  1. We sailed in December and found the cabanas almost useless. They do not provide shade or privacy. They have slats on the top and flimsy small curtains on the sides. We much preferred the cabanas on seaside or Seaview. But we liked the outdoor furniture much better on Seaside with a nice selection of seating options.
  2. Agreed. We are very surprised and impressed by how smooth things have felt considering the conditions.
  3. Interesting. We are on Seashore now. It has been very windy and rainy at times since we left Cozumel yesterday. Sitting in our cabin now listening to the wind howling outside. The ship has handled the wind very well in our opinion. I wonder how the ride was for the other 2 ships. They did hang barf bags from the stairwells last night and we’ve heard that some folks weren’t well. Fortunately we have not felt any ill effects from the weather.
  4. Hello, just a few updates since hubby is sleeping off the all you can eat lunch from Hola!😬😜🤣 This is our first 3 day cruise since our very first cruise on the Carnival Fantasy about 20 years ago! Added this on to our 7 day booking on a whim when we were on Seaview Med cruise in October. After boarding yesterday when we went to book our Diamond meal reservation we learned that somehow our Diamond status fell off of our reservation. If our check in hadn’t been so speedy I may have noticed it with our key cards being blue instead of black. If this happens to you fix before boarding if possible. Once they reissued keys our wristband will no longer open the cabin. Luckily it’s just the 3 day part of the trip. I used the salon for a haircut this morning to use up our OBC for the 3 day portion. Very nice experience. The shampoo and head massage was almost 15 minutes. They take their time and make it very pleasant. I would recommend Marie if anyone is interested. Hola Tacos was very good for lunch. All you can eat and different levels of salsa provided based on your spice tolerance. Service was super friendly and quick. YC cabanas are available to all other than 4 for the Royal and Owners suites. We stayed on board today and used one for the afternoon. First YC cruise where our butler hasn’t offered to escort us to the show. This is perfectly fine with us as I usually felt silly and knew they were already busy enough. Previously they have insisted. They do have designated section blocked for YC. The DIVAS show last night was very good. Tonight is a comedian which we always enjoy. While there is an additional floor of rooms on Seashore YC, Top Sail and the restaurant don’t appear bigger. There were short waits for dinner last night and Top Sail was pretty busy with most seats taken. The pool dock is very spacious. The crew is very busy and they don’t seem to have the level of staffing needed. Only 1 or 2 servers in Top Sail for a sold out YC. They are very friendly and pleasant but so so busy. Not sure if this partially due to the 3 day cruise where folks are trying to cram in as much as possible in a short number of days. Concierge has been so nice and friendly and seems to have learned people’s names within a day. Not sure how you master that skill with the number of people passing by them every week. I have no idea of the YC Director. In past cruises we have found them to be out and about, introducing themselves and checking in with guests. Maybe they are one of the folks who walk by and say hello. We haven’t needed them but noting observations from our longer cruises to a 3 day cruise. Overall having a pleasant time and curious if we will notice a change once we are in the 7 day portion of our trip.
  5. Thanks for your trip report. I will admit that after 4 wonderful and very spoiled YC cruises your experience is so very different and discouraging. I will be on Seashore in 2 weeks for 10 days. I wonder if this is growing pains getting acclimating to Caribbean cruises but that sounds like a lame excuse. We had friends in YC for the crossing and had no issues. I wonder if they have had a major crew turnover? I hope the rest of your trip is spectacular!
  6. Yes. I am in YC and every week my boarding time changes. I have had 1 pm, 3:30 pm and now 2 pm. All without them asking me my preference. I plan on being aboard for lunch! 🤣
  7. Just make sure you cancel 48 hours in advance to get full refund.
  8. I have friends who are not on Seashore now for the transatlantic arriving in Port Canaveral Thursday. She said they have had snacks all day, every day same as before. They are having a great trip.
  9. We will be sailing with you for the 3 day and then staying on for the 7 day! We booked the 7 day the end of last year and decided to throw on the 3 day since I have vacation days to burn! We live just south of you. Hopefully we will meet in YC. We loved Ocean Cay so happy that we will get 2 different stops next month.
  10. We stayed in 16002 on Meraviglia. We loved it, never heard any noise from the restaurant above or TopSail next door. We would definitely stay there again.
  11. We were on Seaview a few weeks ago. You will watch the video in your cabin, call a number on your phone to confirm that your cabin watched the video. Then you will have to go down to your assembly station to have your card scanned. This will happen every day that new folks embark. We only heard the ship wide announcements in Barcelona and Civitavecchia since those ports have the largest numbers of new embarkations. They did have staff blocking access to the elevators during those times.
  12. We had a YC cruise where the kids were a bit challenging and the parents weren’t parenting! Kids would grab things from the snack area, take it to their table in Top Sail and then take things back once they decided it wasn’t what they wanted. Later playing tag on pool deck, hiding behind occupied deck chairs, etc. Moved on to a dance party with music playing from their iPad. I felt sorry for the staff, they said things to the parents whose response was that it’s vacation, they want the kids to have fun. Not sure what you do with that remark. luckily that was just one trip. Other trips have been perfect. We travel during times we think less likely to have families, October, early December, February but have always had some kids in YC.
