  1. Some years ago I called Princess to check on my points towards Elite status. As she listed my cruises, I interrupted, saying I didn't recall ever taking one of the cruises I was being credited for. She laughed and said, "Don't worry. Once awarded, we never take cruise credit away" Good for Princess. Boo for Celebrity.

  2. I don't see why not. A nice pair of shorts by it name are just not as long as a pair of nice pants.

I plan to wear them. It's the new chic!

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, but many a true word is spoken in jest. If that's your idea of chic, who am I to criticize?

  3. We had a roast chicken!

We also get on the Constellation TOMORROW for an Eastern Caribbean cruise!!

We do, too, and last night while we were packing, my wife says "My heart isn't in this". That was my thought, exactly, but I didn't want her to know. We do three in a row starting next month which will be another pause for concern, but I really think it's time to rethink our vacations. It's been fun but it's getting to be too much of a good thing.

  4. What with 30,000 (about) people being shot each year I can assure I am a lot more concerned about a random with a gun suddenly deciding to shoot me! All the police and army are constantly looking for terrorists, so less concerned about them.

Say, Kerry, just to set the record straight, in 2013 approximately 32000 gun deaths occurred in the USA, a rather large country with 310 million residents. 11,000 were homicides and 21000 were suicides. Suicides, I repeat. I would bet that most of the homicides were drug and gang related or murders committed by family or friends. I don't understand your fears.

  5. What's your point...??

Who said you shouldn't dress up if that's what you want to do?

Who said people that dress up too go to church = bad?

I said as a guess that the people in jeans/shorts or whatever... Are most likely nice... I guess like MOST that also choose to dress up are also nice... MOST!

So no not a judgment just an opinion...

As mentioned in a previous post I'm not that familiar with this guy God's current dress code for his church's as its not my place of choice, but from what I've heard he's not into judging people by the dress choice unlike quite a few people on the cruise critic celebrity dress forums... [emoji57]

You intimated that people who dressed for church are judgmental, which in today's world is the worse possible sin, even worse than smoking, apparently.

This guy God (nice) had a parable in which the master of the house threw out guests who did not dress appropriately for a wedding feast. Many are called, He said, but few are chosen, so I think this guy God has made things quite clear his preference for church attire, less so for dressing on a Celebrity ship:D

  6. Well said,

I guess someone that judges their fellow church goers by their dress says more about them Vs the most likely nice people in jeans & shorts or whatever...

And after all, we're only worshipping God, so why bother dressing up? Let's see, people who dress for church= bad, people in shorts=nice.

Aren't you making a judgment here?

  7. Nothing you mention is within the guidelines for mdr. (I guess "Jean" is.) Otherwise everything else you mention is not allowed. I'm not sure if you are serious or just trying to be dramatic for effect, but don't think we need any more misinformation of dress code policies.

If people ignored the dress code on the well defined formal nights, why would you think they won't ignore the perceived dress code on an ill defined Elegant Chic night? Haven't we all read countless "I'm on vacation and I'll wear what I please" threads?

  8. We disembarked Millennium a week and a half ago and there was no table side muesli. When I inquired I found out from the Food and Beverage Manager that the carts they were using did not meet US inspection so they have been removed from all ships and are in the process of being redesigned.

The Government of the United States of America is inspecting carts? Every day a new surprise and a new low.

Actually, this always seemed pretentious to me. Once, my DW said to the waitress, "Don't bother dragging out the cart, just throw some stuff in a bowl and I'll be happy" Uh-uh. Out came the cart

  9. As for those of us who still like to dress-up now and then....you can still have your dressy night. Nothing wrong with being the best dressed on the ship :).

    Hank

I dunno, Hank. The old rule of thumb was that it is better to be underdressed than overdressed for a social function. Speaking for myself, I don't care to be in a tux when all round me are in jeans. And BTW why all the hoopla about jeans? Can't one be chick in slacks?

  10. Yesterday, all I wanted to do was to add my credit card number and complete my on line check-in. Pretty simple, right? No can do. I kept on being returned to previous screens, The great circle route. So, I finally signed on for a cash account and I will switch to a credit card when I reach the terminal.. So frustrating and so unnecessary.

  11. The 8 X 10 is now $25 (standard pull down background, pre-dinner type), and these are not professional photographers (well I guess they get paid).

    Ken

At this moment I am looking at a 5X8 we had taken at our club about six years ago by a pro photographer. $90 as I recall and we don't look any better than in the ships' pictures. $25 is a steal but aside from the boarding photo, I doubt we'll be in the market now that tuxes are out. I can take casual pictures in Elegant Chic clothing at home.

  12. I know many people have problems with their travel insurance claims. I want to say that three weeks ago I filed a claim with AON for a trip we had to cancel in September. Yesterday the payment checks arrived. We could not be more impressed with the service and the ease of filing a claim. Sure hope we never have to do it again, though

  13. I was able to complete online check in for part of my reservation. Trouble printing though and locked out when tried again.

Yesterday, I printed my wife's boarding pass with no trouble, but I couldn't get the luggage tags to print which, I know, is no big deal. Maybe it's my computer, It couldn't be me, could it?

  14. Seems like a lot of concern over how MC lounge will be used and how it will effect CS suites and above.

Just a thought, MC is nice but.....

There is a life outside MC..... If I use the $300 to $400 we save per day by not booking CS and above, spend that money throughout the ship, I can drink and can eat any where ( when I want ) or I choose. By tipping well, good service really does follow.

Cabin sizes tends to be the really big perk and those that spend the $$$$ deserve it ..

I agree. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend hundreds or even thousands ONLY for MC. When I mentioned this on another thread, it apparently hurt the feelings of some sensitive souls, but you're right. That money can buy a lot of joy without ever going near MC

  15. I had a nasty little surprise at final payment a while back. My TA called to conform my desired credit card. Two days later he called again, saying Celebrity wouldn't accept my payment because the quoted fare was incorrect. It cost us $50 p/p per diem for the pleasure of keeping our suite. I know we could have canceled but this cruise was important to us. Who was at fault? I suspect our TA but I might be unfair in thinking that. There might have been a problem with Celebrity's computer program at the time we booked. Who knows? I didn't pursue it.

  16.

You are still ahead of the game here. I also say it's suspect that anyone would say $2200 is the value they place on Michaels club access. For extra space, especially when traveling with more than 1 person, yes. for someone who likes to host gatherings, in suite, yes.

And this, of course, is the key. No one in his right mind would pay $1100 or more merely for access to MC.

Heck, if there is a mad rush to book SSs, Celebrity might have to lessen the cost of CSs. I can't wait:p
