Family Group with some with Any Time Dinning & Others Fixed Time - HELP
Mark_T replied to sjhanksaz's topic in MSC Cruises
It can't hurt, but if there is a medical need to eat early then it was very unwise to book an experience that doesn't offer that certainty... Be prepared to accept that they may be able to accommodate you and your wife at an early sitting but not the entire party... If they can accommodate you all that would be great, but it is not something you are all entitled to insist on, so flexibility is going to be key to enjoy what you have paid for. -
Policy Change: No More Booking Single Supplements on Any Cabin?
Mark_T replied to BoundForSea's topic in MSC Cruises
If they decide they are going to make a charge it will be at the point when you check-in at the port, so you will not be boarding without making the payment. The few reports that have been made here were for a lot less than 100%, but they do have the right to do it, so best to be honest and not make fake bookings... -

Policy Change: No More Booking Single Supplements on Any Cabin?
Mark_T replied to BoundForSea's topic in MSC Cruises
Often it doesn't get charged, but the terms were changed to make it possible due to solo travelers making ghost reservations to get around the limits on available cabins. -
Still confused re. Classic vs. Premium drink packages
Mark_T replied to Jose Zalfadilla's topic in Celebrity Cruises
... it isn't, if it is sold for $8 then it is included in the classic package. It really is price alone that dictates what is or is not in each package for alcoholic beverages... A quick check on one of the ships sailing at the moment shows Guinness as $11, so that means it is on the Premium package, or would cost you $1+tip if you had the classic package. -
Policy Change: No More Booking Single Supplements on Any Cabin?
Mark_T replied to BoundForSea's topic in MSC Cruises
If your solo friend is a big casino spender they will start to get comp offers which may help with their problem in future, but the simple reality is, as JamieLogical said above, the odds favor the cruise-line getting more revenue out of more bodies onboard, even if they are children, and increasingly these days that marginal revenue is getting to be very important to them. Even with all these limitations, it does remain possible to get solo bookings on any cruise if you book early enough, and solo special deals do show you from time to time if you are flexible about where and when you cruise, you just can't rely on being able to book solo on the more popular cruises once they have been available for a while. -
If you want to share the status level and who it is with, we can give you a good clue about which level that will get you and hence which benefits... Generally I've found that the websites behave best on a PC with the standard Microsoft Edge browser, but even then they can be quirky with poorly designed drop-downs.

The other oddity with the address is that once you do have it completed correctly and showing correctly in your documents, don't worry if you see an incorrect version on the website, don't try to fix it again. As per Essiesmon, the trick to getting it right in the first place is the easily missed 'Find' button...

Policy Change: No More Booking Single Supplements on Any Cabin?
Mark_T replied to BoundForSea's topic in MSC Cruises
The logic remains the same as always, 2 or more passengers in a cabin will spend more on board, so even with paying double, they still lose revenue. So if the cruise looks likely to sell out they will taper off the single sales. -
Family sailing MSC Euribia from Southampton 22nd Dec
Mark_T replied to Munki78's topic in MSC Cruises
Same here, with ABP last time we went from Southampton we parked within walking distance of the terminal building, they collected our cases as we took them out of the car and we just walked to the terminal with our carry-on. Perfect. -

This is almost the only reason we have not already cancelled our 2025 Japan cruise with Celebrity. With their recent track-record on mismanagement of the Japan inventory there is a good chance they will save us the minimal loss of our deposit... Compared to current prices we got a great deal on that cruise, but it will be in a Concierge level cabin and the terrible MDR menu changes are sucking the joy out our anticipation for this one, especially as it is on an M class ship with limited alternative dining...

Still confused re. Classic vs. Premium drink packages
Mark_T replied to Jose Zalfadilla's topic in Celebrity Cruises
That can't happen with alcoholic drinks, the price alone determines which package it is in, and if it is over your package price you just pay the difference + 20%. It is only non-alcoholic drinks where they are either in your package or you have to pay full price. So still water in a can is in the classic package, sparkling water is not included so you have to pay full price even though that may only be $5.+20% -
There are no child fares (unless there is a rare 'kids sail free' promotion) so that part rings true as there would be no difference in price for 1 adult + 1 child vs 2 adults. Suite pricing includes a Premium drinks package, it is not a separate line item so no saving there either although your child would have got the alcohol free version, but no lower price for that. So you are left with having paid around $750 pp/day for a Sky Suite... I've seen worse... Why is your invoice in Euro when you are based in the UK according to your profile? Generally it isn't cheaper to use an EU based agent if you are UK based.

Don't lose sight of the fact that you are doing a wonderful thing for a vulnerable minor as you navigate through this, but from what you've said, all your answers are likely to be obtained via CPS at this point, and they should probably have been the first place to seek approval when planning a vacation outside the US. Hope it all works out for all concerned.

You should already have this as part of your original booking documentation: https://www.msccruisesusa.com/-/media/US/Documents/Booking Terms and Conditions 230713.pdf Section 6. PASSPORT, VISAS AND MINORS.

They have answered correctly for the requirement to re-enter the US after a closed loop cruise (which I assume this is?) .. but they missed the point that she is unrelated to you... This is the official position MSC take as per their published US terms: "Passengers under the age of 21 (on voyages that include a port in the USA) or 18 (on voyages that do not include a port in the USA) must travel accompanied by their parents or a legal guardian. If one of the traveling minor’s parents is not cruising, then a signed authorization letter made in accordance with the laws of the country where the minor resides from the absent parent authorizing the minor to travel must be provided at the time of Booking. If the minor is traveling with Passengers that are not his/her parents or legal guardians, then a document signed by the parents or legal guardian authorizing the minor to travel with a chaperone or other designated individual must be provided at the time of Booking, in accordance with Company policies" Personally, even without that statement in their terms, I wouldn't consider taking an unrelated minor out of the country without proper authorization as you will have no ability to give permission for any medical care should it be needed...

Butcher’s Cut? Yacht club restaurant?
Mark_T replied to NCteacherlovescruising's topic in MSC Cruises
No Michelin starred restaurant would ever attempt to deliver the number of covers served in the YC, and it would be unreasonable to expect that standard, and yes it doesn't come up to those standards. It is however true that even with only one cruise so far in YC, they managed to impress me very much with the quality of the food they served when compared to Celebrity's Luminae (.. or Murano)
