From what I remember (been about 4 years since there) it was about a 20 minute walk (but that’s a slower pace as I do have issues with walking). It was a pleasant walk, over the bridge and you’re right there to look at shops, eat, drink etc. It’s one of my favourite ports. We’ve also grabbed a 2 hour city tour right at dock which was reasonably priced.

@lx200gps And this from a relative: The border officer told me I was randomly selected and handed me a test kit. However it had to be supervised which is why I went to a participating Shoppers drug mart the next day.

@lx200gps this is from my friend: They tell you that you have been randomly selected. They give you a test kit and instructions & you have to make appt to have a tech monitor you doing the test.

No the borders are supposed to be the same but depends on the officer I guess. I’ll text my friend and ask her-I guess I just assumed she was told at the border. I’ll get back to you on that. Regarding Quebec, very different (😂) our daughter & grandkids live there so we do visit as much as we can.

We live in BC so not sure if your border goes by different rules. Any of my friends or relatives that drove across the border if they got “flagged” on the way back they were given I think a form or something but never a phone call message. Just strange. Glad you got the negative results !

The only one we heard was on a ship from the USA to Vancouver. He was a US citizen who had a drug conviction over 20 years ago and was denied boarding. A friend had been traveling with him and told us. No first hand knowledge though. Good luck.

wow… unbelievable…I thought if you were randomly selected they advise you in person when there. At least that’s been the experience of a couple of my friends that went across the border for the day. How crazy is this….and such a waste of your time trying to jump through hoops to figure it all out. Absolutely ridiculous.

Sorry to hear. There seems to be so much of it it is one of several reasons we cancelled our 50 day South Pacific cruise. Not worth the risk to us as the cruise was quite expensive. I hope the 3 of you that got covid it isn’t too serious.

We’ve stayed there several times-in the old & new part. The location can’t be beat. Water taxi right there. Tons of restaurants within walking distance. Bakery across the street is yummy. The hotel breakfast was good too when we were there. I was there one year for my birthday so found Starbucks within walking distance to for my free birthday latte, lol!

When we cruised with our son and daughter in law we booked a suite at the Riverside hotel in the newer part and shared the room. It is in a great location to walk to many restaurants etc. Used Uber to get to port. I’m not sure how reasonable it is any longer though.

Another one who thanks you for sharing your experience. We’d love to be cruising again but this just doesn’t make it fun and relaxing any longer. Take care.

It was a miserable rainy day on Saturday but cleared up in the evening so we walked to Seaport Village. Beautiful Christmas lights up plus the boats in the harbour were all decorated.

We were on the Oosterdam in 2019 on the back to back (2 weeks) and yes, you are correct-we were given $100 OBC and missed Mazatlan. We actually love San Diego so didn’t mind the overnight there. Was interesting seeing the divers too. Same as us-was the last time we cruised before the pandemic hit. I’m so glad we did the back to back and were in a Neptune suite so really enjoyed the cruise.

Gosh wish I’d seen that about Celebrity a no solo supplement. Do you get email offers from them or just have to check Celebrity website often? I have friends wanting me to sail with them and that would have been perfect.

Oh yes, that makes a difference!! I don’t think I’d take the Neptune upsell then.

Depends on which Neptune you could get I’d cancel the cabana and book the Neptune suite. But we love the suites.
