  1. How much was the CT on Island and where did they hold it? When we were on an extended journey on Island, they had a couple of special dinners with a wine theme in Sabatini's , so it was about 60 guests. It was like a large-scale WM Dinner. Hear of that sort of opportunity at all?
  2. We'd rather put the saved cash into our port tours and port experiences. 😉
  3. They are supposed to be playing. The idea isn't that you show up to the casino just to smoke. So, if that is being enforced, it is a good thing as far as it goes.
  4. My inspiration is sometimes James T Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru. https://www.forbes.com/sites/janetstemwedel/2015/08/23/the-philosophy-of-star-trek-the-kobayashi-maru-no-win-scenarios-and-ethical-leadership/?sh=28ccc20f5f48
  5. Pretty much where it is. I kind of agonize a bit whether to do it or not, but when half the time we are in port, that reduces the drinking opportunities (notwithstanding wine with dinner). So that means doubling up on sea days to make it worthwhile. I almost went for it for this Fall and decided not, so any dollar more will just make the case worse for me, assuming the other two parts of PLUS remain constant. The current drinks cost portion number for me is $23/pp/day and I would need it to go DOWN in order to consider PLUS. The only reason I thought about adding it on for this Fall was due to having saved thousands of dollars via price drops and such that I could have added the PLUS and still been below our original bookings net cost (PLUS would cost us $3,120 total).
  6. I don't think your question was answered above. What you want to know is when voyages for Fall/Winter 2023 & 2024 will open for booking. Should be soon.
  7. All the MDR's on all of the ships have the same menu each night. By that I mean all the MDR's on a single ship have the same menu on a particular night and this is the case across the fleet.
  8. Yes, but the smokers cannot just stroll down the street to the next casino that allows smoking. If the casino is open, they will come. I think at least half the smokers in the casino are there just to smoke.
  9. True, but I don't see it all that often. Maybe I am oblivious to it unless actually thinking about it. Either that, or I am too busy looking at MY phone. 🤣
  10. I have read this before and wondering if there is an explanation for this on board either from DR Mgmt or (more likely) the OCEAN team members on board. This is quite disturbing after everyone has put in the effort to make the reservations ahead of time, etc, to find them wiped out and then you don't know at first whether you can get re-setup at the DR. It's not your phone and maybe not even the MC App. Could be back-end system issue. I guess we don't know if EVERY guest on the same voyage also lost their reservations, or if random. I would love to get some insight into this issue/bug at some point. Meanwhile, I go into MC App and check our DR res setup every couple of days or so. But doing that won't help if the whole setup is wiped out on embarkation day. That is real bad on them. Seems pretty basic stuff IMO. If I hear it was only some guests, makes me wonder if they purposely wiped out the "TD Style" bookings for full voyage at same time, so they could manually get people the same table and waiters each night. That would probably be giving them too much credit - LOL. Thanks for any insight if you or other guests heard anything.
  11. Not trying to be a smartass, but I realize I am getting curious as to what the folks do with their phones at home or in other travel situations when they just lock them away in the safe for a week, two weeks - whatever - while on a cruise. Any insight might be interesting to read. We use the phone for the on-board intranet functionality, to contact and be in touch with tour providers, and we might use it to WHATSAPP call home. We can also use our PC for that via ZOOM or similar. I would not want to return home after a vacation to scores of emails. If we are away for an extended period, there is usually some banking matters and bills to deal with (not everything is auto-pay and auto-transfer). So, it is a mix of phone and PC. But believe me, I don't spend my day on social media or games.
  12. You show up at the DR door and let the greeter(s) know you are CC and they will direct you to that area. It's just inside the door. Someone will show you to a table. If tables are all occupied (seems rare), you may have a few minutes wait. You go for dinner whenever it suits you. Same menus, but possibly an extra dish some nights.
  13. We prefer mid-ship DR location as well. That is not to say there are great waiters in the Aft DR. For now, all we can get for same time at a Private table for our dining party is the Aft DR. But I will be trying to move it.
  14. I only do that hold thing is my agency is closed or after hours. I can normally do the booking using the agency booking interface and put it on hold and then just send email to TA to carry it forward. Since I am not yet using a VPN, if I book on Princess.com, it is in CAD, so I have to call in and have an agent do a booking in USD and put it on hold. But then, it requires a transfer, or I cancel and TA books. Easier to book it on their website and then they own it. Many TA's have a self-serve booking site. How I trick it is to change last 4-digits of my CC so it is not valid. The res takes, but generates a payment error. This is because they don't have an option to apply FCD's and are looking for a cash deposit. Always a way...
  15. Hmm... on Saturday I got an American. Not sure if at home or office. Actually, I had her before answer an OCEAN call in the past.
  16. IMO, if a guest is going to book and then transfer to a TA, either do it self-serve online and put the booking on hold, or just do it with a regular phone rep and don't do it with a CVP. That would be like going to see your local TA down the street to book the cruise and then transferring to a discount online agent. Not very fair to the first agent.
  17. Guests who have Club Class dining do not need DMW as they just show up at the DR and are seated on demand in that section. They only need DMW to book a Specialty Dining.
  18. You need to review your itinerary. It will be second night if a Sea Day for sure. Post your itinerary and many of us will be able to get you at least a 90% correct stab at it.
  19. You will be able to do what you want - be a walk-up. Or, you could always check for a res same-day if you know the approximate time you want. Princess has only been releasing 2 of 3 DR's into the App for pre-booking with the 3rd held back until voyage date. So, there should be space to be found. Also, I expect dining improvements as we roll through 2022.
  20. <deleted> (you were writing about a new one)
  21. Yes, they used to offer a couple of the CG mains in the DR for an upcharge (forgetting the amount now). I hope that returns. Someone needs to ask a DRO or the F&B Mgr on one of the ships. It cannot be due to Covid-19 IMO. Could be just a policy change as perhaps not many guests ordered the option. I did a couple of times.
  22. Connect to the WiFi first. I think there may be a link in the MC App. I know you can do this URL: <shipname>.princess.com. I think you can also do login.com, or similar.
  23. Thanks much for your response. If we do it, I will remember to let you know about it. It is a recent new idea as we were just going along with ending Regal in Rome, with five days to ourselves and then board Island. But our last stops are Sicily and Naples. Have no need to go to Naples again and we will be there another time on these cruises. We could "jump ship" in Messina, and have a week on the island and make our way back to Civi to catch the Island.
  24. Yes. If this requirement sticks, we can do test at home on a Wednesday in late Sep before flying to FCO and the test will be good for boarding day since we land two days prior and depart evening three days prior.
