Geez I forgot that was journeyman Frank Reich who led that comeback. Almost as good as Warren Beatty in Heavan Can Wait

It seems to only be letting me search back to 2022.

Sometimes if you do a google search you can find posts that go farther back especially with the right key words. But yea-mine only go back to 2022 now and I've been around since 2003. Also there used to be a website called the "waybackmachine.com" or somelike that that finds old webposts

Just click on your own page and then look at "activity" then click on "content type" and then "topics"... That'll bring up every thread you've ever started on Cruise Critic from the beginning...

Its not from the begining-last time I looked-about 12 years of my posts went poof

I understand he must have been in such pain. Yet it’s devastating thinking about a life extinguished at such a young age (really at any age).

Depression, alcohol, and guns should not be mixed.

Those were the exact factors involved in his case. Shot himself with his Dad's Shotgun.

When he cruised in our cabin at about 17-18, my only concern was him getting back to the cabin before daybreak because of all the girls chasing him around the ship. He definitely won the Award for the most Digits* received from Cruise Babes. I also took this kid on his first walking Tour of the French Quarter although I promised his parents that he would be off the streets after Dinner Time-but then again they eat late on Bourbon Street. He was such a vivacious kid. As you get older you inevitably learn of friends that have committed suicide-and none of mine have fit the "Profile" except that they had easy access to a gun when the depression/drinking hit.

    * Digits was a game played by Bachelors back in the day when men would try to get the telephone numbers of girls  to ask for a date

@TravelE prayers for your son and his GF's emotional/mental health while dealing with this. I cannot imagine the range of emotions flooding thru them right now. I would be a wreck.

@MeganGC1983 I cannot imagine 5 people in a stateroom....3 on my last cruise was rough, and we were mostly just in there to sleep!

Plus Megan's  kids are now older, bigger and are teen-aging

Sorry I have been scarce the last few weeks. Lots going on in our lives. Some good, some bad!

I had a great trip to the Florida panhandle the last week of April with a couple of my mom friends. We met when our kids were in elementary school. Now they are either out of college or graduating soon. Below are a few pics from that trip.

Got back to Atlanta and celebrated my oldest son’s 24th birthday with a nice dinner at home on Friday night. He had plans to go out with friends to celebrate his birthday on Saturday.

I get a text very early Sunday morning asking me to call him.

***Trigger warning: this post contains content about suicide***

After a night out celebrating with dinner and a couple of bars, his dear friend and roommate came home and committed suicide in their apartment. My son and his girlfriend called the police and then texted me. We picked them up after the police released them. They were distraught both with grief and the trauma of hearing the gunshot and knowing what it likely meant.

DS obviously does not want to go back to their apartment, so he is living with us temporarily. Not exactly his ideal living situation! But he is very grateful to have a place to stay and parents that have moved everything out of his apartment (almost) while working around a hazmat team.

    ****Happy topics now*******

In the meantime, we were preparing for my younger son’s college graduation which occurred this past Saturday. We had a family celebration dinner on Friday with graduation the next morning. Everything was flawless and well-done. This DS has struggled with a learning disability his whole life so to graduate college with highest honors was an incredible feat. We are beyond proud!

Now we transition to preparation for our Alaskan cruise on the HAL Westerdam leaving this Sunday from Seattle. We fly out to Seattle on Friday night with plans to hit the Seattle highlights on Saturday. I really need to focus on packing and getting the dog ready for the dog sitter. There are a few things that still need moved out of DS1’s apartment but the movers are coming on Wednesday.

I am excited to read all the upcoming trip reports: @KmomChicago, @TxTeach79, @MeganGC1983, and @sid_9169 (maybe???)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Tribe moms and surrogate moms!

Awful. My son's best friend/sometimes roomate and a kid that I took on a couple of cruises with us  before also committed suicide several years ago. He was a happy go lucky kid with a bright future that you would never guess was suffering from severe depression.

We walked out of there in a food coma and decided to head back to the cabin. We figured we would leave the barstools for the poor people who would be getting off the ship tomorrow!

    Today’s Cheers count: Patti = 6, Jeff = 10. For the day (+4), for the cruise (+12).

Coming up next: It’s Turnaround Day. Let’s do it again!!!

  10. My son had a similar project when he was about 8-9.

He "somehow" came up with a history project acting out  the greatest historical speeches in American history

    "I Have a Dream"

"The Only Thing We Have to Fear-Is Fear Itself"

"December 7, 1941-a Day that Will Live in Infamy"

    "Mr. Gorbachov-Tear Down this Wall"

He practiced the speeches to get the tone right-built a project board-explained the context of each speech

    AND

    "We" got an A+

He still vividly recalls the project 20 years later plus it didn't hurt my GPA

Made it to the 3rd grade wax museum… my third trip to the school today. After drop off but before wax museum, he fell in mud at recess so his US marshal shirt and jeans had to get switched out. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hmm. You'd think the kid could have grown a thick handlebar mustache to "finish" the Look. See background pics.

Oh well! I hope the Teach gives YOU an A+ for YOUR Project.

I honestly have no idea why there are 2.  She lives 20 miles out in the middle nowhere on 100 acres.  The late FIL built everything himself.  I don't ask any questions.

Probably in case they got divorced

  14. I'm going on the Jubilee on July 20 and nobody has even started a roll call. We used to have roll calls of a several  hundred pages long. Now everybody just goes to the Book of Faces where there is no meaningful interaction. That's why I post on the Tribe because it is the closest experience.

I think this is a good time to just get my card switched out so I can bank the pretty 25 cruise one.

I go down there’s one GS agent. The same one I dealt with on my JiJi’s and excursion issues.

Three in the regular line. Nobody in priority.

The person being helped leaves, I step up. Behind me and to the right I hear “the line starts here!” Several times. I look back and say “im in the platinum line.”

The guy goes toe to toe with me. Gets up in my face . “I don’t care. I’ve been here 30 minutes and you ain’t going ahead of me.”  I say actually I am going ahead of you.

His significant other jumps between us. GS agent says to him “this is the priority line.” She proceeds to help me I give her my room number..then look back at the guy and repeat my room number. She gives me the card. Before I leave I look back at the guy and say my room number again.

Who the F. Scott Fitzgerald minus Scott Fitgerald does he think he is?

Not surprisingly, I haven’t heard from the guy. I was expecting at least a written apology.
