  1. Spent two weeks on board last year and loved that little ship!
  2. Full transit pax ships can and do make reservations, the partial transits maybe are being cancelled because they are just a pain for the canal authority.
  3. You are welcome. I’ve really enjoyed Soton.
  4. There’s also a memorial to the Titanic engineers in the park right in town as well a nice small art museum. Also it’s possible to walk the medieval walls in spots. And you can have a pint at the Titanic Pub near the docks!
  5. Did the January EB in 2010, had a sheltered balcony, the whole crossing was quite temperate, enjoyed the balcony. EB in winter get a starboard cabin to get the sun.
  6. Yes there is a free shuttle. It makes a loop with several stops then back to the ship. Very easy!
  7. On QM2 WC 2010 we pulled alongside and exchanged many blasts of the whistles. This was before any renovations had begun on the old gal. ‘Twas cool!
  8. I did a transatlantic on Carnival Sunshine some years ago. A woman had her “support” dog that she pushed around the ship every day in a baby carriage with the dog dressed as a baby girl. Twas weird! Different outfit every day!
  9. Yes and it was $18 US and the service was unfriendly at best but I still loved it. A little slice of history!
  10. I would stay at The Raffles if the budget permitted. Had a beer in the long bar in 2010 QM2 WC port call. Loved the place!
  11. Did Crown Princess last fall Vancouver to LA with a friend. Both traveling solo. Dining was just a mess every night. Long lines if.you had a res, we asked to share and one time we we actually ended up sharing a 6 top, another night they put me alone at an empty 6 top. The waiters were really nice though, they felt sorry for me I think. Other than dinner the ship was fine.
  12. Kind of subdued for Carnival, hieroglyphs around the mdr, giraffes and baboons foreword promenade etc. Love there’s still tablecloths in the mdr. Really nice ship!
  13. Did a six night on the Spirit to Alaska last June. Was 80 bucks a person for a balcony, not much Carnival experience. She’s a great little ship, and has four elevator banks!
  14. If they just served it all on white tablecloths…. They actually do still on the Spirit.
  15. I’ve sailed out of Brooklyn a number of times on QM2, no problem at all!
  16. I just wonder why they are a more bronze color and where the old ones went?
  17. Thought the food was fine on Spirit last June. Love that they still use tablecloths in the MDR, was told it’s the only ship in the fleet to do so.
  18. Had pub lunch in mdr on board the Crown last fall. Was really good!
  19. Some lines offer a guarantee fare each for two people but when you enter for solo the pppd goes up and then it is 2 x.
  20. Have paid more than 2x the fare on various lines. Annoying ,the TA said they’ll do what they want. Can make more money with 2 in a cabin.
  21. Hadn’t thought of that but you are correct I’ll bet!
  22. It figures! Kind of more loyal to Royal. Don’t know why tablecloths matter to me but they do!
  23. On Spirit last year. Loved it. Do believe it’s the only Carnival ship that still uses tablecloths in the mdr, which I prefer!
