  1. After 260+ nights on Regent, we have had one disappointing (for many reasons) Regent cruise—December 2021, Mariner Panama Canal. This was Mariner’s first cruise after reopening and it had at least one senior management person in common with the latter part of the 2023 world cruise. At that time I noted rust and mold around our veranda door and rust in some areas of the suite. Well, we board Mariner on Tuesday for 22 days and will celebrate our 50th anniversary while on board. I am concerned but look forward to a good experience with tempered expectations.

Since the Mariner 2021 cruise, we have enjoyed two wonderful trips on Navigator and Voyager and found those ships to be well maintained and providing excellent service.

  2. As you board the ship, ask a staff or crew member where you can check your hand luggage. A place is usually set aside in one of the lounges with an attendant. You’ll receive a claim check and can pick up your items when your suite is ready. We do this on each cruise. Much easier than lugging everything with you or interrupting the room stewards as they are trying to ready the ship.

  3. Of the 15 Regent cruises (5 post Covid) we have enjoyed, I cannot remember a cruise when a tour or two was not cancelled or materially changed. We have always found an alternative that was satisfactory. On a recent Voyager cruise down the west African coast, Destination Services communicated very clearly, lowering passengers’ expectations about infrastructure, reliability, and guide quality. Good, clear communication would help in these post Covid times.

Is there a spa menu or price list available pre cruise ?

rssc.com, Regent Experience, Onboard Activities, Spa & Wellness—brochure with spa menu. I didn’t see a price list, but contact information is in #3 post.

Why, was it not as good? due to covid restrictions or another reason?

Mariner’s first cruise after Covid. Covid issues. Excellent Panama Canal transit. Key West, Costa Rica, San Diego, extra day in San Francisco—that was it for ports. We were on the first two Splendor cruises after Covid, which were excellent. Maybe our expectations were too high. Our only disappointing Regent cruise in 230+ nights with 4 more reserved.

Thanks.  I'm not going to book the hotel through Regent but curious as to what hotels they use.  It would be nice to stay where we could meet up with fellow passengers before the cruise.

Last summer in Copenhagen two hotels Regent used were the Marriott and Villa Copenhagen (former post office, very near Tivoli, unique hotel).
