  1. See, I could have sworn i read a post here where this didn't happen. Or they cancelled the sharing status, or something where it involved a death or divorce.
  2. I'm happy to be wrong here. I may have misread something else then.
  3. You're able to do it? That's awesome. My stepdaughter unfortunately will probably never cruise again :(. She's Diamond though with 10 points, so she'll never really get to use those benefits.
  4. But in this case, the son is the linked person. He doesn't get to daisy chain his status that was shared to him to his wife. His points are still at whatever he earned. I do not believe shared status can be further shared. I've seen posts here before from people who've tried. I think to share status, you need to have actually have earned the points to the level that is to be shared. I think i saw a post a while ago where a widow, or widower who had shared status could not share their status with their new spouse because he or she did not technically earn the status.
  5. It may *not* be a mistake that your son is diamond. If you made diamond before he turned 18, then technically, he matches you up until he's 18. Even if he's only sailed once. My younger stepdaughter is Diamond. She's been on one cruise. I hit diamond before she hit 18. She's matched with me at Diamond. My older step daughter was 18 before I hit platinum. She stayed Gold. The problem here, is that status matching matches points of the highest member in the family. Your son, who does NOT have the prerequisite points to be Diamond, can't share his Diamond status as that was shared with him and he doesn't actually have the points to be diamond.
  6. It was a yes for Milkshakes at Johnny Rockets, no for Ben & Jerry's on Adventure back in September. Oddly enough, Johnny Rockets Milkshake, if i remember correctly actually costed more than the Ben & Jerry's one.
  7. Will we see the most awesome, unique live thread ever?
  8. I'm not a big wine connoisseur, but my wife knows more than I. A little story. My wife and I were married in 2015. We had a customized ceremony which included a bottle of wine. Ironically, we got married on a cruise ship (Carnival). The night before we, separated not to see each other until the next morning. I had several jobs, one of which, was to bring the wine. I was supposed to pick something up, but as I said, I know nothing about wine and it was supposed to be a good wine. The whole deal is that the wine would go into a box and "locked" with two sealed letters and if we were to have problems, we would open the box, read the letters to one another with the wine. FYI, that box is still locked. Anyways, that morning, I was rushing as I was supposed to meet my parents, and pick up this, do this, pack this and i'm finally on the road and...I FORGOT THE WINE!!!!! Fortunately, for me, we just grabbed a placeholder bottle for the ceremony, got married and forgot about the wine...for about a year. Fast forward, we're on the Anthem, and ironically, this is the only time we've ever gotten the drink package. It was on sale (a real sale) AND it was during the time where only one of us needed to get it (as I don't drink). We're onboard, and there is a Vintages Wine bar onboard. They had a GREAT selection of wine, but I did not know anything about wine. I knew that we got a discount with the package, not sure if it was 20% or 40% off wine more costing more than $100.00, We found this 200 dollar bottle of wine my wife said was good (i don't remember what it is, its locked in the box) and got a great discount on it. I also had the internet onboard when they installed the o3b system on Anthem, so it was decent for cruise ship internet and I was able to find out that the bottle of wine retailed about the same price as what Royal was selling, but with the discount, it really was a discount. So expensive wines are priced competitively. As I mentioned, I know very little about wine. I'm solo last year. I'm diamond so now I get 4 free drinks and i'm going over the wine list. Its a blur to me. Until I see the ONE wine I recognize. Conundrum, only because I had it before at Chef's Table and my wife likes this one. Combined with me having it before and my wife's recommendation, I see that they are charging 16 bucks/glass for Conundrum, or 63 for the bottle. Curious, I look up Conundrum. It goes for 16/bottle retail. My educated guess is that if they serve it by the glass, they will totally upcharge the bottle, but if its a more costly bottle, it will be closer to retail price. They probably make more of a profit off lower priced wines than pricier wines. That being said, I suspect that to make the bottle discount worth it, you'd have to drink some REALLY expensive wines. I mean, if you're saving a true 20% off of bottles, you're only saving $40 bucks on a $200.00 bottle of wine, you're still paying 160 bucks PLUS the drink package for the both of you.
  9. I have found that they will take requests. Whether they can accommodate those request depends solely on how many Key boarders there are, but I don't think are that many. I have never gotten the Key. But on my last cruise, I did a b2b and the b2b lunch was the same thing as the Key Lunch. Ironically, we had friends who had the Key on our 2nd leg, and we were allowed to sit together and had the same menu.
