The front desk at The Jane called me a cab, no problem, a quick scenic ride to Red Hook.
  2. The timing’s kind of cool. Under the bridge and pass the statue late morning instead of 6am. Also harkens back to the day when when ships had to spend time in port to load coal.
  3. I’ve looked at prices for the next year. . Very few crossings less than the usual 75% solo supplement. Speaking of QM2
  4. Just love any one who serves me dinner! Did mdr on rci, carnival and princess last year, and found them comparable. Would love to do HAL this year!

I love/stay at the Jane. It’s right on the Hudson west village. It housed survivors of the Titanic crew!!
  6. Love, love Britannia DR on QM2. Hope io be back on board later this year. Love the winter crossings! Because the ship follows the Gulf Stream and the air temp generally is about the same as the average water temperature on my January EB was around 60 f.
  7. Spent 4 weeks on Royal last year Explorer and Enchantment, I’m so happy when I have a dining steward and a cabin steward!
  8. For heaven’s sake, pay the autograt and give a twenty here and there! It’s a small price to pay!
  9. Did Carnival Spirit last year, twas awesmte—-a sister. ship
  10. I always tip the cabin steward a twenty or so. They really appreciate it and compared to my overall spend it’s minimal
  11. I’m usually solo, usually fly in 3 days early to explore. I research neighborhoods etc. Has always worked well
  12. Also the tides matter in certain ports. Seen ships wait, seen em hand off passports to the port agent . High anxiety!!!
  13. The food was fine. Found it difficult to get a shared table at dinner, two of us, long lines for mtd. A bit of a mess. The maitrre d did apologize
  14. Just FYI. They still crumb the table on Royal. Love it.
  15. Funny story. I did. a b2b on Explorer last March. On turnaround day I went to old SJ. Back at the ship i went through the usual to board stuff and going up the escalator I realized it was going the opposite direction and I was about to board the Epic. Someone (me?) wasn’t paying attention! No problem at the Explorer dock. BTW the wine store at the dock seemed quite expensive to me.
  16. I think I did the Cunard tour. Twas great. Do it!!
  17. VCL on Explorer OTS had.really good bites, Enchantment OTS not so good. This was last year.
  18. Ya just never know. But it’s been shortish lines the 3 times I’ve been privileged to board
