  1. Last night was "Sounds on Centre", where they close down part of Centre Street in our downtown area and have a live band play. Happens the first Friday of the month throughout the summer. Beautiful sunset from the marina after.
  2. It's been a long time since I've seen Witness. Thanks...I just added it to my IMDB watchlist so that I'll remember it when looking for something to watch. Our first date was to see Silence of the Lambs. Not sure what I was thinking but Micheline did practically end up in my lap by the end of the movie. 😜
  3. Let's go Daryl! Should be a great cruise. Looks like you will soon be giving @Sea Dog Greg a run for his money Mark when it comes to videos. 👍
  4. We had the same problem with our Golden. She loved chasing the ball when thrown, but never learned to give it back to us so she could chase it again. Our neighbors Lab on the other hand would never stop dropping the ball at your feet and then stand there excitedly until you threw it again. Didn't matter how long he had to wait...you'd give up before he did and just throw it to make him go away (at least for a few seconds).
  5. If you ever get tired of throwing the ball, but they're not done playing yet, get one of these auto ball throwing machines. So long as they are trained to return the ball to the machine, they can play for as long as they want. There's a few different models available.
  6. NBC Sports also does a pretty good job of posting videos of just the events on their YouTube page. Sometimes there's commentary and sometimes none (those must be from the Peacock feed as Greg notes): (352) NBC Sports - YouTube
  7. No. Didn't know about it. Thanks for letting me know. If I'm ever in Batavia, it's now on my list of places to visit. Thurman was (and really still is) my favorite Bill. I have a few Thomas 34 jerseys and my fantasy football name was always the Thurmanators.
  8. I have a pair of Jabra earbuds that work great. I've had them for maybe 8 years now?? Apple earbuds never fit my ears properly and would fall out. Not a problem for the Jabras. They came with 3 different sized silicon ear gels to make them a better fit for different sized ears. When I was traveling a lot for business, I had a pair of wired Bose noise cancelling headphones. They also worked great until something happened to the wire where it connects to the headphones. A replacement wire was a ridiculous amount of money, so I switched completely to the earbuds. I do prefer the comfort of full-sized headphones over a long period of time (like watching a movie on a plane) but they're a lot bulkier to carry around compared to the little earbuds case.
  9. I've found third party "airplay" type apps, and even the built in Apple Airplay, to work very inconsistently. I therefore bought one of these Apple adaptors a few years ago: Apple Lightning Digital A/V Adapter White MW2P3AM/A/MD826AM/A - Best Buy We carry it, along with an HDMI cable, whenever we travel. It's nice in that you can charge your device while using it to send videos to the TV. So long as you can change the input on a TV to an used HDMI input, you can watch things from your iPhone/iPad. We usually have several things on Netfix and Prime Video downloaded to my iPad. Works great most of the time, although we sometimes run into situations where the ability to change the TV input has been specifically disabled (looking at you Ovation). There are several no-name versions of the adaptor available on Amazon at much lower prices. I can't comment on how well those work.
  10. YouTube won't allow this link to be embedded here for some reason, so you'll need to click on the below link to see the Celine Dion performance: https://youtu.be/smKqMiGXxl4?si=o9sjQspwK1awBxxe
  11. We watched for about 15 minutes and then decided to record it so that we can watch later using fast forward. It's long enough watching everyone walk into a stadium. It's even longer waiting for boats to work their way down the Seine. The entertainment in many recent Olympic opening ceremonies is too abstract for me. I know that it's often related to the history of the host country, but something gets lost for me between the history and the artistic performance.
  12. I love this one! The colorful sky in the background mixed with the white frothiness of the ocean in the foreground...spectacular!
  13. This is the cruise that we were looking at due to Grand Cayman and Puerto Plata. Been to Grand Cayman once a long time ago and never been to Puerto Plata. We too avoid afts due to the long walk but it might be a good trade off in this case to avoid middle of the night noise. Strange that they would put all of the Sky Suites in a noisy area. Highest isn't always best.
  14. Thanks George (and everyone else who answered)! Helpful thread. Looks like it's worth an extra $200 to choose a specific Sky Suite that has fewer noise issues. I added a question to that thread looking for help in picking such a suite. I think all Sky Suites are under the Ocean View Cafe, but some apparently are under carpeted areas that are much quieter than carts being rolled across hard floors. Any suggestions on specific Sky Suites that are quieter from members of this thread would be greatly appreciated.
  15. We haven't purchased the drink package since turning D and getting the 4 free vouchers. We still get as many drinks as we want and have sometimes racked up a pretty good alcohol bill the end of the cruise, but we never spend as much as we would have buying 2 drink packages. We usually have access to the suite happy hour though. YMMV.
  16. Building on this...what are the preferable Sky Suites in Equinox to minimize OVC noise? We were also thinking of booking a Guarantee but paying an additional $200 to pick our suite and avoid OVC noise seems like a bargain. First time cruising Celebrity and I appreciate the help!
