  1. Never taken a train other than a computer train. Here at home, I took Amtrack 2 twice a week back and forth to work. I got the idea for taken the train on this board (loved the idea) not even thinking about all our luggage because of all the formal events we attend. Bad idea. Lesson learned. Would have worked fine maybe if we dressed like some.
  2. Well we travel more than most. Stop with Milan it was a the example I know my advice is good, this year we used the cabs outside the gate in Milan, Venice, Barcelona, and Rome. By the way, we always got a van not a car because of the amount of luggage and there were 4 of us. I know it's cheaper because we still use a car service back to the airport. The reason I hate the car service at the airport is you walk down with all your bags there are 50 guys holding small signs you have to find your guy, then he walks you out to a parking area he then has to run and get the car because it's not waiting for you just outside like the taxi is. Going back to the airport is fine the car pulls up to the front door of the hotel off you go. I will never prepay again. We travel 2-3 times a year to Mexico and South America we always use a car service because of safety concerns.
  3. Why do they not have a taxi stand? Would love to know why because we are gong there in April. Below is the information from the airport web site... Taxi. London taxis are available outside each terminal. The cost to central London is £45–£70 and the journey time is approximately one hour. Or, book a minicab or chauffeur in advance.
  4. yes I am well aware just giving a example this is true at all airports. Just walk out and get a taxi its easier and faster. I spend $15,000 at least on each trip the least of my worries is what a cab costs. This year we have traveled 28,000 miles and been to 8 airports, 5 in Europe.
  5. I stopped pre booking and just take a taxi its faster and cheaper. My last trip to Milan my car service I pre booked was 55.00 euros the driver was not there and no one answered the phone (Sun Transfers). Wasted 30-45 minutes. Walked outside got a cab for 20 euros in minutes.
  6. Yes you are right. My last S class cruise in April there was only 1,100 passengers so of course the Martini bar had lots of space and was very nice. We had 5 Aqua cabins on the Edge in my group all of us loved it. On a 7 day cruise I would book Aqua class again. Hooked on E-Class!
  7. Do not bother looking at the wine list. Until you get on the ship you will have no idea what they have in stock. My April Reflection Cruise, the wine was fair at best, but on my July Edge Cruise, the wine was Excellent!
  8. I only agree we also liked the Martini Bar in the M Class and S Class Ships. We were on the Edge in July average age of the early '60s, also had the Aqua Class did not experience any noticeable noise issues anywhere (I am 69). This was our 65th cruise maybe 15th with Celebrity we started cruising when we were 28 (our honeymoon) it just keeps getting better. Loved it so much when we got home I canceled my April Trans Atlantic on the Reflection and booked Apex my SE Asia Cruise is on an S Class as none other is offered. As I said we also had the Aqua Class as all the suites were sold out. On the Apex we do have a suite and I am disappointed that they do not have the infinite veranda! Really YOU THINK?? slow and noisy to open and close...it takes maybe 60 seconds and mine you could hear but far from being noisy.
  9. Does not work I did week later they sent me a email and wanted cash.
  10. I booked this then cancelled. After reading some of the reviews most were good but the bad ones make to decide to spend the money and take the ships tour which I never do. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g188676-d8764003-Reviews-Cruise_Express_Bruges-Zeebrugge_West_Flanders_Province.html
  11. They did not in April 2022 in Fort Lauderdale . But there was also little waiting took less than 20 minutes and we were on the ship.
  12. I agree. Loved the Reflection but love love the E class.
  13. Prices have gone way up! My April 2022 Trans Atlantic Sky Suite,14 nights cost me $7,864.00. New price 2023 but for 13 nights is $12,282.00. maybe the 2022 cruise was a deal, I booked it on a black Friday sale. With the Sky Suite you do get all the perks.
  14. Yes mine also. First it showed the correct amount $800.00 then it went up to $1,600.00, then it went back down to $800.00 then again up to $1,600.00 all over about 30 days. Today its $776.00?? I have always know the correct amount is $800.00.
  15. We traveled 28,000 miles so far this year. My house is still in Jupiter. We have lots of formal events to attend.
  16. Yes she is happy. My point is they keep advertising deals that are not deals she does not know.
  17. Tied of getting daily specials from Celebrity that are not special. I helped my daughter plan her first cruise a month ago she is going on the Edge out of Rome in a few weeks. We picked the cruise then I told her to call my Travel agent get the best deal and just go ahead and book it. A few days ago we talked about her plans and I asked how much onboard credit she has...only $100.00 from the travel agent??, then what drink package she did not know?? I Emailed our travel agent and found out this. Were any of you aware of this? Hi Ed and Jamie, Celebrity implemented a new pricing strategy a few months ago. They now have Cruise-only, All Included, and Retreat. They no longer offer all included with the option to upgrade to elevate and indulge. The new All-included package includes the Classic Beverage Package, the Premium is now reserved for the Retreat and the cruise-only has no perks. Jamie, you have the All Included package with the classic beverage package. Ed, I hope you and Becky are staying safe and are out of Ian's way. Take care, Cheri
  18. I had Lake Como on the brain we stayed in and took the train to Bellagio about 2.5 hours. Most passengers 90% had 1 carry on and a back pack. Would love to see you take 5 bags on all at once and have it close to you so you can keep a eye on your expensive things. I am very fit but my wife is tiny and no help with 150 pounds of luggage plus her carry on. But... She was the best dressed women in Italy and on our cruise. For a day trip which we did to Lake Como the train was great and fast.
  19. When ever I hear train they must think we are traveling with no luggage. We did the train in Milan to Lake Como and I thought it would be like the airline and they would check your bags, WRONG it was a nightmare with 5 bags. We then had a train from Milan to Venice t catch a two-week cruise did not want to take the train again and could not get flights so I hired a car to take us because of the luggage it cost me 700euros lesson learned. The train does not work with luggage/
  20. And with Luggage it makes sense. We travel with 3-4 checked bags and 2 carry on.
  21. Not true it frees up the other pool bar for the others. And if its not a pool bar what is it? My only point is you have more than enough bars on both shops in fact every ship I have ever been on I have yet been to all the bars on a short 7 night cruise. If you look they do have deals on suites maybe $200.00 a day extra is what I watch for.
  22. I agree the mega, mega ships are just to big. Stopped doing RCCL ships years ago in fact we stopped doing any cruise under 14 nights unless we do a back to back. After more than 50 Caribbean cruises we stopped doing them also. We are from Michigan so before I semi-retired to FL we wanted the warm weather and the beaches. Now we want to see the world.
  23. Really one pool bar...Picture of The Retreat Pool Bar.
