PS We didn’t have norovirus!!!
-
We have booked a OC for the second time, again,
because of plentiful sea days. On a busy itinerary we are always out and about and have had PH or concierge. All great for our specific itinerary needs. The OC was particularly good when there was an outbreak of norovirus onboard. We had plenty of room, own alcohol and any food delivered. All the cabins/suites we have occupied, on Oceania are great in my opinion.

Recently on a cruise with Seabourn, people wore masks until they sat down for meals. It became very clear towards the end of the 11 day cruise that there were many passengers in the buffet area, sounding like they had covid. Coughing and sneezing, using hands instead of elbows, blowing noses into napkins!!!! I know a few people thought us odd picking up serving sooons there, with a serviette around the handles!
Are there no tests on embarkation?

Thank you for your post. It all sounds like really good, as always, except the fact there are no masks in the gym. I went to the gym recently on a seabourn cruise and walked out. A wonderful air of possible virus and no cleaning of equipment covered in sweaty droplets!!!
I’m pleased to hear you are enjoying your time on one of our favourite ships. -
Went on waitlist for OC suite 18 moths prior to cruise. No other stateroom wanted for our particular cruise.Paid.6 months later Oceania called our agent and said we had a suite on deck 12..Our preferred choice.
Great Christmas cruise awaits us......

We just keep coming back to Oceania....

Recently back from a Seabourn cruise (mid March), there were cases of Covid on that.I fell ill on the flight home.Tested negative that evening at home, next day I was positive. My husband did not get it!! The only time we didn’t wear a mask with others around was playing trivia.(supposedly you can’t get Covid sitting down🤣).We did not go to any shows, took one look in the gym and left, sat on our own table for food and used paper napkins to hold serving spoons in the buffet. No tours.

And we were on Riviera in mid-January. Multiple positive Covid’s resulting in suspension of entertainment shows by onboard artists, closure of Casino.....
Not wearing a mask (except when not eating/drinking) is ridiculous.
The casino was closed!! It was never closed on noro virus outbreak on our cruise. And that’s touch transmitted!

I am English and embarking in Miami .

Who me ORV?

No idea yet. I guess whatever hotel Oceania uses.

Our recent flight to Lisbon with Seabourn was BA.the business class seats were no different to economy except an empty one between you. They were awful. So if you are going business just for extra room, just book a cheaper legroom seat and save the cost!

Oceania yesterday updated their policy on their website to say that masks are now required at all times onboard. I searched online to confirm or deny the "EU regulations" and could not find this new mandate.
Can anyone shed some light on this topic? We embark Marina next Thursday in Trieste, Italy.
Thank you in advance!
If I were you, i would take masks anyway. There can be a change in plan at anytime and anywhere.

Our recent booking for this December is per person.the page is split into two with a name either side and the cost pre person for everything.
so: 2x 288$ for hotel 2x 70$ transfers (from ship to airport) Total of just over 700$.. Way too much for our liking.
I will be rather sad if anyone else is paying per couple.

That sounds great Tim. I’m delighted fior you. Well done and you’ve bagged a bargain! 👍

Thank you. Not fussed about a high star hotel so will take a look.

Is there a particular hotel Oceania use in Miami? Flying in from Uk a day early.Thanks.

I wasn’t going to continue to comment on this- as it gets boring.
But we sat and watched them construct the pina coladas on Encore, at the pool bar, using a slush-type machine. The ingredients for that machine came out of a box and the machine then mixed and frosted the stuff. It was added to a plastic glass with white rum and a slice of pineapple. Whilst it was ok, not as good as an original pina colada. -
Should read pisco sour. That can make a pisco and lime drink anywhere if you ask, but it’s not a pisco sour. Not by a long way.
The pina colada at the pool bar is frozen ready made stuff. -
Didn’t try observation bar for piscina sour but we were told it’s only in TK bar they have egg white.
-
On encore recently we were surprised at certain cocktails in certain bars.Pisco sour and old Cuban in TK Grill only.Pina colada in deck bar only. Not much choice off anything in the club.I was sure on many occasions that I did not have Schweppes slimline tonic despite being told it was. When I waited and watched at bars, they could never find any.
Having being told you can have what you want when you want, we were surprised.Tried room service for cocktails in glass and not plastic, but waited too long...We understood that the deck bar is the only bar with an electric blender. TK is the only bar with egg white.

We have a price sorted for the seats. As it’s December 18th, we can’t hang around hoping for upgrades or bids to upgrade. It’s going to be a busy and probably full flight.
Thanks LHT28 for the tip. -
We have air, transfers and hotel through Oceania but will do our own transfers and hotel eventually.
We have BA flight, business class from Rio de Janeiro to Heathrow and cannot book our seats until 60 days before flight. Something to do with ticketing?? The seats are very expensive and we could end up sitting rows apart. Is this the norm? We have a Virgin flight to Miami and have chosen our seats already!!- 1

I agree lincslady. The two we had onboard in TK were both perfect.

Personally we though Marseilles was one of the worst ports we visited.Get away from the port on a tour bus or a ship tour.
