resolution. Maybe someone else here will have a good idea in the meantime.
  22. Yup, that is a problem and a fellow member here on CC posted a similar story. Often parents book one parent and one child per cabin for a number of reasons and then swap on board. It can get you Elite benefits for both cabins for example. I realize it can also force you to pay Plus for both kids if you are someone who goes with that package. I am not sure if you can get Princess to make the 17-year old 18 for a short time so you can do the file work and then correct it back. I cannot think of a good work-around but that older post I am thinking of might have had a solution. At least you can access parents account. I'd try asking a Princess rep if they can do something for you.
  23. Google might have returned you some old info and it could also be the old per-day quote when booking for the entire voyage as the old price was $10/day. I don't play their stupid 99-cent game.
  24. All MedallionNet orders are subject to 50% discount if guest qualifies.