  10. Granted, i haven't been on Anthem since 2016, but i remembered that they set up a pub crawl for the Anthem on our Meet and Greet Role Call. I remember the number 17, because the point of the crawl was to get a drink from each bar on the ship. we were hanging around, what was Michael's Pub at the time when they rolled up. I think they were on #9, or 10 at this point maybe. They went from bottom up. Yeah, they were lit and only about 1/2 way through their crawl. There's a lot of bars.
  11. I must have missed something, what happened to bob? He was like a staple and then he disappeared.
  12. For me, it hasn't changed much since 2017. In 2017, they had a different dessert than the World, but everything else was the same. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint), i've been doing live threads since 2018, and still had photos of my chef's table from 2017 to realize that not much has changed since i've been doing them every cruise offered since 2012.
  13. Oh you're on the same cruise as me. You actually caught me in one of your videos, though I only noticed because I knew where I was in the Diamond Lounge looking down onto the Viking Crown Lounge when you were coming in on the St. Kitts video of yours.
  14. My precious has been returned finally!!!! It took a while. They initially said i would receive it on October 13th. They were wrong. And surprisingly, it still had 50% power!
  15. I did this many years ago on my First Royal Caribbean cruise. We were supposed to stop at Grand Cayman and then return to Miami. However, we could not make Grand Cayman due to swells being too high, so instead, they threw in Key West before Miami. We cleared customs in Key West. It made for the easiest disembarkation in Miami because we didn't have to deal with an agent there and it was just get off and get your bags and leave. In key west, we were just told to meet in the lounge at a certain time, we got in line and walked by a customs agent who checked passport and that was it.
  16. The question really is if its really important to you for the upgrade? You will never know whether it was because of your increase of the bid or if you were going to win anyways, so your only recourse is to make the decision based on the available information. If you doubling your bid still results in a cheap upgrade, then how much is the upgrade worth to you. If you are happy with the original room assignment, don't increase your bid. If you rather have an upgrade, increase the bid, because if you lose, or its not available, you don't spend anything.
  17. Oasis class does a good job managing the crowds. So, I wouldn't say its "too big" as opposed to "too much" If you're the type of person who has the energy to go. Or a type of OCD who wants to try everything that the ship has to offer, then Oasis class is "too much" for 7 nights. I can't even fathom the 3 and 4 night runs on Oasis. By virtue of having over 5400 passengers, they have multiple venues and multiple activities to split them up. As a result, one can feel like they need to try everything in a giant buffet. I know at the end of my 7 nights on Allure, I needed a vacation from the running around i did. Personally, when I did my 12 night Enchantment back in March. I found that pace so refreshing that I really actually relaxed. Enchantment is a stretched Grandeur, but only has 1 specialty restaurant. The fact that I felt like I did not need to squeeze in extras here and there because they were offered and available was a refreshing pace.
  18. I was on Adventure a couple weeks ago. You can get the milkshake from Johnny Rockets with the vouchers, but you cannot get them from Ben and Jerrys.
  19. I did the 12 night itinerary back in March and did a live thread. It is a very laid back cruise. 3 days down and 3 days up is a lot of sea days, but they do a good job keeping you entertained. I loved the fact that I can visit the Southern Caribbean from Baltimore. Shipwise, I was surprised. Being an older ship, the pace is a slower. That can be good or bad depending on your viewpoint. Me, I found it to be good because I didn't feel rushed to do this or that. It also felt like the activities and entertainment was catered to my time, not the other way around, which I found to be the case with the larger ships. Same thing with meals. On other ships, I feel this need to try other things, but here, I don't have that because there was 12 nights, and there's only Chops and Chef's Table.
  20. This one opened on Enchantment. But I doubt it was easily closed afterwards.
  21. Now I'm caught up with your live thread @FionaMG. I realized now close we crossed. You left Bayonne on September 23rd. I drove up to Bayonne that evening to board on the 24th. For some reason, I thought you were sailing West, not East. Good live thread, but its too bad you didn't see We will Rock you. Out of all the shows on Anthem, We will Rock you is by far one of my favorites overall.
  22. There are plenty, but I'm not a big souvenir shopper, so I'm not the best person to ask. I did find a gin tasting place up the street from Holy donuts. Are you on Adventure now?