  13. Thanks for this update. We are not flying out until the next morning and hoping to stay on the ship through lunch. We are YC and Diamond. Trying to pick a time for transport to the hotel. I guess we won’t know for sure until we are on the ship if the current staff will allow late departure?
  14. Hello. We will be on Seaview, disembarking in Civitavecchia early October. Our flight is the following morning and we are staying at an airport hotel. We will have private transfer for 8 of us from ship to airport hotel. We are looking for any recent cruiser experiences disembarking from YC. We understand we will need to vacate our cabins in the morning to allow time to ready them for next guests. How long can we hang out on the ship, we are not in a hurry to go hang out at the airport and really don’t want to go into Rome with a tour. Thanks for any recent experience updates.
  15. Definitely US based. I’ll be disappointed if something happens but will be okay if something changes. I won’t pay a higher price, would just make different plans. After all the different drama in my life over the last few years I’ve learned to rebound as needed!
  16. We also booked this earlier this week. My TA said that they can’t change it due to price guarantee once deposited. Definitely worth the chance for such a great deal.
  17. Since you’ve not been in the YC I think you can’t compare the experience. We have done Haven on NCL multiple times and earned Platinum Plus status. We decided to give MSC YC a try and was very pleased with the MSC product for multiple reasons. We then went back to Haven for a cruise and really noticed the price increase and reduced offerings compared to YC. Since then have done 2 more YC cruises with 2 more booked. NCL prices are crazy when MSC offers us a better experience. Improved lounge, improved pool deck and food offerings. Butlers perform better than any NCL butler we have had in the past. Mini bar and drinks in the room, etc. I’ve never had a bad cruise but my last NCL Haven was my least favorite cruise. Everyone has options and opinions but suggesting an inferior experience for something you’ve never tried is a bit surprising.
  18. We had 16002 on our December cruise and loved the location. Never heard any outside noises from the door or lounge. I think we were the only ones using the door to the lounge. We would definitely take that cabin again.
  19. Just wanted to provide an update since we are staying in Cabin 16002 this week. For us the location is perfect and we wouldn’t hesitate booking this again. We were originally in 18006 but switched when something became available on 16 since we really like being on the same floor as the lounge. The room is very quiet. You will not hear any noise from TopSail lounge. There is no noise from above as it sits just under the corner of the restaurant. The door at the end of the hallway is a convenient way in and out of the lounge. I'm not sure why anyone would feel this is an undesirable cabin but we have zero complaints. I am a light sleeper and have not had one problem.
  20. Interesting. Good to know. Thanks
  21. We have met Romeo. He is very nice and always looking out for folks. I really can’t say enough about the staff. Everyone has been fantastic. Ocean Cay today was perfect. Weather was very pleasant with a nice breeze. Lunch of crab ceviche and a lobster roll was so good. They had a few of the beach areas closed due to the lower capacity but we never saw any area that appeared too crowded. We are back on the ship now with a cocktail up on the pool deck. Tomorrow will be lunch on Ocean Cay and then afternoon massages. I booked 2 Balinese massages before we left. They said if the couples room is available they will do it as a couples massage. Butchers Cut dinner tomorrow night for hubby’s birthday. One small gripe - even with the reduced capacity in YC and MANY open seats whenever we come up the same chairs have been saved since 9 am this morning. Why?????
  22. This was gone within minutes. We were pretty disappointed but it will be fine. In the past we had the Royal suite which came with a cabana. Lesson learned since there is only 1 available.
  23. We boarded today for our first post COVID cruise! So happy to be back! We have done the Seaside twice before in YC. Looking forward to the Meraviglia and happy to miss the chaos of Miami. We got to the port about 10:25 and we were in the first group going aboard at 11:08. We asked at check-in about the capacity of the ship and they said about 2,500 passengers. He also mentioned that the YC is below capacity but I’m not sure how far below. We have seen a couple of familiar faces from our previous Seaside cruises which was a nice surprise. Our room was ready when we boarded. Lunch in the restaurant was excellent but a little funny as our server was worried that we were not ordering enough food! We each had a Cobb salad and shared the tortellini with walnut sauce. It was plenty of food for us! Getting ready for the safety drill now. Will go to Carousel theater tonight for 10 pm show. So far everything has been perfect other than my husband sitting on the bed eating the Toblerone! I told him to not get any chocolate on the nice, clean sheets. Guess what happened?????😬😬😬
  24. Have a wonderful trip! You look great after your 9 hour drive! We board in 3 weeks. Looking forward to YC on a different ship. We’ve done Seaside twice before.
  25. Thanks so much for the update. We will be on the December 4th sailing for my husband’s birthday. Hopefully it will be the same Alessandro as our first Seaside cruise. He was from Milan and a real pleasure to get to know. He said he loved to entertain and really looked out for the guests. We are interested in the differences as we sailed Seaside twice both in Royal Suite. We have a Deluxe balcony for Meraviglia. We loved the outdoor area in front of Top Sail on Seaside and will miss that on this trip. Do you know how many cabanas and if they are similar to Seaside cabanas? Can they be reserved in advance? Thanks again for the review. We haven’t sailed since COVID and have had to cancel a couple of cruises so we are eager to get back on a ship!
